Help requests re. Indian Telecommunication Service edit

Question re. searches edit

{{help me}} I want that Indian Telecommunication Service page to open if any user searches wikipedia for

1. Indian Telecommunications Services 2. ITS

Anandkharebsnl (talk) 07:16, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Open Indian Telecommunications Services and type #REDIRECT [[Indian Telecommunications Services]]. You are all done. ITS is a disambiguation page and can't be redirected. --Srinivas (talk) 07:37, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}}Thank you, Mr. Srinivas. Actually, I have moved my page created as Indian Telecom Service to Indian Telecommunications Service. It worked alright. Now, I want that same page should open if someone searches 'Indian Telecommunications Service' also. Did uou mean by "open Indian Telecoomunications Service page" in the previous message that I create this page as there is no existing page by this name?

Anandkharebsnl (talk) 12:15, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, normally a search for Indian Telecommunications Services should retrieve the singular form as well. I think a redirect is not required, but if you want to, see at Help:Redirect for how to do it. Calimo (talk) 12:57, 23 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually in the redirection page you have to put the name of the page you want it to be redirected to, so in this case you should type #REDIRECT [[Indian Telecommunication Service]] which is the link to this page. The other form creates a self-redirection.
However, are you sure it is the correct name? A google search for Indian Telecommunication Service or Indian Telecommunications Services seems to return only very few links, at least much less than Indian Telecom Service.

Question re. improving page edit

{{help me}}

kindly help me to improve this page further so that it meets wikipedia quality standards.

Anandkharebsnl (talk) 07:44, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

I have moved your help requests here, to you own talk page. The article talk page, Talk:Indian Telecommunication Service, should be used for discussing the article with other users. Help requests belong here on your own page, and should be as specific as possible.
To improve the article, there are several options available - but first, I need to ask, are you involved with this organization? If you are, you should not be editing the article directly,as explained in the conflict of interest policy - see also WP:BESTCOI and the business FAQ.
If you are not involved in the company, then you could try to get advice and feedback using WP:FEED, or ask for a more formal peer review. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  10:23, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Helpme at Talk:Indian Teleco'''mm'''unication Service edit

Please don't place {{helpme}} at article talks. Place them at your user talk.

2. {{help me}}

I want to change this page name to "Indian Telecomunications Service" because that is the correct name of this service.Anandkharebsnl (talk) 07:48, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please move the page using the move tab on top of the page. --Srinivas 08:54, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
Please don't place {{helpme}} at article talks. Place them here, on your user talk page.
Note, the word "Telecommunication" is spelt with two 'm's.
According to this government document, the correct name seems to be "Indian Telecommunication Service", which is the current name of the page.  Chzz  ►  10:45, 30 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

{{help me}} I created a page on Indian Telecommunicaton Service in middle of August. The page needed some improvements therefore some editor put the following banners on it.{{Multiple issues |article = y |confusing=August 2009 |wikify=August 2009 |jargon=August 2009 |primarysources = August 2009 |refimprove = August 2009 |rewrite = August 2009 }} I have been checking talk pages on the article but no suggestions are there. I want to know when these banners can be removed and by whom? Anandkharebsnl (talk) 11:45, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please read our WP:MOS to wikify the article. You need more sources from sites other than those related to the article. I'll help you in this. Pmlineditor  Talk 13:08, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your request at feedback edit

I'd hoped some others would step in, but that didn't happen. I provided some thoughts, but more work is needed in addition to my suggestions.--SPhilbrickT 22:14, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Yagna sthala bambar beni.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Yagna sthala bambar beni.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 05:39, 13 March 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:39, 13 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Sri_Devi_Bambar_Beni.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Sri_Devi_Bambar_Beni.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 00:11, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

{{help}}

I have uploaded two pictures and both the pictures are personally taken by me with my mobile camera.There are no copyright issues involved on this pictures.Anandkharebsnl (talk) 07:08, 18 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re. File:Sri Devi Bambar Beni.jpg

OK - problem is, you didn't specify that when you uploaded. So, please go to the pages, edit them, and add the code {{PD-self}} (on a line, on its own). That will add a box saying that "I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby release it into the public domain" - so I can't do it for you, it has to be done by you. Then, you can remove the notice saying that there is no copyright information, which is the bit that says, {{di-no license}}.
Thanks,  Chzz  ►  07:15, 18 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

I have uploaded one image today. It was a coverpage of a book called The Creato's Testimony. The file name was The_creator's_testimony_cover_page.jpg.It appears it is deleted without any warning. Does anybody have any information on that?

Anand Khare 12:34, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

You uploaded that image at Commons, which is a separate organization: there is a message about it at your user talk page there - Commons:User_talk:Anandkharebsnl.
Two pieces of advice: the place to post "helpme" templates is here on your own talk page, or possibly on the talk page of an article you want help with; and the way to sign your posts on talk pages is by ending them with four "tilde" characters ~~~~, or by clicking on the icon above the edit screen, fourth from the left in the top row, which looks like the end of a pencil. Either of those automatically produces a signature with your username and the time and date, like this: JohnCD (talk) 13:30, 4 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks JohnCD,

It was a great help. Regards.

License tagging for File:The Creator's Testimony cover page.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:The Creator's Testimony cover page.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 10:07, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

{{help me}}

File:The Creator's Testimony cover page.jpgis a scanned image of the book cover. The scan is carried out by me. Can I put {PD-self}? I am sure There is no copyright violation in this case. Would {attribution} is a better option. The tag list makes no sense for me. Too complicated. Pls suggest few tags. I will put the most appropriate out of them.

--Anand Khare 12:30, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. You did not create the cover and so have no ownership of the copyright and cannot release it into the public domain. Think about it: if anyone could take anyone's work and photograph it or scan, etc. and by doing so own the copyright, copyright would not be worth anything at all. This image is assumed fully copyrighted unless you can show otherwise—that the author of the cover art release it under a free license or into the PD. Barring that, it can only be used under a claim of fair use. So what you would need to do is add a fair use rational.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:43, 5 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
You just added a copyright tag, not a fair use rationale. I have fixed it, but you need to fill in the "source" field: see the red error message in the template that the source is missing; add there the URL of the page you took the picture from. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:06, 6 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Deletion edit

The page got deleted because it made no assertion of notability. Being published by a vanity press is not an assertion of notability, it is an assertion that you paid them $200 (or however much it was).

I am under no obligation to warn anyone before I delete a page. I do it sometimes, out of courtesy, and to allow people to participate in debate.

However, in this case there was nothing to debate. DS (talk) 22:57, 26 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Coming here, I can not think of anything more likely to turn away people who might have the possibility of being good faith users. DS, you're helping to make a good case for why it should be absolutely required.But that does not mean the article is satisfactory--see below. DGG ( talk ) 15:07, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Help edit

My article about The creator's testimony was deleted by User:DragonflySixtyseven|DS without any warning. When I asked the reason, he replied in a very offensive tone as above. Even I don't have a copy of that article. How can I escalate the matter to a higher body in Wikipedia.

--Anand Khare 07:46, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

I am currently consulting with the admin in question. While I have some concerns about the process xe used, ultimately, xe is almost certainly correct that, no matter what process used, the article would have eventually been deleted. See, on Wikipedia, merely existing is not enough for something to have an article. The subject (the book, in this case) must be WP:N notable. For a book, that means that independent, reliable sources have written about it: reviews in major newspapers, discussion in scholarly journals, etc; or, perhaps, if it is found in a very large number of libraries, or other similar criteria (you can see a specific list at WP:NBOOK). Since, as DS points out, this is a self-published book (by "vanity press", xe means that the author paid to have it published), it is highly unlikely that that is the case; I took a look at the article and saw that there was no assertion of notability. If you have reason to believe that the book is, in fact, notable, I can make a copy of the article available to you in your userspace to work on. However, if the book doesn't meet the notability criteria, it won't really help, since you could never move it into mainspace without it eventually being deleted. Let me know if a copy of that will help you; meanwhile, I'll be following up with that other admin.
Oh, final note--you can request that the article be undeleted, but I guarantee you that in its present state that won't happen, except as a draft for you to work on in your userspace. But, if you really want to pursue that, let me know and I'll explain how. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:24, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Since you don't have email activated, the easiest way for me to send it to you is for you to email me, and then I can reply to you. Just go to Special:EmailUser/Qwyrxian and send me a message, then when I get your address in my email account I'll reply to you. Qwyrxian (talk) 11:41, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Qwyrxian, I think he cannot use email in Wikipedia unless he activates his own. Anandkharebsnl, you can do this from your user preferences page. DGG ( talk ) 17:45, 29 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Anand, I responded to your message and sent you a copy of the deleted article. Let me know if you have any more questions. Also, if you ever get evidence that the book is notable in a Wikipedia sense (that is, that it has been discussed in detail in multiple, independent sources), let me know and I'd be happy to help you transform that into a full article. Just leave me a message on my talk page. Qwyrxian (talk) 22:37, 30 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
