Probably makes sense edit

I just created the article on Steinhardt Partners, honestly just so another article I made could get rid of a red link, and did find it a little hard to fill with relevant info. Although I did just read that Jim Cramer's wife got her start there. That's sort of random.

I say yes, merge them. For the greater good.--Beware of Cow 02:56, 31 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

This guy is a baller. Though it would be nice of him to help out even Orthodox Jewish causes, I appreciate his work. My first trip to Israel was on a birthright trip! Thanks!

Known for short selling? edit

I'm fairly sure I heard an anchor on CNBC refer to Steinhardt as a "legendary short seller". This article's only mention of strategy is an undocumented: "event driven multi-strategy fund". Side note: Why the term "demi-billionaire"? Seems to be taken straight out of the Forbes article. So, it's just a way of saying he's worth about half a billion? --Georgeryp 04:12, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Father edit

Why so much on his father? I read "No Bull" and that was just a small part of the book. -- CampBaker —Preceding unsigned comment added by CampBaker (talkcontribs) 11:46, 8 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why so little about his father? His father was a criminal, and those "envelopes stuffed with cash" that gave him "seed money to begin his investment career" were the proceeds of crime. Ignoring the law was a pattern that he followed during the rest of his life. And it's been reported in many WP:RS, which is the way we decide in Wikipedia how important something is.

Sol was a compulsive high-stakes gambler and colorful New York nightclub patron. He was also New York's leading jewel fence, a convicted felon and pal to underworld figures such as Meyer Lansky and "Three Finger" Jimmy Aiello. The night before crime figure Joey Anastasia was rubbed out in the Park Sheraton barbershop in 1957, he and Sol were out on the town gambling together.
The next year, Sol was convicted on charges of buying and selling stolen jewelry and was sentenced to five to ten years in prison on each of two felony counts.

Undue content edit

At present a large segment of the article is based on single news cycle reporting on leaks from an internal investigation to Jewish Week (re-reported elsewhere). Introducing while this was breaking news was questionable - but 2.5 months later there is no additional coverage - clearly showing this is UNDUE, beyond the BLP concerns. reverts should be done with a clear editing rationale addressing the challenge to this questionable content.Icewhiz (talk) 18:27, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Conviction for buying looted and illegally smuggled artifacts edit

Hi all

I'm not sure if I'm describing his crimes and conviction correctly so I will leave these references here for others to use

Thanks

John Cummings - You are quoting from the D.A. not the defense attorney and the D.A. is putting words in Steinhardt's mouth.

His attorney said Steinhardt was “pleased” the investigation was over, laying blame over what he called items’ “wrongfully taken by others.”

“Many of the dealers from whom Mr. Steinhardt bought these items made specific representations as to the dealers’ lawful title to the items, and to their alleged provenance,” the attorney, Andrew Levander, said in a statement to the Times. “To the extent these representations were false, Mr. Steinhardt has reserved his rights to seek recompense from the dealers involved.” RichardBond (talk) 14:25, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
