Page name edit

I'm glad this page finally got made but the thing with naming is that Lay/ Yixing goes by both names, depending on where you go and whom you ask. But to my knowledge, no one calls him Lay Zhang or Zhang Lay- his family name and stage name exist independently of each other. I've also heard that Yixing isn't his real given name but that's neither here nor there for now. Mbao5458 (talk) 21:41, 16 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Lay (entertainer)Lay ZhangWP:COMMONNAME... looks like he's much more widely known in English media as "Lay Zhang": [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Also seems to be what he goes by on his Twitter and Instagram. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 04:42, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Move to Zhang Yixing, which is far more common than Lay Zhang, with more than 1 million Google results. -Zanhe (talk) 09:19, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move to Lay Zhang. WP:COMMONNAME suggests to use the name most common name "as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources". Reliable sources use "Lay Zhang" far more often, while his birth name "Zhang Yixing" is mentioned as a side note. The above Google test is very short-sighted, as those results predominately refer to the subject as "Lay (Zhang)" first or are from undesirable sources like Amino Apps, Twitter, and so on. xplicit 12:43, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move to Lay Zhang per reasoning above. Lay Zhang is also far more likely to be continuously used since that's the name he made his American debut under. Alexanderlee (talk) 13:39, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support either Lay Zhang or Zhang Yixing In ictu oculi (talk) 18:35, 25 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Support move to Lay Zhang Reputable English sources are addressing him in this way, including the likes of Forbes and Billboard among others. Requiem II (talk) 12:12, 26 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

The above discussion is preserved as an archive of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on this talk page or in a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

Conflict of interest edit

At least one major contributor to this article appears to have a close personal or professional connection to the topic, and thus to have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editors are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly, but are always welcome to propose changes on the talk page (i.e., here). You can attract the attention of other editors by putting {{request edit}} (exactly so, with the curly parentheses) at the beginning of your request. Requests that are unduly long, or are not supported by independent reliable sources, are unlikely to be accepted.

Please also note that our Terms of Use state that "you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation." An editor who contributes as part of his or her paid employment is required to disclose that fact. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:39, 7 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Elaboration on his stage name edit

This quote from Lay himself explaining his own stage name has been repeatedly removed. See other artists such as Bruno Mars and Juice Wrld who have first-hand explanations of their own stage names. The goal of an encyclopedia is to impart information. Doesn't make sense to keep this context about Lay's name a secret.
