Classical languages

Hi Ashutosh. I am writing this note to you with reference to your claim on the antiquity of Maithili literature. I have gone through the source you have provided "A Survey of Maithili literature" by Radhakrishna Choudharey and disagree with your assessment. True, the source claims old Maithili ranges from 900 AD-1350 AD (page 5 introduction) but provides no information about classical texts from the 9th century/10th century. So this would be the initial period of literalization (inscriptions, simple verses etc). Also, the source claims (page 6) the beginnings of Maithili literature can be traced back to the period Nanyadeva (1097-1147) in his Saraswatihridayalankarahara. Your claim that Maithili literature predates 10th century is not tenable and ony a 12th century claim can be accepted. You can take this matter to an admin and have him decide your case if you like.Pied Hornbill (talk) 18:56, 31 January 2020 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Help:IPA/Sanskrit; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

I do not want to do that, but my edits are reverted again and again, without any sensible reason. I gave many citations and explanations. Even after being reverted, I waited, and answered each question asked and eliminated all confusions. But, they don't want to give a plausible reason. I deleted various transcriptions of Visarga, because it was said to be discussed in talk page. Also, what was it about the prominent edit notice "You are not permitted to modify the lede paragraph of this article without prior discussion and consensus on the talkpage" that you didn't understand? Writing shorter

It takes longer, but it's worth it. Very few people will read an 800-word paragraph. You probably could have cut that to 100 words, but it takes time to edit. I know you've got IRL things to deal with now, but when you're working here, you need to write short, and that takes time, so consider whether you have time to work here or need to do it later when you've got the time.
