Refbegin width parameterEdit

Hello, I noticed that you removed the width parameter from {{refbegin}} in K-Meleon and several other articles like Gulf War. This parameter breaks lists into columns past a certain width. By default, {{reflist}} is set to 30em and {{refbegin}} is set to the content width. That parameter allows an editor to sync the width of each list. This is especially valuable for the percentage of editors still on the old skins where there is no maximum width for the content area. Check out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_War?useskin=vector#Bibliography and zoom out. You'll see that the references from {{reflist}} break into columns but the bibliography just stretches across the entire width of the screen.

If you feel that this is no longer a valuable choice for editors to have, either because the new default theme plus mobile are both fairly narrow, or for whatever other reason, it might be more productive to the raise issue at the template or somewhere upstream in Wikipedia. I expect that the parameter is currently used on a vast number of pages.

And unrelated to that template, thanks for the copy-editing work. Take care, Rjjiii (talk) 03:57, 27 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah true, I thought refbegin also has a default of 30em. Thanks for the heads up @Rjjiii ;) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 07:24, 27 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've reverted it. I thought you did already ;) — DaxServer (t · m · c) 11:34, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

DeletionEdit

I meant to delete "|last=anushkap@abpnews.in" here. What do you see wrong there reverting it? 46.211.243.85 (talk) 10:43, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You've deleted a lot of hidden comments that are inserted to assist and provide info to editors. You can make a new edit and remove that |last=, but not the comments please — DaxServer (t · m · c) 10:45, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
OK, thanks for the clarification.46.211.243.85 (talk) 10:49, 5 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

DYK for Dwaram Durga Prasad RaoEdit

On 7 March 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dwaram Durga Prasad Rao, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Indian violin player Dwaram Durga Prasad Rao, a recipient of India's highest award for the performing arts, was once an apprentice to a painter? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dwaram Durga Prasad Rao. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Dwaram Durga Prasad Rao), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

AMMEdit

@DaxServer User:Arjun Madathiparambil Muraleedharan has been warned by many editors for disruptive edits and removing page content. 3 days ago, I also warned him not to introduce wrong information in Communist Party of India. Yesterday, he removed properly cited content in Next Indian general election without any sort of explanation. Can I warn him like : 'he will be blocked without further warning"? XYZ 250706 (talk) 03:59, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @XYZ 250706 Their edits at CPI article are concerning. Re the new edit removing content, you can use the user warning template - "Removal of content without adequate explanation" - if you want to use a standard template. Wikipedia:Twinkle or Wikipedia:RedWarn can help. I see its not the first time they removed content without any explanation [1] which you've restored — DaxServer (t · m · c) 08:45, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@XYZ 250706 Also, the sourcing is bad. Please add some when you're correcting them — DaxServer (t · m · c) 10:11, 7 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

CPI and CPIMEdit

@DaxServer The template Full party name with color of CPIM shows the name Communist Party of India. Please fix this issue. Here is an example. 1996 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election#MDMK-CPI(M) Front XYZ 250706 (talk) 16:55, 9 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@XYZ 250706 I fixed it. You need to pass |dab=yes to the template where there is a disambiguation to show the full title — DaxServer (t · m · c) 17:51, 9 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What does the title of the review on page 11 say? Can you add it if you can read Telugu? Kailash29792 (talk) 13:29, 10 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Sure, I'll add it in a day or two — DaxServer (t · m · c) 17:26, 10 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Kapil SharmaEdit

Can I know your reason of changing the suggested B class article back to C class ? I believe with regards to the content and references the article is atleast B class if not in all but some WikiProjects. Rejoy2003(talk) 08:02, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Rejoy2003 The article is missing some citations and copy editing is requested. That's why. Also, the rating has now changed to a single rating and deprecated with WikiProject-specific rating, thus the articles will now have just one rating — DaxServer (t · m · c) 08:25, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The article may require copyediting. Regarding the "missing citations", I think it'll be recommended that an "additional citations tag" be placed on the article since it has alot of potential for B class rating. Rejoy2003(talk) 08:29, 13 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

QuestionEdit

Hello DaxServer,

I hope you will excuse me for this error on Wikipedia:WikiProject Film - Wikipedia.

On the French wikipedia I was told that this would be the appropriate place.

Do you know where I could ask my question on the search for this film title ?

Nore11 Nore11 (talk) 10:33, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hello @Nore11 Wikipedia is not a discussion forum to ask questions that are not related to Wikipedia. They belong elsewhere on the internet. Hope you understand! — DaxServer (t · m · c) 10:41, 24 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Akhand BharatEdit

Hello, DaxServer,

Thank you for reverting this bad page move. But in the future, please leave a redirect behind when you do so. Because there was no redirect, if you look here, you can see all of the broken redirects to this article. When a page is moved, Wikipedia bots change all of the redirects to point to the new target. If you move it back without leaving a redirect, those valid redirects are broken and might be deleted by another bot or an admin if they don't see what the problem is. If you leave a redirect, then the bots can change the redirects again to point back to the original page title. I've created a temporary redirect at Portal talk:Akhand Bharat so the bots can get to work and later this redirect can be deleted.

Thanks again for noticing this bad page move and reverting it. Liz Read! Talk! 01:43, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Learn to help fellow editorsEdit

When I ask you to intervene and vote on the topic you dont even find time to intervene, but you find time to teach lesson's. Why didnt you vote yes or no when i asked you to intervene? did u see the message sent by the other editor who closed the topic without consensus ? majority of votes were to keep the article. Unconstructive was the whole discussion including ur untimely deliberate negative intervention, when i Kindly requested you to intervene you dont find time. But you find time to accuse me. Why this much resistance from your side when some one ask u to intervene on afd's ? You are so busy that you neither voted yes nor voted no what is your editorial contribution then when u cant participate in proper discussions. Your job is to attack me and troll me on my talk page or do something and help fellow editors when they are contributing alone. Dont teach me constructiveness when fellow editors dont have it. Unconstructive was the other editor @User:Star Mississippi without consensus closing afd page not me, and what rights you have to warn me ? i just reverted the edits of sheer vandalism by the other editor who closed afd, it is not unconstructive. Going forward do not attack me. Fostera12 (talk) 09:41, 29 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Half job done by you on crucial discussionsEdit

See your half work done here...@Fostera12: I couldn't find the date and review in Zaminryot — DaxServer (t · m · c) 10:59, 20 March 2023 (UTC)[reply] Yes, thank you for your input, I have updated my comment, but the source zaminryot is reliable, and independent. so you would want to retain the article ? Fostera12 (talk) 13:43, 20 March 2023 (UTC) You dont have time to vote keep or dont keep ? This shows that you are superiority complex, and your lack of interest.

If you have that much knowledge, then what you do now is put in deletion review, and rescue the article which is extremely well sourced.
