Mount Nebo (Jordan)

edit

I can find no other verification that Giovanni Fantoni was the artist that created the brazen serpent sculpture on Mt. Nebo. I was curious to know WHEN it was created and by whom. I see the name "Giovanni Fantoni" for an Italian poet in the early 19th century, but no reference anywhere to a sculptor by that name.

Does anyone know when this piece was created?

Toni Alexander

I'm not sure when the piece was designed, but the Mount Nebo admission tickets credit Fantoni for the creation of the piece. Also see[dead link] these sites, which credit Fantoni. - Cybjorg 08:16, 17 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
it:Monte Nebo mentions
artista fiorentino Gian Paolo Fantoni
who has no Wikipedia page. it:Giovanni Fantoni was a poet and has no disambiguation. It is Andrea Fantoni in https://www.dreamstime.com/editorial-stock-image-madaba-sculpture-symbolic-staff-moses-made-florentine-master-andrea-fantoni-mount-nebo-jordan-image84596929. it:Fantoni (famiglia) seems not matching the time. Lonely Planet Jordan says that the Franciscans bought the church in 1932 and reconstructed it, so the sculptor should be later. --Error (talk) 20:30, 24 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

– Which "Mount Nebo" is the main one is clear. Mount Nebo (Jordan) is the origin of the names for all the others and is still the main one refered to in any blank context. şṗøʀĸşṗøʀĸ: τᴀʟĸ 05:40, 2 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Okay-- but I am not sure how to unify the discussion. Can someone still do this? şṗøʀĸşṗøʀĸ: τᴀʟĸ 04:40, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thank you. şṗøʀĸşṗøʀĸ: τᴀʟĸ 19:15, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

*Suggestion --- all of the Mount Nebo articles are about mountains. Therefore, the current Mount Nebo article can become a set index article, be moved to List of peaks named Nebo, and formatted per the guidelines at WP:WikiProject Mountains. I'm happy to do the work, if other editors agree. —hike395 (talk) 21:01, 3 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Abu Badd rolling stone door

edit

Isn't there a large round stone door exhibited outside the memorial? It is sometimes referenced as the "Abu Badd rolling stone door of Byzantine Monastery on Mount Nebo in Holy Land". I'm unclear whether it is artwork or a historical remnant. Praemonitus (talk) 23:25, 15 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mount Nebo in the bible

edit

In how much certainty we can say that this is the same mountain as in the bible, according to my knowledge some researchers dissagree about it begin the mountain from the bible Red Gabriel (talk) 10:36, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
