Can you please go through my draft and provide feedback?

Hi, here is a draft - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Kalynn_Campbell - that I edited and formatted with all the neutral references that I could find. The page was already in draft when I got into AfC to put up my version of this illustrator's page, and I found this draft to be lot more detailed as compared to mine. However, the referencing was not proper (although the references were available on the page itself) and it lacked formatting. So I incorporated my info in this and worked on both aspects. Going ahead, I would like an expert opinion on what to do next to get it approved and published as a page. Also wanted to ask if the same reference can be used multiple times in the content body. For example, 2 references I have used twice in the body of the content and going by the original draft, they have info pertaining to much of the content. These are showing up twice in the ref list - is this correct, and can I use them more than twice? Awaiting your feedback, thanks, Vinvibes (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 06:24, 11 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Vinvibes Greetings to you. First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the effort and time to work on the draft. I had a looked at Draft:Kalynn Campbell and since many of the references/sources are from books/magazines which I could not access at the moment and the few online refs do not show the notability of the subject. Please note that subject needs to meets the requirements of WP:ARTIST notability. Secondly, the content needs to support by significant coverage independent, reliable sources where by the souces talk about the subject in length and in dept and not passing mentioned. Listing, interview, homepage, user generated sources, marketing/advertising pieces are considered NOT independent and /or reliable and they can NOT be used to demonstrate/ contribute the notability of the subject. Major newspapers, books and etc would be the sources we looking for. References can be used multiple times in the article as long as the source support the content claimed. Thank you. cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 06:50, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, thanks for going through. Actually all the online sources that I have mentioned bear the illustrator's name on the page itself, as part of crediting him for his contribution. The same goes for the CDs also - they are all wiki pages and they all bear his name under illustrations. I checked on this aspect before using all of these.

Sources - for example, if you can check ref 5 on the draft's ref list - Hope Urban's write-up in a magazine - it validates most of the content. But now that I have mentioned it once, the next time do I just put it as 5, or insert it into the content and let it be represented by multiple numbers in the ref list?
Notability - I did go through the WP:ARTIST list and accordingly used magazines, books and newspaper publications as references wherein an independent source has written about the illustrator. Newspaper is The palm Beach Post which I found as being a renowned publication in Florida. So none of these are by the illustrator himself, they have been written by someone else on him.
Awaiting your inputs on these aspects, thanks again, Vinvibes (talk) 07:53, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vinvibes and 2405:204:221a:35d5:68:8058:59ec:5d8e, For same source in multiple inline citation you just need to name the reference. see (1) for source only cited once (pls see in source edit mode). see (2) - name the reference (name the reference of your choice). (3) reuse the same source (2) on the same article in other part of the body text. (just add "/" before ">".

To me the article does not make it clear/solid enough on how the subject passes the WP:ARTIST. I will leave this to other reviewers to review the draft page as I dont have the access to check on the books references. You could submit the draft for review by clicking the "Submit your draft for review!. cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 08:54, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for the guidance. Let me replicate the 4 sources all across the article and will get back to you again for taking a look. Thanks again, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 09:06, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vinvibes, greetings. I added a few things on the draft. Pls relink the "orange highlighted text" by click on the text and it will bring you to a list of subjects which you may choose from. For example, if Robert Williams (artist) is what you would like to link to then (pls view in source editing mode) place a "pipe" after the article name and place name of your choosing - see here Robert Williams. Please check out Help:Wikitext for common use Wikicode for editing. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 20:24, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, will do as directed and will ping you once I am through. Many thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 05:38, 12 December 2018 (UTC)

  The Guidance Barnstar
Thank you CASSIOPEIA for your guidance; I have incorporated the references as per your guidance. Do take a look if you have time and provide feedback as to how it looks now. Am truly grateful, Vinvibes (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, incorporated all the changes that you had mentioned, except the citation for AvPD. When I went through the original draft, the only mention I found of this is in the book written by the person, in the editor's note which seems to be have been written by someone else. Will it work as a vali reference? The book is by the the person, but the editor's note has been written by his editor by the looks of it. Do let me know on this, because if it does not, then we can remove this bit of info for the time being and may be I can add it later when I have a valid reference for it. Thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 07:25, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
Vinvibes Hi, Secondary (independent), reliable sources are needed to support the subject Wikipedia notability requirements. WP:Primary sources are considered not independent (as it associated with the subject) and at times not reliable (same here - as it associated with the subject) and can NOT be used to demonstrate/contributed to the notability requirement needed. However, primary source can be used for content claimed as long as it is not talk about third party info. In short, the contain claimed in an article in Wikipedia can both be supported by primary and secondary sources but secondary reliable sources in significant coverage (at least 3 or more independent reliable sources) would be the key to claim notability for a page to be accepted in the main page in Wikipedia besides it is also need to pass the notability requirements (for this subject is WP:ARTIST). To answer your question - yes it can be used.
By the way, you dont need to ping the editor when you communicated with them in their talk page, (in Wikipedia we dont use gender (he or she  ; him or her, unless we know the editor's gender. We would use they to substitute he/she, them for him/her and their for his/hers even we only talk about a(one) person). However, if you send a message to an editor or just to inform/notify them in ANY talk pages (including your talk page) you need to ping them, so Wikipedia system will notify them that there is a message which need their attention. You could just type Hi CASSIOPEIA in my talk page instead "Hi {{u|CASSIOPEDIA}}". Thank you for the barnstar and pop back in here if anything else I could help. Cheers and happy editing. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 07:50, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, as usual your guidelines always teach me something new every time and help me evolve as a Wikipedian. So let me apply this editor's note as a citation and let's see how it pans out. In fact I checked out this person's personal website and found many of these interviews and magazine articles and book portions on one of the pages. Am thinking if I should use it in the external link so that all the offline sources could be checked out from there. Thanks a lot for the quick reply, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 08:27, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Vinvibes, Please note interview pieces are considered primary source (even it is not on subject web site) as the info from the piece is mostly gathered from the subject. For external link, do provide only 1 external link unless it is really necessary for another one. - pls see WP:ELMIN.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia in knowledge sharing and it is a friendly place for everyone to edit. It is a tough, up hill struggle for new editors to understand the guidelines, processes and procedures when they started editing in Wikipedia as they have to read ton of texts, links and info where often the editors find themselves lost in abyss and not sure what to do and I was one of them. In Wikipedia as long as an editor edits constructively and asks politely, they would find many willing experienced editors would extend their assistance in kind. I have received many assistance and advice from experienced editors and now I help new editors in the same fashion. I believe you will do the same in time to come. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 09:08, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi CASSIOPEIA, very true - in fact I have been editing on this platform but like they say, learning by doing. Only when you work thoroughly on a page that you get to learn the nuances like which references to add, how to add and so on. Its great to have someone who has already been through the same phase guide you and nudge you in the right direction. Truly appreciate your help, thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:43, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, here is the draft of the page as it stands after the final touches - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Kalynn_Campbell. I really cant think of anything more that I can do on this, so awaiting your inputs, after which I will put it up for review. Thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 10:22, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vinvibes, you might want to choose one of the links for "face to face" (orange text) from here [1]. Made a little changes- see history diff edit summaries. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 13:27, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, duly noted and done. Actually I attributed the correct page in the body of the content, but missed out in the CD list. Many thanks for pointing out, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 16:04, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vinvibes, All is good then. Hope the reviewer who could access to the books would review the page at soonest. Thank you very much for contributing. Happy editing and pop back here if you anything else I could help. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:09, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, regarding the summary - all of it is validated through the various references, and the CD names and albums that are mentioned in the summary bear his name on the respective album pages on wiki. Only his birth I have no idea. And at least till now I am yet to come across any proof of his birth on that particular day and place. The refs mentioned in the original draft did not have any info regarding this bit. So, what should I do regarding this? Any suggestions? Thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 16:26, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vinvibes, If you can find the DoB from one of his books (such as the page where the publisher introduces the author) than you can used it. If not, leave the DoB out from the content. By the way, I have added basic parameter "person infobox" on the page, if you want you can replaced it with the full parameter - see here Template:Infobox person. For the info/use of infobox, pls see Help:Infobox. There are many types of infoboxes and here is the list - Wikipedia:List of infoboxes. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:47, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, will check out the DoB and accordingly decide what to do. Infobox - yes, I will fill it in. Many thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 16:57, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi CASSIOPEIA, have filled in the info box and generally browsed through. His image, I don't have at least of now. If the draft is approved and I manage to find one in future, then I could always insert one. So should I submit it for review? Feeling jittery as to how it will fare, but overall it was a really good learning experience for me. Thanks for everything, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 09:00, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Go ahead and submit the draft for review. Do note that the backlog is about 4-5 weeks for AfC at the moment. However, it would be very quick if a patroller/reviewer come across your draft or it would take a few weeks. If the draft is declined, a message (grey panel at the top of the draft) will appear and stating what is needed/why the draft is decline and sometimes reviewers will leave a comment to detail what is needed. Take the advise and rework the necessary. If the draft is accepted, then it will be moved to new page and once the article is reviewed (again in new page- usually very quick) then it will be published in Wikipedia main space. Great work you have done here and thank you very much for the contribution. Pop back here if anything else I could help. cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 12:10, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi CASSIOPEIA, submitted it, and now awaiting verdict. Thank you so much for all the help and encouragement, will keep you posted as to what happens next. Thanks again, regards, Vinvibes (talk) 16:27, 15 December 2018 (UTC)

Sigmund Freud Institute

Dear bradv, dear Cassiopeia, dear DDG, though being an intensive user of the Wikipedia for many years, as a contributor, I am still a bloody rookie. Learned a lot from you three guys but obviously not enough. My request: would you please have a look at the SFI entry https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sigmund_Freud_Institute in regard to its acceptance. Since my latest exchange with bradv (documented on the talk pages), I put several new references into the entry. The notability, which from my understanding & observation is a big issue in the intern Wikipedia discourses, seems to be given, alone because of the very special, fascinating history of the SFI before, during and after Hitler-Germany. Thank you for your attention, happy to hear from you.

Re: Dan Hooker, Edson Barboza and UFC on Fox: Lee vs. Iaquinta 2

Hi CASSIOPELA, thanks for your message. I got a concern that is it possible to continue follow the sherdog result blindly. I spent more time on chinese wiki than english wiki , there are many users just copying the english wiki infomation with no investigation. I find that in sherdog, it always mix up "knee/kick/punch to the body" and "body knee/kick/punch" in different mma promotion. They make mistake sometimes on asian fighters' record (reason always are same name), some finish time has few second deviation from their offical record, may be not worth mentioning. I will leave discussion to let others know. Skng6135 (talk) 03:32, 17 December 2018 (UTC)

hi Skng6135 Greetings to you and thank you for talking the interest in MMA project. Pls note that the "method" is based on the interpretation of Sherdog.com as per Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts guidelines which were set up years ago before I joined Wikipedia. Sherdog.com info is not perfect but in the broader sense, it contains most complete figters' information in the word and the errors not small. Chinese fighter registered their name with last names (family name) first then their first names (as how Chinese would write their names which is different from the western method) and sometimes the fighters names are the same. Please visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Mixed martial arts and you will see method will based on Sherdog unless press announced otherwise. You could take this discussion to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mixed martial arts if you want, but do not interpret the method yourself until consensus agreement is reach. Thank you. New Article Move Incorrectly - Etta Haynie Maddox

Cassiopeia Thanks so much for your help. I'm glad you could place Etta Haynie Maddox back in my sandbox. I will move it live in coordination with my Wiki Scholars instructors. Just want to make sure I can still add and improve it after it is live.Much Appreciated --Carol7288 (talk) 14:39, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Carol7288 Greetings to you. You article Etta Haynie Maddox in not in your sandbox but is in the pool of new page submission for review (you had moved it there yourself - I just remove the redirect from your sandbox so you sandbox 2 is empty at the moment). You can continue to edit the article. Regardless the article in sandbox, new page submission pool or in draft page, everyone can edit (including you). However, when the article is in the sandbox, the traffic is a little less which means less editors would go there and help to edit. Let me know anything else I could help. Cheers. FAC: Forca Bruta

Hi. I noticed your name on my watchlist (recent edit at The Way I See It) and would like to ask if you can offer comments or a review at this FA nomination? It is for an article on a 1970 Brazilian samba-soul record. My previous nomination for it fell through due to inactivity, so I am putting more effort this time to soliciting input. Merry Merry

  Happy Christmas!
Hello Cass,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 22:49, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Nicknames for UFC fighters

Hey man, putting nicknames the beginning of the article lead is against wiki guidelines. "MisterJay123 (talk) 05:49, 19 December 2018 (UTC)"

hi MisterJay123, Greetings to you and thank you for the message above. Nick names could be placed in the lead section and there are a few ways to do it in lead section and they would be better place after the subject name with "also known as "xxxx" indeed. Pls see Wikipedia:Using nicknames. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 06:43, 19 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi CASSIOPEIA

No sourced content was removed from SMTPS. Some duplicate references has been taken out, but I don't find it problematic to remove 4 different ref's to the same RFC in the references list.   Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2019!
Hi CASSIOPEIA! Wishing you a Merry Christmas and many thanks for all the guidance, looks like the article has been accepted. Regards & God Bless, Vinvibes (talk)
Hi Vinvibes, Thank you for the wishes. Congratulation for Kalynn Campbell being accepted. Instead of using Article for creation (AfC) to create new article, now you can use New Page to do that so the process could be faster as you are familiar what are needed to create an article in Wikipedia. Just go to top right corner and look for the "magnified glass symbol", click on it and it will bring you to search page. Type the name of the article you intend to create and if the result turn out negative (no such title in Wikipedia) and no similiar titles show up, then just click on it and start writing the new article. (Note :AfC is for new editors and NPP is for confirmed editors). Thank you for your contributions, happy editing and happy new year  . CASSIOPEIA(talk) 09:27, 24 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi CASSIOPEIA, WOW - just went through and need some clarification. On this page - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Women_in_Red/Photographers - the first name Lilian Louisa Pitts is in red, so that means that someone needs to create an article on her by doing research and compiling info? And the same applies to all the names on this page? Would love to contribute to this, thanks, regards, Vinvibes (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:17, 24 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Vinvibes, Yes, you could create the article for Lilian Louisa Pitt. Just click on the red ink texts and write away. The links provided some sources you could use (not all are good and you have to find more independent reliable sources yourself). Women in Red is the Wikipedia initiative to create more article about women biographies who are notable as the male articles are way more than female biography articles in Wikipedia (17.8% that of male biography articles) and the % of male editor vs the female editors in Wikipedia is huge different as well. Every month Women in Red would select a region, a specific topic and a specific work related field to encourage editors to create the articles. If you scroll up a few message above, you would see the monthly notification from the project. You could sign up to be the member of the Project and notification will be forward to you monthly. see sign up go to top right "meet our members" at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red. Cheers. Niniola edit

hi, I intentionally removed it because Niniola doesn't want her family information out... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Naijareview (talkcontribs) 02:14, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Naijareview Greetings to you. First of all I do not know who you are for such I dont know if Niniola thinks that. Secondly, Wikipedia is not about what a person, an editor or the subject of the article, wants certain information to be included, but information can be included as long as it is sourced. Lastly, the information contain no meticulously harm to the subject's reputation which is untrue, controversial, negative material or false legal claimed of a crime committed by the subject. To keep on removing the sourced contain of is disruptive, kindly refrain yourself from doing so. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 02:58, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Undersourced?

Please explain your move to draft on the talkpage or return to mainspace Draft:List_of_Transilien_stations Legacypac (talk) 10:02, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Legacypac Hi, it is not unsourced. I had left a message to the creator that it need least 3 independent reliable sources before you message here. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:04, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Three sources is not required for a list of places/stations. We don't need to establish notability for Transilien Legacypac (talk) 10:09, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Legacypac, sources are needed for list article just as other article - see Wikipedia:Stand-alone lists. Group source is acceptable. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:17, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Legacypac Greetings. Creator has just provided additional source. List of Transilien stations in main space now. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:31, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

List of Transilien stations

Hello CASSIOPEIA! Please note I have added a reference to Draft:List of Transilien stations. I am at a loss to find more references, since the original version in french lacks any references. --Dominik (talk) 10:16, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Dominik Greetings and thank you. pls submit the draft now and I will review and get it published. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:19, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Why are you canvassing people to the discussion on warning templates? TonyBallioni (talk) 23:34, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

TonyBallioni Hi, I have no ill will. Those I informed are active vandal fighters like myself especially at Huggle. I just informed them there is a proposal and if they wish to join and did not tell them what to do or persuade them which direction to go. I have yet to place my opinion on the proposal. I am not sure I have done any things inappropriately, if so, kindly advise. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 23:41, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
I don’t think it’s ill will, I’m just also not sure picking talk pages of people seemingly at random is much help. VPR is pretty public, so I think we’re fine letting it be there and maybe posting a notification at WT:AIV. TonyBallioni (talk) 23:46, 28 December 2018 (UTC)
TonyBallioni I know VPR is pretty public, but some vandal fighters might not keep VPR on their watch list and might not know the proposal. My thought was since this is about vandal topic and vandal fighters be might interested to know about this proposal as this not only effect their vandal work in Wikipedia but they have the first hand encounter with vandalized editors and have the knowledge on the warning templates and when and what level of warnings to be given. Thank you for the advice of posting a notification at AIV talk and I will do so. Thanks again. Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 23:58, 28 December 2018 (UTC)

Hello - Draft:Landesförderinstitut

How many references do you want in Landesförderinstitut? Explain me the problem with the article.--1000x2000 (talk) 00:39, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi 1000x2000 Good day. Thank you for popping by and the questions. The explains of the article deletion and declined have been place a few times on the draft and your talk page before. See below for details and pls click on the blue color texts for details info.
  • For an article to be merit a page in Wikipedia
  1. The subject (Landesförderinstitut) needs to pass the company/corporation notability requirements of Wikipedia.
  2. The article need to be written in neutral point of view (no puffery/no marketing tone/no enhancement) written style. The first time the article was deleted, if I remember correction was because the was written seemly to promote the subject.
  3. No copyright infringement
  4. Contain claimed of the article need to be supported by (i) significant coverage (at least 3) (ii) independent, (iii) reliable sources for (iv) verification where by the sources (v) talk about the subject "directly" and not merely passing mentioned.
  5. Sources such as home page, official web site, marketing pieces, sources associated with the subject, press releases, interview pieces, any user generated sites and etc are considered NOT independent and / or not reliable and they can NOT be used to demonstrate/contribute the notability of the subject.
  6. What we after are independent, reliable sources such as sources from published articles from major newspaper, reliable and reputable journals, books and etc.
I believe I have answered your questions. Pop back here if anything else I could help. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:17, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
I think you're being very aggressive and intolerant.
If the problem is the references, I can find them inclusive more information.
--1000x2000 (talk) 01:59, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi 1000x2000 Greeting to you. I understand your disappointment that your article is not accepted to the main space of of Wikipedia. Automatic messages of the deletion (advertising) and reclined (not meeting notability requirements) had been sent to you on talk page a few times explaining what were needed and I have explained again at top what are needed in details to you as per your request politely - not sure how I could be aggressive and intolerant by explaining and carry out what are needed as per Wikipedia guidelines. Good to know you could find independent, reliable sources as per above message indicated, and pls also note the subject has to pass the WP:NCORP notability guidelines. I suggest you to read WP:Your First Article to familiar yourself what are needed and how to write an article in Wikipedia. I will place what are needed on the draft page in the comment section, so you dont need to coming back here when you working on the draft. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 02:15, 29 December 2018 (UTC)

Assistance is required : Possible Edit War

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=UFC_232&oldid=875965487 I explained everything on edit summary but resume edit wars. What action is needed for this? I believe every time a UFC event ends the Bonus awards and Payout (for some states) releases sometime after the event. Colton Meltzer (talk) 06:42, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi Colton Meltzer Good day. Thank you for the link above. The better way to show the edits is go to the article history page and tick on the 2 version (the blue dots) and copy the URL to show the edits. See below (view in source edit mode pls) for examples edit 1, edit 2, edit 3 and edit 4.
Meltzer, the editor do have a point which by right information added should be supported by source even thought, normally / extremely common, such info is added to the articles prior the source is available in UFC events. Info/results of the fights usually added in by editors once the fights are finished as most of the MMA editors reside in Easter to Pacific Standard Time Zone and most of them would not have the energy to stay up to wee hours for the sources to be available. Once the press make the article available online a few hour later, I would add the sources onto the unsourced info on all the related articles.
See here for edit war - defines as more than 3 reverts by the same editor on the same page within 24 hrs except reverting vandalized edits. From the hist diffs it seems 3RR violation has been committed. Report could be make to WP:AN3
As the party involved is a regular MMA active editor, you may want take a softer approach and talk to him on the talk page and seek a mutual understanding and resolution; however, if you want to report the involved party to AN3, you could do so. Choice is yours.Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:02, 30 December 2018 (UTC)

Gennaro Brooks-Church

Thank you for your assistance on this article! Your edits are fantastic and I am learning much from this experience.

Two questions if you will:

  1. I know to add more robust sources and contributions per the START CLASS grading policies, but does the act of bolstering the article get it to graduate to a higher class automatically, or is there a template I should use to request an upgrade when finished contributing?
  1. The subject has a picture to use for a Infopanel, however, he owns the copyright to the pic - I do not. I can not find out to use this picture legally on Wiki. Some direction is appreciated. I am a paid representative of Gennaro Brooks-Church per the COI policies in good faith and have his permission to submit the picture.

THANKS AGAIN CASSIOPEIA!! Jay Bestille (talk) 16:11, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

Wikipedia:WikiProject Portals update #025, 30 Dec 2018

We can now crop the tops of pics to make banners

Before, we could only cut off the bottom of pics.

User:FR30799386 has pulled it off, and made the upgrade to {{Portal image banner}}...

So, this:

Niagara falls, from the Canadian side

Becomes this:

Niagara falls, from the Canadian side

Here's the code for the above banner:

{{Portal image banner|File:American Falls from Canadian side in winter.jpg | [[Niagara falls]], from the Canadian side |maxheight=175px |overflow=Hidden|croptop=10}}

To see it employed in a portal, check out Portal:Niagara Falls.

About that end of the year goal...

We were racing against time to create 5,000 portals by the end of the year (just for the heck of it).

We made it. We've passed the 5,000 portals mark, with time to spare!

And the 5,000th portal is Portal:Major League Baseball, by Happypillsjr.

Congratulations!

What's next?

The 10,000th portal mark. But...

...there is plenty else to do in addition to building new portals:

  1. The new portals need to be linked to from the encyclopedia.
  2. On those portals about subjects that are not typically capitalized, the search parameters need to be refined/expanded, to maximize the chances of Did you know and In the news items being found and displayed.
  3. A Recognized content section needs to be added to each portal that has a corresponding WikiProject.
  4. Addition of a category on those portals that lack a subject category.
  5. Implement the portal category system, adding the appropriate categories to each portal.
  6. Upgrade, and complete (as per the tasks enumerated above), the old-style portals that are not regularly maintained, which have not been converted yet (about 1,100 of them).
  7. Find and fix the remaining bugs in the underlying lua modules.
  8. Build portal tools (scripts) to assist in the creation, development, and maintenance of portals.
  9. Build a script to help build navbox footer templates, via the harvesting of categories, amongst other methods.
  10. Update the portal building instructions.
  11. Update the portal guideline.
  12. Refine the programming of the portals to reduce their load time.
  13. Design and develop the next generation of portals and portal components.

And whatever else you can dream up.

But most of all, have a...
