Wayland → Wayland (disambiguation) – I would like Wayland to redirect to Wayland (display server protocol), I think even in the Wikipedia it is recognized as being important enough by now User:ScotXW^t@lk 19:22, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

You are right, Wayland is also missing in the Guinness World Records, that is why only few people search for it... we could of course rather compare the Wikipedia page hits of Wayland protocol and Wayland rest ...User:ScotXW^t@lk 20:15, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Found it: Wayland protocol: 11392 times in 201403 Wayland: 971 times in 201403 and the Smith 3172 times in 201403; that is an argument in my eyes. Let's move the page. User:ScotXW^t@lk 20:30, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

• Oppose per IIO; hits for this month are going to be skewed, since it was listed in a rename discussion. Hits should be compared over the entire 2013 year. Wayland → Wayland (disambiguation) – I propose that Wayland redirects to Wayland the smith, which would have beneath the title a link to the disambiguation page. From what I can see, the legendary smith is the oldest attestation of the name by far and has the second-highest number of viewers (with the highest being the "display server protocol"). Though the naming of this protocol page I can't find easily, it seems most names on the main page are derived from the legendary figure, be it indirectly or not.--Ingwina (talk) 21:09, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

And checking up on your claim, it seems many of the things (towns, institutions, schools, etc.) named "Wayland" on this list are named in honor of Francis Wayland, who was a very influential Baptist leader (I'm guessing many first personal names are also after him, in the common American fashion of using religious leaders names like Wesley, Calvin, etc. as first names). And Francis Wayland in turn is named after the English region of Wayland, Norfolk, which name has nothing to do with the mythological creature, directly or indirectly. In fact, I see nothing on this list (save for one neolithic site) named after the creature. Walrasiad (talk) 22:07, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

• Oppose The protocol received more than twice the daily average of views last year compared to the smith. Discounting the author Patricia Kennealy-Morrison listed only for title of a book, there are still several other pages that had a non-trivial average daily view. The smith is clearly not the primary topic. And evidence for the protocol being primary is not overwhelming. older ≠ wiser 22:03, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

• Strong oppose Wayland (display server protocol) gets more views (12,307) that Wayland the Smith (3,908) and Wayland, Massachusetts gets 1,488[[1]].
