I'll review this article shortly. Wizardman 20:46, 9 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Here's what I found:

  • "football, basketball, baseball[2] while earning a teaching degree" and baseball
  • The scores and records should be using ndashes (i.e. 0–1, not 0-1)
  • My only other main concern is the lack of 'meat' in the article. It doesn't feel like it goes into much detail. MY suggestion is to try newspapers.com and see if there's some articles that can be used to spruce it up a bit more (I checked and it seemed like there were some; for that matter if you don't have access I'd recommend getting it through wikipedia in your case, since it would be a big help with the types of articles you work on.)

I'll put the article on hold and will pass when the issues are addressed. Wizardman 16:02, 14 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the review! I took care of #1 and #2 and, while I thought my university had access to newspapers.com, apparently it does not, so this seems like a great opportunity to sign up. While I wait for that, is there anything in particular you think I should be looking for? I looked at other football coach GAs and, aside from the basics that are already here, it seems like they vary a lot in terms of meat. I'd hate to just add material considered "filler" by the appropriate Wikiprojects or involved editors, so if there's anything that should be included (or avoided) please let me know. As you say, the main points are there. There were a couple sources that popped up right away in regards to his high school coaching career. I know that it has the potential to get bogged down, but a bit of extra detail in the article should only help it (I also found a lengthy article on his brother who was a doctor for 55 years, but things like that would perhaps be going into too much detail for the article). Excellent. I'm approved for an account and have done everything on my end, so I'm just waiting for it to be activated and I'll get on it right away. Canadian Paul 17:08, 20 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Just wanted to leave a heads up that I have not forgotten about this, but the project coordinator has not yet activated my account (I believe that they are quite busy at the moment). If you can continue to hold past a week, then I can hold. If not, I can renominate once I get my access. Canadian Paul 17:44, 27 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I don't mind waiting a little while, I'll keep an eye out. Wizardman 14:51, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Wizardman: I did some searching and, while most results were routine coverage of football games, I did manage to find some material worth adding, primarily in the "early life" section. Let me know what you think! Canadian Paul 19:56, 1 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
Looks a lot better, even with just that little bit added in. As such I'll pass it as a GA. Wizardman 15:41, 5 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
