General topics lists

There are two types of general topics lists: Outlines and Indexes. Outlines are arranged hierarchically, while the topics in indexes are presented alphabetically.

The vast majority of lists on Wikipedia present the items of a class of things – those are item lists. The rest are general topics lists which are different than item lists because they present the subtopics of a given subject – their scope is an entire subject.

For example, for sharks, the item list is List of sharks and it presents shark species. A general topics list on sharks is the Outline of sharks, and its scope is everything about sharks.

Deletion discussion about Ravidassia/Ramdassia Sikh (Chamar) edit

Hello, Dev Mahey,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Ravidassia/Ramdassia Sikh (Chamar) should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ravidassia/Ramdassia Sikh (Chamar) .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks,

Your efforts at Ramdasia are being reverted because they are very poor. I have already mentioned some of the issues at Talk:Ramdasia but you appear to be edit warring and not responding there. Please read WP:3RR and note the information below. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 08:33, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page about social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties, related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or a topic ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions/South Asian social groups.

I have moved your comments to the last section on that page because adding them to conversations that took place five years ago and which are way up the page is not particularly helpful and could lead to confusion. - Sitush (talk) 09:25, 11 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Shaheed Bhai Jai Singh Khalkat edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shaheed Bhai Jai Singh Khalkat requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of List of Ravidas Gurdwaras edit

Hello Dev Mahey,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of Ravidas Gurdwaras for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. Take a look at our suggestions for essential content in short articles to learn what should be included.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Proposed deletion of Baba Sangat Singh edit

The article Baba Sangat Singh has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No indication of notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi,
As he is a first dalit ( former untouchable ) who became the mayor of Gravesham like Lydia Simmons, who was the first black to become mayor of Slough.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lydia_Simmons
For Gurdip Ram Bungar, this is his second term as Mayor of the mentioned Council. Why this page should be on Wikipedia is because of his struggle being a dalit (untouchable) back in India and the U.K. and becoming Mayor of Gravesham.

The proper references have been provided for most of the eminent people. There are many other caste pages where you will find such a list, but casteist people like you only target pages where information about Dalits is provided. Hi,
On the Punjab Government website of the Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation, both Ramdasia or Ravidasia terms are counted as single caste mentioned in serial number-9.
https://pbscfc.punjab.gov.in/?q=node/21
The government of India has also counted these two synonyms (Ravidasia or Ramdasia) under Chamar caste. Please see the link on the website of the Social Justice Department of India. Page 10 for Punjab and serial number 9.
https://socialjustice.gov.in/writereaddata/UploadFile/Compendium-2016.pdf
I will try to provide more references in the future to clarify the term ravidasia in future edits.

That does not mean you can add their names to Ravidassia. You need to add them to Ramdasia. That is why we have separate articles for both. You cannot add their names to both Ravidassia and Ramdasia, right? Please stick to what sources say. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 10:57, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
