• yes, it also needs to outline the fact that they are not only a Chinese ethnic minority but one of the national ethnic minorities of Burma - this information has to go beyond drug trade and armed rebeliion, as that is more of a reductionist point of view that does not take into account the cultural and historical background of this group in Burma. I'm working on this, but it might be a while until I get to this article, so if someone else wants to go for it, that's great. --Xiu Xiu 12:20, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Flag

What exactly is the status of the flag that was added to the article? Is ist the flag of an administrative division, a political organisation? The byline is no sufficient explanation. —Babelfisch 03:10, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

The byline was changed to "Flag of the de facto Wa State in Myanmar". That's not much better. The Wa State seems to have been merged with the Shan State after independence. Did the flag have official status before that merger? What does it stand for today? Va people → Wa people – These people are usually called "Wa". Almost all reliable sources refer to them as the "Wa", and so do other articles pertaining to them on Wikipedia. In fact, this article was originally at Wa, but someone unilaterally moved many years ago. For whatever reason, I can’t find the actually move, but I see it in the edit summaries and the change in text from "Wa" to "Va".
