Oculus Rift S and other

Hello, I saw your edits on Oculus Rift S talk page, so I guess you are interested in the topic as well. I have a few questions:

  • You added the page to "Computing" and "Video games" projects. What do you think of Comparison of virtual reality headsets? Is it worthy of inclusion in "Video games" project?
  • Is there a sidebar template for VR headsets? I didn't find one. I elaborated on this idea on the Oculus Rift S talk page.

Thank you for your time.Anton.bersh (talk) 21:51, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Hello @Anton.bersh:. Welcome to Wikipedia. I actually mostly do maintenance and countervandalism here, which brings me to a wide variety of pages. I am somewhat interested in the Oculus Rift, and I think it's great that you created an article, but I don't really know much about the subject. As for your questions:
  • I don't know if the "Video games" Wikiproject would be interested in that article (I'd assume yes, but I'm not actually familiar with that project), but the going policy on Wikipedia is to be WP:BOLD. If you think the changes you want to make are helpful, then go right ahead, there's no need to ask anyone else. If WP:Video games doesn't want to take the article on, they can just remove the template.
  • I don't believe there is a infobox template (or sidebar) specifically for VR headsets. The article for the original Rift uses {{infobox information appliance}}, and you may have noticed that HTC Vive has been using the basic {{infobox}} for custom fields. I haven't been able to find a VR specific infobox either, but maybe the people at the WP:Help Desk or one of the wikiprojects would have more luck.
Again, welcome to Wikipedia, and good luck with your future editing. Alpha3031 (tc) 04:46, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

JerzyA, the renegade admin formerly known as Jerzy.

Noted yr mention. I hesitate saying I'm sorry, 'coz I kinda revel in irony. I don't so much need anything as I could use my former clarity, an', I guess, my arrogance back. I asked to be de-admin-ed bcz my judgement is falling apart. Only my fading ego cares about being acknowledged as having vague continuity with my past. Doing my best to to keep on enjoying the life & time presumably left to me, & hopefully offering more useful edits, than annoyance, to the project. If anyone really cares whether what I say is true, my opinion is that they should ask user:Jerzy it's so, but he won't answer. I figuratively murdered myself by aging, tho perhaps the URLs, or rather ip-addresses, accompanying some of my early edits that are preserved and reflect our Dummer, N.H. hangout, can reasonably confirm the fact that I'm still living with his wife and that his edits started from locations consistent with my assertion of our having owned a hangout, back when User:Angela was claiming that many of those piqued by the wiki concept had something to offer to a new crusade. It won't matter to anything but my irony-tinged satisfaction: the Ecclesiast really was just another vain voice crying out in the wilderness, since there are no prophets, and my recruitment was an insignificant event, worthy of no concern about to the possible validity of my story, nor are many still left up there who would still bother remembering us. (We and the new church faced the Androscoggin, and, across a side road, off a road north to what some would call nowhere, but hikers and rock climbers call the great outdoors; there are few left there who'd bother admitting to remembering us. (We do still own the same house we did, back here in CT, BTW; you also might be able to identify (by any first IP-address edits that I may have made) that geography. Airtight proof that we are the same person is perhaps far-fetched, but not compared to the paranoia suggested by alarm at my claim of abandoned status. Anyone remember who called a mayor of New York "an unfrocked fink". Ah, now that was a derogation with which one might conjure, raising dire shades. Stop JerzyA now!--JerzyA (talk) 06:32, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

RD1 request

I tried to carry it out, but I was unable to view https://www.earlpalmer.org/about

Not sure why.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:26, 16 April 2019 (UTC)

Kamma

I did carry out the RD1 you requested here

I wanted to make one point in case someone thinks I missed something.

I do note that the source material contains a note: "Source: Wikipedia and kammavar Sangam"

However, even if the edit is a copy of material from Wikipedia, it clearly does not belong on the dab page. I also look to see if it was simply a copy of material from Kamma (caste), but that doesn't appear to be the case. I checked the Internet archive and see a version from 2009 substantially similar to the current material, so while that source material may have relied partially on Wikipedia it doesn't appear to be simply a copy of Wikipedia text.

There's a request and it ought to be removed from the dab page, the only open question is whether it technically should be RD1 as a copyright violation. I've chosen to go ahead and do so, but if it's some hypertechnical editor wants to check through the history it is possible we should simply remove it is supposed to revision delete it. A certainty that it ought to be removed I don't think we create any harm and also doing the revision deletion on the high likelihood that there is some material subject to copyright other than Wikipedia.--S Philbrick(Talk) 18:45, 25 April 2019 (UTC)

Bundling?

Hi. Thanks for renominating those articles. I had a previous experience with a bundled nom here that closed no-consensus as "a mess", leading to individual re-noms closing as consensus to delete (here, here, and here). I found it annoying and a huge waste of time, because the end result was the same. People say "don't bundle!" but then have nothing substantive for the individual nominations. My second bundled nom was recently at MfD, and again I got crap for bundling. So I've sworn off bundling, which is why I nominated those 10 articles individually (though I think they should have been a bundle, even in the first place). To me it's easy enough to strike an item from a list of bundled articles if someone shows GNG, but for whatever reason, AfD voters seems to get upset about bundled noms. Annnnyway, enough ranting from me. I came here to ask: do you think it'd be easier/do you intend to unbundle and re-nom them individually? As much of a pain in the butt as that would be, it'd be worse if we had to do it again next week. Levivich 16:09, 26 April 2019 (UTC)

Levivich, I intend to strike and renom any article that looks like it might have something approaching sigcov, but I don't really particularly care if it gets relisted several times and then closed as no consensus again, renominate separately—I'm sorry if that's inconsiderate towards anyone. The articles aren't going to magically turn into something that's worse than just non-notable in the meantime. I bundled because the deletion rationales are identical and so were the keeps, and it does not seem to be changing for this AfD. Alpha3031 (tc) 01:20, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

About Copyvio

Hey, How did you checked the content on Insurgency in Tripura is copy-pasted from the website you mentioned in your edit summary, I mean what do I have to do if I also want to check the same on other articles? if the information is copyrighted or not? CopyVio is tool right but I didn't find to request the access. --WikiLover97 (talk) 10:41, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi WikiLover97, sorry for the late reply, I went out to eat just then. I'm fairly sure Earwig's is available for anyone to use but if it doesn't work for you, you can always just run a few suspicious sentences through Google, that's pretty similar to what Earwig does anyway. There's also a guide at Wikipedia:Spotting possible copyright violations that goes over some signs of copying if you're interested. Good luck! Alpha3031 (tc) 11:53, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Hey, Thank You <3 (I have changed my Username) I read it, and also found a way to spot copyrighted sentences, thanks cheers SidPedian (talk) 14:31, 18 May 2019 (UTC)

Editing in Cryptocurrency/Blockchain category

Hello!

Thank you for your response to my first question. I am still rolling around Wiki. Will I be able to edit again? I am not familiar I needed to leave comments on every change I have made. When will the restriction be lifted?

Thank you. Mickieann (talk) 11:59, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

@Alpha3031: Hi again! Thank you for the infos. On my previous edit which was removed again, I was just updating infos from our FB page, does that mean I only need to cite 1 link to all edits? Mickieann (talk) 04:53, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Mickieann, it would be best to avoid using information directly sourced to official (first-party) sites, as they are highly likely to be promotional in tone, at least somewhat. Even attempting to remove any promotional language is less than desirable — maintaining text–source integrity means we should endeavor to accurately reproduce inflections in our own copy where allowed.
Looking at your talk page, it seems that the reason your edit was removed is because you copied text directly from a source. Due to our copyright policy, any such copying is considered a copyright violation. If you own this text, it is possible that it be considered for inclusion, as long as it doesn't have any tone or reliability issues. However, you must email an OTRS agent beforehand to officially verify that you can (and wish to) donate the text for use. If you do not do so, there is unfortunately no choice for us but to remove the content.
Finally, if you are affiliated with the subject you are editing about in any way, you should read our policies on Conflict of interest. There is also a simplified guide of what you should be aware of to get started. Alpha3031 (tc) 07:28, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

@Alpha3031: Thank a lot for all the information. And I apologize for the wrong revisions I have made. Mickieann (talk) 00:33, 7 June 2019 (UTC)

ACC tool access request approved

Thank you for your interest in the account creation process. I have verified that you have signed the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic personal data and approved your request.

You may now access the interface here. Before you begin handling requests, please ensure you have read and understood the account creation guide and username policy to familiarize yourself with the process.

Please subscribe yourself to the private ACC mailing list following the instructions on that page. I also advise that you also join us on IRC #wikipedia-en-accounts connect where a bot informs us when new account requests come in and you can get real time advice on how to handle requests.

Please note failure to correctly assess requests will result in suspension of tool access. Account creation is not a race, and each one should be handled diligently and thoroughly. Releasing personally identifying information (such as IP and email addresses), whether intentionally or unintentionally, is treated very seriously and will generally result in immediate suspension.

Currently you are allowed to create up to six accounts per day, and you won't be able to create an account with a similar name to that of another user; these requests are marked as "Flagged user needed" on the interface. However, if you reach the limit frequently, you can request the account creator permission at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Account creator.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any questions. Thank you for participating in the account creation process. Again welcome! — JJMC89(T·C) 01:19, 11 July 2019 (UTC)
