• The above blog entry Controversial Subject #1 - Winston Sterzel was written on a ranting South African furry blog and none of its contents are verifiable. The author of the article admits not having had contact with Mr. Sterzel since he left for China and in fact acknowledges his achievements. Validate if Engineer qualifies as propery dictionary term as Repairman Technican

As of July 5, article does not say where he lives. That should suffice. Documenting that he currently lives in the U.S. would not be a useful addition, as he could return to China, or move elsewhere. Disruption

Ad Orientem, NinjaRobotPirate, what do you make of all this nonsense? The IP, who starts with 170 and with 68, was right about the sock, but goes about everything else the wrong way. I blocked the 170 IP for one week because they're using a FedEx IP. Without TPA so we don't have to listen to them anymore. The 68 IP hasn't edited since July 5, so I see no point in doing anything there.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:01, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

• I added information to the article about Sterzel's plan to leave China. This 20 November 2018 article from Taiwan News notes:

  Ultimately, Sterzel concluded that, in order to continue to produce "positive content" about China, it would be more effective if he left the country for extended periods of time. Though he surmised their still may be some positive aspects to China, he said "it's difficult to see the positives when you're under a vice."

  In a video titled "China is Going Through a Scary Change" on the YouTube channel ADVChina, Sterzel alluded to an apparent run-in with Chinese authorities which is also prompting him and his fellow YouTuber laowhy86 to leave China.

I had changed the sentence from "Winston Sterzel is ... based in Shenzhen in the Guangdong province of China" to "He was based in Shenzhen in the Guangdong province of China" (which means he used to be based there but no longer is based there). I would like to retain mention in the article that he had been based in Shenzhen since his activity there is central to his notability. The problem with this source is that it is a self-published source (in other words, a personal blog). We cannot use these sources to reference biographies of living persons, unless the site is run by the subject themselves. To support controversial claims", we would need an independent, reliable source like CNN or BBC that discusses these claims, not some personal blog made just to criticize him. Appears to be a promotional article, due to the following that I read on that's mag's about page (http://online.thatsmags.com/mediakit/): "We provide an array of digital advertising solutions, with a commitment to establishing the most productive and efficient way to ensure maximum exposure" - to me it appears that interested parties can actually buy advertising or marketing packages that may include articles, meaning that the source would not be truly independent of the subject of the article Chrisanthusjohn (talk) 19:04, 10 August 2022 (UTC)

Requesting information/attention to impending and current sabotage

I have been a fan of Winston since the motorcycle days, and continue to watch the China Show. I suspect, with basis that meets the standard of a reasonably prudent person, that with increasing tensions between China, Taiwan and the West, that this article will be sabotaged. Winston is one of the more visible Western commentators on China (now that he and his loved ones are outside the immeadiate reach of the goverment) who is willing to be critical and substantiate his claims. As we know, this is an unacceptable position to Chinese nationalists.

For reasons supra, I would like to ask the following: 1) How has this article been edited in the past to discredit, demean or reduce the content of Winston's veracity up to this point, and 2) What integrity-protecting measures does WP have in place to prevent sabotage in the near future, should he break a vital but critical story amid even higher tensions of example, and 3) In the context of this subject and others of similar standing as him, are citations to wp:rs that are Chinese-based considered impartial? After Following his departure from China, Sterzel's YouTube channel took a sharp turn into criticism of the Chinese government, using hyperbolic video titles such as "How China is slowly KILLING us all."", add "Sterzel has stated that his increased focus on negative aspects of the country is in response to Chinese state and state-affiliated media "only ever put[ting] out positive pieces [...] that praise China to no end" and "[never] bring[ing] up the [...] negative parts of Chinese society."

The entire article is effectively reproducing what Winston said in one of his videos with timestamps, and is quite clear that it's quoting him as every paragraph begins with "Sterzel describes", "Sterzel pointed out", "Sterzel concluded". The entire article should be deleted. This guy is the rear-end of the clown horse headed by Matthew Tye, another self-promoting bullshit artist. Regardless of whether he is reliable or not, I think this article leans very heavily on primary sources. Very little of his personal life has actually been verified by RS, particularly the "he said he had a run-in with the police".
