Birth date

He was born in a place that was still using the Julian calendar. Is 8 May from that calendar (which equates to 21 May 1914 in the Gregorian), or has it been already adjusted from 25 April 1914? -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 04:25, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately as everyone seems to quote May 8, 1914 I can only guess that it has already been corrected. But as many sources quote other sources (often without referencing them) it is very difficult to say what is really true. You raise a valid point. On July 27, 2010 David Bellos wrote to me: Gary was born 8 May 1914 by the Russian (Julian) calendar, equivalent to 21 May 1914 in the Gregorian (Western) calendar. I presume this answers your question. --JHvW (talk) 14:04, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Biography

The paternity of Romain Gary has been disputed. Even by Gary himself, but he has also contradicted it. This is the reason why only mention is made of the book by Dominique Bona. --JHvW (talk) 00:55, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Nationality - French??
