Generally, Wikipedia editors are not allowed to use a commercial site as a source. I was so gratified that you found a source, however, that I'm letting your edit stand. Thanks, and I hope it's not reverted.--Quisqualis (talk) 21:46, 16 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I'm glad I could help. I thought that since it is about a person who died almost a century ago, a minor citation from a commercial source shouldn't be an issue. I really hope that it isn't. FelixtheNomad (talk) 13:19, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Pearl of Peace EV

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Pearl of Peace EV requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pearl of Peace EV. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. GSS💬 13:30, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello FelixtheNomad. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:FelixtheNomad. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=FelixtheNomad|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. John from Idegon (talk) 21:06, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi @John from Idegon:, I am only trying to follow the instructions and suggestions in reviews/discussions provided by editors such as yourself. That is the nature of my edits. Beyond this, I use the Community Portal, WikiProjects, and my personal research and ideas for articles and edits - which sometimes result in already existing articles to which I make edits as and when I find them. None of this is a conflict of interest as per WP:COI. Hope this clarifies. FelixtheNomad (talk) 21:52, 17 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
I notice you didn't answer the question. Please state clearly whether you are being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits. ☆ Bri (talk) 02:37, 18 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
Clearly, unequivocally, and disambiguously - no, I am not receiving any compensation from any person or company in any way. All of my edits are voluntary. FelixtheNomad (talk) 09:38, 18 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have an undisclosed financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future. MER-C 19:03, 16 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Hi, I have read and I understand the Wikipedia policies on all possible COI's. I do not understand why this block has been placed without any discussion with me or providing me with any objective reason. Can you please provide one? As far as I can see, some user claimed that I am a sockpuppet for creating an article about the band Vandalye. Is it a conflict of interest if I listen to a band's music if I am creating its Wikipedia page? I recently requested to change my username, so that my actual name isn't part of it anymore, because I had recently received a couple of messages on my LinkedIn regarding Wikipedia - I mentioned this clearly in my username change request. I also read the noticeboard entry here and it makes no sense. DoshNomad(talk) 10:38, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not actually address the reason for your block. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 02:58, 3 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Thanks for the help

edit

Hi @Rodrigo Valequez:, thanks for speaking on my behalf and helping me out. I can't even seem to get a word in edgewise elsewhere. I'd like to explain something here and if you can see what should be done based on that.

This is the entirety of the reason why I was initially blocked - here. Some user named BatdaCat.M had apparently previously created a page for the band Vandalye, but it was deleted for covert advertising. When I created the page for the band, I was blocked under suspicion that I am a sockpuppet of this BatdaCat person. I don't even know who that is.

Usually if you are creating a page that was deleted once before, a notice shows up on the screen with the details. It had happened twice before - once for Pearl of Peace, the page was deleted for lack of notability, but I thought that with enough sources I can create a draft for it - it was deleted and the draft was never restored. It was also part of the discussion in the Equine project. It happened once more after that, so I didn't create a page for the subject. There was no point.

For Vandalye, there was no notice. Only a redirect. So, I found enough sources to create a draft and establish notability, and published it. Until MrClog mentioned it to MER-C, I didn't even know that the page was created and deleted before. There was no COI, nobody asked me or paid me to make this or any other page, so I can't admit to it. I listen to the band, I looked up if they have a page, found a redirect, found sources, wrote a draft, and published it by removing the redirect. That's all there is to it.

Can you please get an admin to see this? Much appreciated. DoshNomad(talk) 17:59, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

That is not "the entirety of the reason" you were blocked – the rationale is explained in the block notice, and there is a link to the actual discussion (not the minimal exchange of comments in the discussion you linked) just below the block notice, as well. I am not an administrator, but I predict that you won't be unblocked unless you actually address the reason you were blocked and convince the admin reviewing your request that you will not continue with the same type of editing behaviour. --bonadea contributions talk 20:57, 24 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Bonadea:, thanks for the response. However, the discussion was posted after I was blocked. In any case, I've mentioned it before that the discussion doesn't make any sense. Let me break it down as I understand it:
  1. I created several pages, some of which were edited by accounts that were eventually deleted for being sockpuppets (I think it means abuse of multiple accounts by the same user, but I don't see how that applies to me). This is the only account I have and use. - If I am wrong about this point, please correct me.
  2. Some of the pages I edited were also edited by accounts that were blocked at some point. Again, I see pages that are edited by dozens and hundred of people, but I fail to see what does that have to do with me.
  3. There is a Refspam for adding a source to an article about Jigsaw puzzles. A) Why would I reference spam an article about jigsaw puzzles? B) I thought that reference was absolutely fine. C) There was a 'citation needed' tag there to begin with. D) If the reference I added wasn't right, shouldn't the proper approach was to mention in the edit reversal why the citation was invalid?
  4. There was no discussion with me prior to the block. I am being asked to 'confess' to something I haven't done, i.e., admit to being a paid editor. I am not one, why or how should I do that?
I submitted a UTRS appeal to the block a couple of days ago and received an email that I should post the request on my talk page. Not a single admin has discussed the issue with me. DoshNomad(talk) 14:42, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
