The article says athletics, but the logo says athletic. Should the Article be renamed University Athletic Association of the Philippines?

Founding Members

FEU is a founding member. Here's why:

The Big 3 as it was called became a success and on April 6, 1932, its Article of Agreement was renewed. It was also during this time that these three universities seceded from the NCAA. The big 3 continued for the next six years until the Board of Directors of the UP Alumni Association suggested to then UP President Jorge C. Bocobo that a new inter university athletic be instituted. Having taken initiative, first with the NCAA and then with the Big 3, it was only natural that the UP again take the reins of leadership to organize a university athletic association. The representatives of the three universities together with the Far Eastern University, which was already dominating the sports scene of the period, met at the PAAF Office. 1. NU, UP and UST seceded from the NCAA due to commercialization.
2. ADMU, UP, DLSU and UST founded the Big Four league.
3. The Big Three league was dissolved.
4. The Big Three then referred to NU, UP and UST.
5. FEU is not a part of the Big Three.
6. The Big Three, together with FEU, founded the UAAP on September 27, 1938.

Move to University Athletic Association of the Philippines

http://www.uaapgames.com/uaaphistory.shtml -> "The representatives of the three universities together with the Far Eastern University, which was already dominating the sports scene of the period, met at the PAAF Office. They formally organized the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) on September 27, 1938." -> only the header says "Athletics", but the rest of the articles (and even the logo on the site) refer to it as the University Athletic Association of the Philippines.

Reference to University of the Philippines

Although UP Diliman represents UP in the UAAP, we should denote all UP's in the articles pertaining to the UAAP as "University of the Philippines" for uniformity. WE do not refer to "De La Salle University" here as "De La Salle University - Manila" and "University of the East" as "University of the East - Manila." UAAP logo

Hi. Thanks to Philtro for making an SVG version of the logo. Can we update it though? The logo changes every year, in that the circle on the top of the logo sports the colors of the current host in a rotating pattern (which means that the logo should have the DLSU circle on top this year, and the Ateneo circle on top next year). I changed the colors. As per this (http://www.facebook.com/uaapseason73), Ateneo uses a darker blue compared to Adamson, so I guess this was just a question of placement. Besides, Ateneo's blue (ultramarine, which is close to the royal blue that they use) is closer to the color I'm using, and it does not use a shade that looks like sky blue. Adamson, on the other hand, does, at least based on their jerseys. But if this makes you uncomfortable, we can probably use a shade of blue that is closer to navy blue for Adamson. Brand Identity (to replace Seal section)

Can we get a consensus on which term to use for the section, as this will tackle both the old seal and the new UAAP logo as part of the organization's brand identity? Will "Brand Identity" be OK then? Thus, we also need help with expanding this section to discuss the logo rebrand rationale and the outcome of the logo design contest or rebranding process, including a brief description of the new logo. Concerning the UAAP logo on this article

The current UAAP "sipa" logo which is appeared on this Wikipedia article actually turns out to be not a final and official logo of the league. The one in the article is only just a winning contest logo that will serve as a basis on its official logo. If you compare the winning contest logo and the official logo, they appeared to have very different colors. Here are some reliable sources where the official UAAP logo made its appearance:

It is because the logo, much like its predecessor, ALSO changes with the change in the host school. The winning logo as presented and as used here is like a template for the "changing" logo. So, we keep this winning logo in the article as it is the basis of a "changing" official logo, much as we keep a "version" of the former seal here. Aeron Valderrama (talk) 13:23, 5 April 2022 (UTC)

College sports articles naming

We currently have UAAP and NCAA varsity team articles, and we have a handful of basketball, volleyball and football teams articles, all have varied naming conventions. It's time to unify the naming conventions. Here are my suggestions:

• Varsity teams: Current name, "<School short form> <nickname>"; example: "UP Fighting Maroons"
• Specific sport teams:
  • Men's teams: "<Varsity team name> <sport>"; example: "UST Growling Tigers basketball"
  • Women's teams: "<Varsity team name> <sport>"; example: "De La Salle Lady Spikers volleyball"
  • Exceptions: If men's and women's have the same names, disambiguate like this: "<Varsity team name> <gender>/<level> <sport>"; example: Ateneo Blue Eagles men's basketball, Ateneo Blue Eagles women's volleyball, and so on. (All Ateneo teams are "Blue Eagles" irregardless of sport, gender or age group.)
• Season articles:
  • General season article: "<League short name> Season <number of season>"; example: "NCAA Season 98"
  • Specific sport article: "<League short name> Season <number of season> <sport> tournaments/championships"; example: "UAAP Season 82 basketball tournaments"
  • Specific tournament article: "<League short name> Season <number of season> <gender>/<level> <sport> tournament/championship"; example: "NCAA Season 97 seniors' basketball tournament"
  • Season articles per team: "<year> <specific sport team name> team"; example: "2021 Letran Knights basketball team"

    • Category:UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team seasons will all have to be renamed. "2021 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team" becomes "2021 UST Growling Tigers basketball team", and so on.

Basis: This naming convention is derived from WP:CBBALL and WP:CFB. Take note that most US college sports teams are mostly universally named regardless of gender, so the women's basketball teams of North Carolina are also the "North Carolina Tar Heels women's basketball" (not as the "North Carolina Lady Tar Heels" as you would probably expect).
