Language/People Split

I really think this article should be split into Quileute people or just Quileute (for the people) and Quileute language. It seems too confusing for there to be a single article for them both. Of course, it is a stub, so maybe that explains it. --TheSlyFox 12:06, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

Also agree, and ideally a further one for their government. Similar needed splits are common in Native American/First Nation articles; I've made quite a few of them, i.e the splits; mostly just making two stubs nd let 'em grow from there....some growk, some don't, but it helps sort out the categories a lot....Chemakum also, as it happens, needs a similar split (they're Quileute's cousins and adoptees).Skookum1 (talk) 04:08, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

PS evolved format should be Quileute for the people, Quileute language for the language; only if there's a situation like Okanagan people is the +people needed; or in some cases where there's a big disambig potential where the single-word becomes the dsismbig page, e.g. Squamish. Wolves?

• It is worth noting, however, that, as the Quileute believe themselves to be descendent from wolves (as mentioned in the article), the depiction of them as werewolves was seen by many within the tribe as highly offensive. • The story told in the "Twilight" about the Quilette Legends was close enough to their History..

The Werewolves of the Quilette history were the actual werewolf. They turned into the big animals(werewolves) for hunt when the night starts. This was because they reached upon biggest sins and were cursed by the nature. In the real history of Quilette Tribe some of those sins include "Murder of their Own Parents". This is the reason that they were cursed and change into wolf in night. Quileute characters in Twilight

A lot of the recent edits have been adding characters to that section. Would most of the characters be covered by just saying "the Black family, the Clearwater family, and..."...? I'd do it, but I don't want to touch stuff about Twilight. Ian.thomson (talk) 16:01, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

Alternate spelling?

I used to spend a lot of my time in and around Forks, before the Twilight fans turned it into a tourist trap. I've also been down on the res a lot, and I've seen the name spelled "Quileyute" more than once. Quileute people → Quileute – target was moved to "Quileute (tribe)" by JLippert on April 18 2007, then made into dab on Oct 2 2009 by Mdnavman, then moved to current title by Kwami on June 8 2010. This is a PRIMARYTOPIC and MOSTCOMMON issue, the people are by far the MOSTCOMMON and original/primary use of this term and WP:UNDAB needs to be observed. Skookum1 (talk) 06:37, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

There was a discussion once on whether the ethnicity should have precedence for the name, and it was decided it shouldn't. That could be revisited.
