Alba's job on "Jane the Virgin"

Why isn't it relevant? I'm sure people wonder and now it has been documented.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:55, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

@Vchimpanzee: Pleas don't represent yourself as if you're speaking for the community. You're only talking about yourself. I hate it when people do that. To answer your question, I don't see how describing Alba's job is in any way relevant to the show and also please see WP:UNIVERSE. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 18:58, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
So you're saying no one in the world knows this information? And I don't know or care what "universe" means. Some people want to make this process entirely too complicated.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:02, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
I have an idea. While it took me a long time to accept the idea that not all trivia belongs here, see if you can find this information online somewhere. Then my goal will be met.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 19:45, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
@Vchimpanzee: Okay, no. Wikipedia is not about first come, first served basis (or if no one reports it, then I will, in this case). If you can find that Alba's job is relevant to the show without having to update on her past or present in a WP:UNIVERSE way, be my guest. Otherwise, my position stands. She has a job, great for Alba. There is no need to update every new information that comes along when a) no one else writes it and/or b) it is little details that is not relevant to the show. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 19:52, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
I just believe what the person does for a living is something people want to know, regardless of how much that is used in the show. Someone once told me certain information needs to come from a source other than the show itself but all that "universe" stuff is too confusing. Perhaps other articles are done wrong. Regardless, your position may be depriving anyone who doesn't see the specific episode of the ability to find this information somewhere online. I checked and didn't see it, but that doesn't mean I checked everywhere. It is Alba, isn't it? I used to think that was short for Abuela.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 23:40, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

Okay, you may actually be right. The job has only been mentioned twice, and the second time was in the episode where she quit. Now she works at the hotel gift shop. While I think this is information that should be stated somewhere for anyone who might want to know, it's now hard to justify including it here. Yes, I'm several weeks behind.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 18:15, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

WikiProject Good Articles's 2016-2017 GA Cup

Greetings, all!

We would like to announce the start of the 4th GA Cup, a competition that seeks to encourage the reviewing of Good article nominations! Thus far, there have been three GA Cups, which were successful in reaching our goals of significantly reducing the traditionally long queue at GAN, so we're doing it again. Currently, there are over 400 nominations listed. We hope that we can again make an impact this time.

The 4th GA Cup will begin on November 1, 2016. Four rounds are currently scheduled (which will bring the competition to a close on February 28, 2017), but this may change based on participant numbers. We may take a break in December for the holidays, depending on the results of a poll of our participants taken shortly after the competition begins. The sign-up and submissions process will remain the same, as will the scoring.

Sign-ups for the upcoming competition are currently open and will close on November 14, 2016. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors, so sign-up now!

If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the judges.

Cheers from 3family6, Figureskatingfan, Jaguar, MrWooHoo, and Zwerg Nase. We apologize for the delay in sending out this message until after the competition has started. Thank you to Krishna Chaitanya Velaga for aiding in getting this message out.

To subscribe or unsubscribe to future GA Cup newsletters, please add or remove your name to our mailing list. If you are a participant, you will be on the mailing list no matter what as this is the easiest way to communicate between all participants.

It's because of Tenebrae. He/she warns me like this.

"Hi, IreneTandry. Nothing against the production designer; just following consensus. Per WP:FILMMOS, we don't list what are defined as "non-notable" awards, i.e., those without Wikipedia pages (or with newly created stub pages). Thank you for contacting me and engaging in discussion.

I spoke too soon with my thank you. It appears that in addition to violating WP:FILMMOS, you are edit-warring and ignoring WP:BRD to do so. You've been editing since April, so you're no longer a newbie and should know this. If you continue to edit-war to violate WikiProject Film, an admin will be notified."

You can check Arrival without accolades like Hamilton Behind the Camera or Hollywood Music in Media Awards... And actually, I add that two accolades on Arrival with the sources.

Tenebrae called me violating user because I only add the small accolades with the sources, not the big accolades such as Academy or Golden Globe Awards, and you also called me violating user because I remove that small accolades as Tenebrae's suggestion. So you can blame Tenebrae, not me.

IreneTandry (talk) 16:08, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

@IreneTandry: Tenebrae is right. However, you did not indicate why you removed the section. That is crucial and important. If you just remove a section without saying why is not okay. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 16:12, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:44, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Young & Sofia

"Previously in development" does not mean more than 'not picked up' That is what previously in development means. If it were still in development, or being produced, then it would state that it was currently in development, or ordered to series. What else would previously in development mean? It does not mean it was in development, and now ordered to series, is currently being produced, or anything like that. If it were still being made, redeveloped, etc, then it would not be listed as it is, or it would be moved to Freeform's currently in development page. --Jonathan Joseph (talk) 21:20, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

@Jonathanjoseph81: Next time, please respond on your talk page per my box on top of my talk page. Again, you are speculating a show's status. It does not explicitly mention the show not being picked up. No other source mentions it not being picked up, including Freeform (The Hollywood Reporter). You are speculating a show's status. No other sources state it was cancelled and recent sources still say it is being developed. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 21:54, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
@callmemirela It is not speculating, it specifically says the word "previously." Freeform is not going to go out and say "We aren't picking up ____insert show name here___." No source is going to say 'cancelled' since it was not a show, pilots can not be cancelled.
@Jonathanjoseph81: Most shows have an update even when the pilot is not picked up. Like I have said, it does not explicitly mention that the show was not picked up and a reliable source indicated that the show is still in development and no other sources say the opposite. I'm not arguing about whether or not Donald Trump is President-elect. But anyways, it'll eventually be changed to Elected President either on 19 December 2016, 6 January 2017 or 20 January 2017. GoodDay (talk) 23:46, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review needs your help

Hi Callmemirela,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Callmemirela. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Some private matters about Talk:Protests against Donald Trump

A new user called Brave Edit Warrior just voiced his support for that IP editor's content. But I can't help but feel very suspicious about this. Just wanted to let you know. Parsley Man (talk) 21:48, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

@Parsley Man: Thank you for notifying me. I am avoiding this whole topic for now unless I am required for whatever reason. I am letting this play out and see what an admin says. However, now that this "new" editor came in, the username implies a sock (Brave Edit Warrior, really? We all just edit warred over the content), as well as how they write "(It's "lead", by the way.)Brave Edit Warrior (talk)" (BNE) and " (namely, WHY are people protesting? You cannot have a protest article without giving a statement of why people are protesting in the lead.)63.143.194.13 (talk)" (notice the lack of spacing between the parenthesis and signature) and the giant fact that the user is brand new and created 10 minutes ago! Add this to ANI por favor! Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 21:55, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
Got it. ;) Parsley Man (talk) 21:56, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
@Parsley Man: Gracias (: Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 21:57, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
I actually chose to report it at WP:SPI because I was unsure if ANI was the place for it. In the process, I discovered another potential sock for the IP user. Oh, joy. Parsley Man (talk) 22:20, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
@Parsley Man: I think ANI deals with everything. I have gone there to complain about a disruptive IP serial sock, who was blocked. Regardless, thank you so much for your help! Here's to hope we get something good out of it. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 22:23, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
Guess what? Seems like it did. Apparently this all may have been the work of Kingshowman. Parsley Man (talk) 22:41, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
@Parsley Man: Wow, I did not see this coming. Were you the one that merged it with Kingshowman? Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 22:47, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
No. It was Bbb23, who must've seen it and made the connection. Parsley Man (talk) 22:49, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
@Parsley Man: Wow, I also owe him my gratitude and thanks. Since the newest IP, other IPs and user were blocked, I will restore the good version of the article until we establish consensus. Muchas gracias for your help! I can't thank you enough! Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 22:51, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

New Page Review - newsletter

Hello Callmemirela,

Breaking the back of the backlog
We now have 808 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.

Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

Second set of eyes

Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.

Getting the tools we need - 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey: Please vote

With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.

United States presidential election, 2016

I would suggest that you review this:here.--ML (talk) 00:51, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

@MaverickLittle: That is not my position to review as I am not interested. Your lack of understand polices properly suggests that you can't grasp them and maybe competence issues. The edit you called vandalism is not. Plain simple. While it may be another form of editing, it's not vandalism and I want to make it clear to you that you need to reread policies, especially what vandalism is and isn't. The Voice

I'm sorry but I actually did a productive edit on The Voice Season 11 page. Could you check what you're removing before doing it? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CrazyGaal (talkcontribs) 18:28, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

@CrazyGaal: No, it's not productive. You are being disruptive by readding predictions, unsourced and false information. If you readd the same content or similar, I will report you to adminstrators. You've been doing this for nearly a year. It has go to stop. Wikipedia isn't a fansite, it's an encyclopedia. If you want to post your fan fictions, please go to a forum. Wikipedia isn't a forum. WikiCup December newsletter: WikiCup 2017

On 1 January 2017, WikiCup 2017 (the 10th Annual WikiCup) will begin. This year we are trying something a little different – monetary prizes.

For the WC2017 the prizes will be as follows (amounts are based in US$ and will be awarded in the form of an online Amazon gift certificate):

  • First place – $200
  • Second & Third place – $50 each
  • Category prizes – $25 per category (which will be limited to FA, FL, FP, GA, and DYK for 2017). Winning a category prize does not require making it to the final round.

Note: Monetary prizes are a one-year experiment for 2017 and may or may not be continued in the future. In order to be eligible to receive any of the prizes above, the competing Wikipedia account must have a valid/active email address.

After two years as a WikiCup judge, Figureskatingfan is stepping down. We thank her for her contributions as a WikiCup judge. We are pleased to announce that our newest judge is two-time WikiCup champion Cwmhiraeth.

Jack Fellere, Donald Trump and the 2020 election

Please note that Donald Trump was elected president this year. I don't like this at all but there's nothing that we can do about it. As the incumbent, He has been mentioned as the presumptive Republican nominee in 2020 In the mainstream media.

AS to Jack Fallere, there is no evidence that he's running for anything besides a pro-forma letter to the FEC. How was this discovered? There were no mentions of this "announcement" in any media, nothing not print, TV or online. This smacks of "original research." I didn't do anything wrong. Of particular consequence I believe are; "Feliz Natal" which I believe is Portuguese, "Sretan Božic" which is Croatian but Serbians would understand equally well (Srećan Božic for Serbians), and "Joyeux Noël" in French. Hopefully your holidays are getting better. Mr rnddude (talk) 10:42, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

@Mr rnddude: Thank you so much. That was so nice of you (: And yes, that is in Portuguese and I don't speak Croatian or Serbian so I would have no idea. I also wish you happy holidays and the best. May 2017 be better. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} 00:36, 20 December 2016 (UTC)
Lucky then that I speak both. I know you don't speak Serbian, only mentioned it cause of your Serb ancestry UBX. Mr rnddude (talk) 07:00, 20 December 2016 (UTC)

The dispute has occurred between myself and the user several times, much longer than the recent 12 hours. Erzan (talk) 04:30, 27 December 2016 (UTC)

User:Callmemirela - You asked whether the DRN thread should be closed, and said that Ezran only opened it out of frustration at their edits being reverted. You are correct, but that doesn't mean that we need a DRN thread for the purpose. An editor who reverts but doesn't discuss on the article talk page isn't likely to discuss at DRN. I see that there has been very little further edit activity and no further discussion at the talk page or at DRN. So I think that I will close the DRN thread.
