... that Australian water polo player Madeleine Steere was selected in the "2018 All-American team" in her second college year? Source: "In 2017 Steere joined the University of Michigan and in her two seasons with the side has gained recognition of her skills through selection in the 2018 All-American team." [1]
Overall: Nice work on this article! I only have a couple small issues that need addressing before I can pass this: the lead section is too short, it should really be expanded given the amount of information in the text of the article; and the first "a" in the "australia women's" section should be capitalised. @Grnrchst: Thank you for your review. The said issues are addressed. Please check. CeeGee 09:36, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for seeing to it! I still think the lead could be a bit longer, but am happy to pass this review the now. Nice work :) --Grnrchst (talk) 09:39, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for approving. You are free to expand the lede. CeeGee 06:59, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
It's not interesting to me, but I don't know anything about college sports either. Why is "2018 All-American team" in scare quotes? What in particular makes this interesting? They have an all-american team every year. What makes this person being selected to it special? Grammar nit: shouldn't it be "selected for" instead of "selected in"?
CeeGee I don't think this hook meets the interestingness criterion. Is it possible for you to find a better one? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:45, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I have also tagged it as needing copyediting; there are numerous odd errors ("She capped in 67 international matches", "She enjoyed her team's champions title", etc.). ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 19:47, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Copyedited accordingly. I can not locate "etc." Thanks for your check. CeeGee 06:40, 26 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
... you haven't. "she capped in" --> "she cappeared" is not an improvement. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:45, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
@AirshipJungleman29: Ooh! Sorry, I missed it. Thank you again for your attention. I corrected it now. Check please. CeeGee 08:16, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You have not. CeeGee, it might be good for you to nominate this article at WP:GOCE. In any case, you have not provided a new hook; unless you propose a new one which meets the criteria, this nomination will be rejected. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 17:02, 1 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'd support alt1 as a hook. I think this is more interesting than the initial proposal. @AirshipJungleman29: Thoughts? --Grnrchst (talk) 12:24, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
The sources do not support the hook (no mention of Steere "helping" her team, just her name in a roster—WP:SYNTH), which is in any case of the simple "person does job"-type. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 18:21, 23 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yet another hook for your consideration. I feel "gold medal as captain" sounds like a clear achievement, even if only with the U-16 team. –LordPeterII (talk) 10:15, 7 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Comment I assume this is on hold while the orange tag remains? Kingsif (talk) 02:37, 1 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Kingsif: Yes, as long as a nominated article has an orange tag that isn't resolved, it can't be approved or promoted. @CeeGee: Given that the nomination is already over three months old I would suggest this being given at most another week to resolve any issues, otherwise it should be closed. Thank all, who are involved in the discussion. Yet, I, for myself, am confused, and do not know what is expected from me. I would do immeadiately what is required. CeeGee 05:15, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
The problem is that the hook needs to be likely to be perceived as unusual or intriguing by readers with no special knowledge or interest. All of the hooks proposed thus far fall into the category of "of person does job", which is never that unusual or intriguing unless the job is itself really unusual or interesting. None of "sportsperson was selected in team", "sportsperson won a trophy", or "sportsperson was captain of a youth team" is unusual or interesting. I cannot find anything suitable in the article either, not helped by the fact that nearly every sentence needs copyediting. I might just sort that bit out myself. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 11:07, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@AirshipJungleman29: Very good question. As I can check the current squad, she is no more on. I changed the ALT4-hook accordingly. CeeGee 13:54, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@AirshipJungleman29: The reference, which you've removed, stated that she is a Pharmaceutical mediciner from profession. Unfortunately, the link was deleted. So, I change the ALT4-hook as "studied", which is referenced. CeeGee 16:44, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
