Why is this on Wikipedia? edit

TED CRUZ edit

Where is "Texas Ted". Trump stopped calling him Lyin' Ted when Cruz endorsed him for the 2016 bid and switched it to Texas Ted. I'd update it but I don't know how. 184.146.116.118 (talk) 23:32, 18 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Adam Schitt edit

I know it’s vulgar, but it probably belongs in the list of Schiff nicknames too. See [1]. It’s highly unlikely to have been a mere typo. 2600:1014:B077:312A:30E6:D887:418:4731 (talk) 03:59, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

why aren't washed up Psycho Bette Middler and sissy Grayden Carter here? edit

I don't know how to edit when all these fancy tables and stuff are there but someone has to add it Cthuluwu (talk) 18:06, 8 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Cthuluwu, do you have a source to support the inclusion of these nicknames? WJ94 (talk) 13:14, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Primary sources, one of them almost a decade old. Pass. Zaathras (talk) 02:00, 10 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I agree - Cthuluwu, if you think these nicknames should be included, please provide a link to a reliable secondary source which describes these as nicknames. WJ94 (talk) 18:09, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@WJ94why isn't a primary source enough? Like, hes literally posting it, you want like a newspaper article saying he said it? I legit don't get it Cthuluwu (talk) 18:42, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
If we included every time Trump called someone a name, this article would be one of the biggest in Wikipedia. It has to be something he called someone consistently. Bkatcher (talk) 18:45, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia prefers secondary sources, since coverage in a secondary is evidence that the primary is even notable. If nobody wrote about these tweets, then it’s not important enough for Wikipedia to publish. Zanahary (talk) 18:59, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Trump's Nicknames for WA state Politicians edit

"The Stiff" and "Zero Percent" in reference to Governor Jay Inslee not knowing of the Chop Chaz Autonomous Zone in Seattle.

"Child of Love" for Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan who deemed Chop-Chaz to be a "Summer of Love" 97.126.112.105 (talk) 17:38, 31 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

We generally do not list one-off Trump insults, but rather limit this page to listing nicknames that have "caught on," for lack of a better term. "Sleepy Joe,", "Little Marco" etc... If you can show sustained usage for your examples, feel free. Zaathras (talk) 18:03, 31 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Reminder of 2021 RfC guidelines for nicknames edit

Just a friendly reminder to any editors that per the 2021 RFC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:List_of_nicknames_used_by_Donald_Trump/Archive_1#RfC_on_inclusion_criteria, any nicknames in the list must be:

Described as a nickname by at least one secondary, independent, reliable source.

Described as being used by Trump by at least one secondary, independent, reliable source.

Trump should have used the nickname on at least two separate occasions.

There should be lasting coverage of the nickname.

Usage of these guidelines led to some significant trimmings of the list, and may require more (in particular the “lasting coverage” guideline excludes many of Trump’s nicknames). Dingers5Days (talk) 18:51, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Then this page needs a whole revamp because plenty of these have not been used multiple times. TheXuitts (talk) 21:14, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Feel free to delete nicknames that have only been used once; I think most of the one-offs were scrubbed. Usually the best way of telling this (IF they began usage during or before Trump’s presidency) is to search the nickname on factba.se which has pretty much everything Trump has said publicly until January 2021. Dingers5Days (talk) 04:43, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
You're right but it's very difficult to remove them all. Chess (talk) (please mention me on reply) 23:23, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
We should really make this a formal FAQ-like entry at the top as it pops up frequently. Zaathras (talk) 05:24, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Why though? If he has used it then he's used it. Why does it need multiple uses to get on here? Its like saying Leicester City haven't won the Premier League because it only happened once. Furthermore, why is a truth/tweet from Donald Trump not a reliable source? its literally straight from him — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C7:C612:DD00:64D9:5E89:D089:9F58 (talk) 16:26, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Because Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, among other reasons. Donald Albury 17:00, 15 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Phoney Fani Willis should be included though surely, its quite a major one Helpful24 (talk) 09:19, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Trump has not used the nickname besides one Truth Social post in August 2023--if he has, no reliable source has noted it. [2] Dingers5Days (talk) 13:56, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok, that's a shame, sad times Helpful24 (talk) 16:16, 21 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Did he invent these nicknames? edit

There's a kind of consistent genius in many of these nicknames, and there are so many. It makes me think he didn't invent them spontaneously, but are the product of a professional group that first tests variations on a group to see which one gets the best reaction. The article doesn't discuss it, but surely someone has discussed it somewhere. -- GreenC 02:08, 29 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
