Chelsea player now? edit

I have recently found 2 articles suggesting he is now a Chelsea player. The two articles are here:

[1]

and

[2]

He is training full time with Chelsea, but the only problem is, he can't be registered for any competitions because of his age and being a non-EU player. So does this mean he is a Chelsea player and we can change the current club? Because he is definitely more a Chelsea player than he is a Sao Paulo player. Brock 009 (talk) 16:52, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

No, his registration under FIFA's jurisdiction is still held by Sao Paulo. He cannot legally become a Chelsea player until his 18th birthday, even though the deal's already been done. Those stories aren't really describing anything special -- Sao Paulo are perfectly allowed to let their players go out and train with other clubs, as is (presumably) the case here. Inter Zaprisic did the same with Delac, but he too couldn't officially join until his 18th. But the first point is the most important -- we go by who they're registered with, not who they're training with, and for the moment that's still Sao Paulo. Brazil Under 17 Caps edit

On the article it says 15 caps and 9 goals but here it says 14 caps and 4 goals. Anyone know precisely? Cazza3012 (talk) 13:40, 4 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Lucas PiazónLucas Piazon – Name is Piazon, not Piazón; indicated by himself on verified Twitter-account (see tweet on 19 November 2013); reference on the wiki page for his full name here also states Piazon, as do the official websites of Chelsea and Vitesse. • Support. Per nom. Also, a Google News search of each shows Piazon is more commonly used. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:20, 2 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Google News search needs to be restricted to Portuguese to produce reliable results for an orthography issue, but see below. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:03, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • weak support: I am usually in favour of preserving diacritics of proper names where they reflect encyclopaedic accuracy notwithstanding the preponderance of sources ignoring them. The name would probably be spelt with the accent in Spanish, but I am unsure for Portuguese. It seems that none of the sources uses diacritics for this person (I don't much care for what goes on specifically in Twitter) so I'm inclined to support the move as this seems to be the correct spelling of his name. -- Ohc ¡digame! 03:30, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak support - The official websites of Chelsea and Vitesse fail WP:RS for Brazilian-Portuguese spelling so are not relevant. However Spanish surnames ending in ón generally lose the accent in Portuguese, this seems to be the case for the few other native Piazons in Portuguese print sources. As for the footballer only 6 of 370 articles in Estadao retain it Emprestado, Lucas Piazón esperar voltar ao Chelsea. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:01, 3 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
  • I mean, people usually have the right to spell their own names however they like, right? I am glad to join you all and support Red Slash 02:32, 12 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
