Station Name

I don't believe that the name of this station was ever "Yarmouthport".

All of the old timetables on this link: Cape Cod passenger railroad timetables from the past have the station name listed as just "Yarmouth".

Before I consider fixing this I would like to know what others think. FFM784 (talk) 03:41, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

My feeling at the moment is that it would be best for the stations on Cape Cod to be referred to, as almost all of them are, using the the official name as they appeared in the operating railroads timetables. FFM784 (talk) 02:54, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

– With stations known as "Yarmouth" in Massachusetts and England, the term has no clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC by sources or pageviews, so a disambiguation page should occupy the base name. The dab is better named in sentence case to match most of its entries. There are only 2 articles, each of which has a different title, and both of which get small numbers of views, with the dab page getting almost none.[1] The current setup seems to be working fine.   "(Isle of Wight)" is used to distinguish from other English stations such as Blackwater railway station and Mill Hill railway station (Lancashire), but I suppose it would avoid ambiguity with Yarmouth Vauxhall railway station. Dicklyon may remember, but I think there have been several cases now where we've moved articles that were technically disambiguated at x station and x railway station, recognizing that it wasn't really enough on its own. • Support there are (or were) four railway stations in England to which this name could apply: Great Yarmouth railway station (which has at different times been named Yarmouth Vauxhall and simply Yarmouth); Yarmouth Beach railway station; Yarmouth South Town railway station and Yarmouth railway station - this last one is the one on the Isle of Wight, strangely undisambiguated - the other three being far more important than the IoW one at any time of their respective lives. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2020 (UTC)
