Why has someone edited the description of Leo's great-Uncle, Jose Antonio Carrillo, deleting the exploits of his heroic deeds in the defense of California in 1846??? It's great that he was a mayor 3 times, but it's equally, if not more important for him to be recognized for his historical achievment and the leadership he displayed in the Battle of Dominguez Rancho, and ultimately, California, in the course of history. An example would be President Eisenhower, although he was our commander and chief for 8 years, he is internationally known, historically, for his position as the Supreme Allied Commander & US 5 Star American General during WW2.

Initial rating CA WP etal

As a member of the CA WP, I saw this article come as a bot edit today. While looking at the page, I noticed it had the unreferenced tag. Inline citations are now provided. The article was rated C/Low for all the various wikiprojects. Leo Carrillo's marriage

While still in New York during his days in the theater, Carrillo met a young lady backstage after she and several friends had seen his performance. She was Edith Shakespeare from Nyack, N.Y. They were married in 1913 and remained together until her death in 1953.

The information was already available in the L. A. Times article which provided information on his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, so I inserted it in Leo's article, using the same "ref"; there's lots more interesting info in that article. -- DutchmanInDisguise (talk) 04:54, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Pronunc. of name in Spanish

I changed the pron. to /ka'rijo/. Maybe the /j/ can be changed to a more precise symbol. Will check this. In any case this is better than the non-IPA transcription that I encountered... I was quite flabbergasted as you can imagine... Wathiik (talk) 09:39, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

I used /ʎ/ instead of /j/. The phoneme /ʎ/ is no longer pronounced [ʎ] by most speakers of Spanish, but it is certainly correct phonemically. In some parts of Spain and Latin America [ʎ] is still used, however. Wathiik (talk) 09:42, 27 August 2020 (UTC)
