Last homer of the 90s, not Twentieth Century. edit

Again and again... the twentieth century ended on 12/31/2000, not 12/31/1999. Derek Jeter hit the last home run of the twentieth century a year later. 18.173.1.42 22:18, 8 December 2006 (UTC) It can also be argued that since decades begin with 1 and end with 0, a homerun hit in 1999 wasn't the last homerun of the 90's. 2000 was the last year of the 90's.Reply

cell phone ticket edit

The content discussing a ticket for using a cell phone while driving and his license being potentially suspended at the time of his DWI seems incredibly trivial. It wasn't, so I don't understand why it would be included in the article.

Domestic violence charges edit

Who's the guy who put that domestic violence charges against Leyritz were dropped? He could be on more probation for this, instead. Thus I marked that as citation needed. Elandy2009 (talk) 16:09, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Unfair portrayal edit

Fellow editors,

As a representative of Jim Leyritz, from Attache, I must note that Jim's portrayal is certainly cast in a negative light. I understand and respect the concept of neutral point of view, as per Wikipedia's code of conduct, but feel that this is not being truly implemented in Jim's current Wikipedia.

While it is clear I have a bias in this particular situation, I would like to work in collaboration with other editors to redraft a fair depiction of Jim Leyritz, both as a professional athlete and a person.

His public trials and legal issues have been unfairly retold, and more positive aspects of involvement, such as his work with charity or loving family life, have been overlooked entirely.

As am I'm sure we all can agree, we must work to uphold the intent of Wikipedia - to provide unbiased, factual information to all users.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at s.dickerson@abandonconvention.com.

Thank you for your time, Attache for Jim Leyritz 13:14, 29 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Attache JimLeyritz (talkcontribs)

In what specific ways are his legal issues not reported on fairly? And feel free to add any information about his family life and charitable work, with proper sourcing of course. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:30, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Everybody wants articles here to be accurate and fair. I see that your previous edits were reverted, which I believe was warranted. My recommendation would be to ensure that future edits are verifiable and due weight is applied to facts. Statements such as Leyritz being a "highly regarded motivational speaker for non-profit, youth and business organizations" need to be cited, and proportional to the amount of coverage those aspects of his life are discussed in reliable sources.—Bagumba (talk) 16:40, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok great, I really appreciate your input and suggestions. The world of editing and contributing to Wikipedia is fairly new to our company, so I am glad to get any helpful pointers I can. I will redraft some additions for the site, and once posted, hopefully it'll be agreeable that they maintain a neutral point of view. Thank you! No problem. I left a standard set of help links on your talk page. The usual motto here is be bold, but in the interest of maintaining good faith and avoiding potential conflict of interest concerns, proper source attribution and explanations in edit summaries or on this talk page would be constructive.—Bagumba (talk) 17:42, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Right. I do note that when you edited the article yesterday and I reverted it, you hadn't removed the detail about his legal issues, which many people would have whitewashed.– Muboshgu (talk) 17:54, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Photo edit

Also, while we're on the subject of improving this article, a picture would greatly help. Flickr doesn't have any images of him that we can use. If he'd be willing to grant us permission to use an image of him, be it a baseball image or one in his personal life, that would make the article more visually interesting to readers. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:54, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ok great, I'll be in contact with him and see which picture he prefers. I know he was hoping to get one posted, so this is great. Again, I really appreciate all the help! Attache for Jim Leyritz 18:38, 29 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Attache JimLeyritz (talkcontribs)
Attached is the link to our Flickr account - feel free to use any and all of these pictures of Jim! http://www.flickr.com/photos/81524112@N02/ Attache for Jim Leyritz 19:21, 29 June 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Attache JimLeyritz (talkcontribs)
Unfortunately, those pictures are listed as "All rights reserved", and Wikipedia would need a free image. If Mr Leyritz is willing, you can go into Flickr and change the permissions for selected photos to a free license.—Bagumba (talk) 20:33, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
And what's that thing where we get explicit permission? OTRS? Some four letter acronym similar to that I'm blanking on? – Muboshgu (talk) 20:53, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
I think that only applies if it is from a website that doesn't list explicit permissions, or I scanned it from a book or something I don't own. In the case of Flickr, it can just be changed in the user account.—Bagumba (talk) 20:58, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Or I think you might be referring to if Mr. Leyritz had bio on his website, and he wanted to give permission for it to be copied liberally without worrying about plagiarism.—Bagumba (talk) 21:06, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, I'm not 100% sure what I'm referring to :) All I know is I've seen images of notable individuals that they personally released to Wikipedia, and the system has used OTRS to document that permission. – Muboshgu (talk) 21:57, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Here is the master doc: Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.—Bagumba (talk) 22:07, 29 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, basically if Mr. Leyritz doesn't want that image to be released completely freely, he can instead use OTRS to confirm his identity and give specific permission for it to be used by Wikipedia under CC-BY-SA and GDFL. I think. I am not a lawyer. - Jorgath (talk) (contribs) 13:48, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Not exactly. The above link says "Note that there is no way to say 'you can use this in Wikipedia, but not anywhere else or in derivative works.'"—Bagumba (talk) 16:26, 30 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Right, I'm thinking of the whole uploaded-by-photographer thing. Never mind; images aren't my forte on Wikipedia anyway. - Jorgath (talk) (contribs) 22:53, 1 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Actually, don't the rights to the Yankee photos belong to MLB? Can Leyritz give permission for us to use it? – Muboshgu (talk) 00:15, 2 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
