Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Mahmud Tukur, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Adamawa. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Picture of Shuwa Arab woman for the Baggara Wikipedia Article

edit

Hello how are you doing? I hope your having a great day. The photo you provided is of the Baggara Arab tribe yes indeed but it is not an accurate representation of the Baggara or how they dress and would be unfair and inappropriate to cite thag photo which was taken by a European traveler who had no idea of the culture, dress, and lifestyle of the Baggara and claim this is how their women dress like. I removed the photo because it does not accurately represent the Baggara Arab dress and culture. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 16:39, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

hey. maybe they did dress like that in Bornu as Denham, the traveller, made the drawing while he was in Bornu and from the Shuwa women he met. BlueSahelian (talk) 16:50, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes but this is not an accurate representation of how the Baggara Arab women dress if you want you can bring a modern photo of the Baggara women dress, but this photo only represents a specific section of the Baggara Arab society in Chad, and is not a representative dress of the Baggara as a whole. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 16:54, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
But the people depicted there are Shuwa (Baggara) wearing clothing unique to the Shuwa (of Bornu).
"specific section of the Baggara Arab society in Chad, and is not a representative dress of the Baggara as a whole"
That is why I put "Shuwa Arab women in Bornu (1826)" very clear that these are Shuwa Arab women of Bornu in 1826. I am sure modern Shuwa people of Nigeria and Chad would like to know how their people dressed centuries ago. BlueSahelian (talk) 17:04, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Try Flickr they have many amazing photos of the Baggara in Chad. Cookiemonster1618 (talk) 16:57, 10 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

August 2023

edit

Hi BlueSahelian! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Regarding Adamawa Central senatorial district

edit

Hello, BlueSahelian. I came across your article and wanted to let you know about MOS:COLOR. Basically, it is part of the Manual of Style with COLOR focusing on the accessibility of articles using colors. The reason I brought this up is due to the use of the party colors making it hard to read the text and the links in the Party column. If you can adjust the color to something that MOS:COLORS recommends, then that would be preferred. Alternatively, it might be better to edit the cell to split is and have the color be beside the text, like in this first table. Hope this helps, Super Goku V (talk) 09:24, 28 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Sawaba Declaration

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sawaba Declaration requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://dailytrust.com/nepu-recalling-when-ideology-mattered-to-nigerian-parties. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ⸺(Random)staplers 20:21, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

The URL given in the message above appears to be to another copy rather than to the original, but that doesn't matter: either way it is evidence that the text was copied from somewhere. I have searched extensively and failed to find any evidence anywhere that the text is either freely licensed or in the public domain. If it is, then we need evidence that it is: Wikipedia policy does not allow us to presume that text is available for free re-publication without evidence. JBW (talk) 21:27, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
The text was first published in 1950, 74 years ago. According to Nigeria's copyright rules, the work is in the public domain as it was published more than 70 years ago. BlueSahelian (talk) 21:34, 9 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
