Jason Mraz stole this song? edit

according to rumours on the internet, JM "stole" the ukulele bit from the song Vi vet hur det känns by Toppen,Estet & Huber (video of said song: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JipyYhwNPoQ&feature=related). They sound the same, but I can't find proof either way. Does anyone know if this is the song by Sindre Dybvikstrand mentioned in the main page? It sounds Norwegian, I guess... any clarification would be helpful... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.253.91 (talk) 06:51, 11 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

What a load of rubbish - the song you linked to there is the backing track of Mraz's song with some foreign lyrics over the top. He didn't "steal" it at all - that video IS Mraz. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.149.4.206 (talk) 14:04, 30 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

RTFA: The song was covered in 2007, prior to when Mraz had released it as a single, by Sindre Dybvikstrand as his debut single. Sindre was a contestant on Idol (Norway) who performed the song in the Top 24, failing to advance to the finals.

How could Sindre cover the song when it's not yet released by the original singer (Mraz)?

video edit

Why does the "Video" section sound like an elementary student's narrative? Isn't there a better way to describe than this? It doesn't need to be a blow-by-blow... --Buddy13 (talk) 22:10, 7 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Lyrics... edit

Does anyone know why there are two 'versions' of this song? e.g. why the acoustic lyrics differ from the original? I'm curious and it could be a good addition to the page... Eseldubelu (talk) 09:58, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

September 12th.. edit

Hello..

The quote "As of September 12, 2009, it has spent 72 weeks on the Hot 100,... " States September '12'... I know it may not be a big deal as it is not far away.. but can someone correct that (to say September 2 or 3..) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Infinityvortex (talkcontribs) 02:07, 3 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Now it says 10th of October, but it's only the 8th. So how can that be true? It can't. (Sbutler (talk) 16:49, 8 October 2009 (UTC))

I've changed it to read "As of October 10, 2009, it will have spent 76 weeks on the Hot 100..." (Sbutler (talk) 16:52, 8 October 2009 (UTC))

Young Asian Child plays Instrumental of "I'm Yours" on the Ukelele, and is good. edit

This kid plays the instrumental on the Ukelele and he's like, 5.

Could use a few singing lessons, though...

Sampling of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" edit

If I'm not mistaken, this song is sampling "Somewhere Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - it should be mentioned in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Guy... (talkcontribs) 20:31, 7 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

– In the last year, the other six topics (including the dab page) have contributed just 10% of the total pageviews.[2] Unreal7 (talk) 21:39, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment: That accounting seems to neglect 4 other topics with this title that are listed on the dab page, as well as I Am Yours (disambiguation). The Mraz song is also relatively recent when considering several of the other topics (e.g. the 1952 Robert Mellin song and the 1961 Elvis Presley song). In another 50 years, will this song remain more popular than those other two songs that are now more than 50 years old? And in the meantime, how many more notable songs with this title will be produced? —BarrelProof (talk) 23:02, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per BarrelProof. Chase (talk | contributions) 00:01, 15 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose, Oppose, Oppose As per comments above and probably half a dozen reasons not thought of so far, including "long-term significance" per PT. --Richhoncho (talk) 10:31, 16 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per long-term significance, which is irrelevant with the release date of a product. SSTflyer 04:54, 17 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
    • How is the "long-term significance" criterion of PTOPIC met here? Chase (talk | contributions) 22:20, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
      • This song was certified 7x Platinum in its home country and previously held the record for the most weeks spent on the Billboard Hot 100. None of the other songs have comparable achievements. SSTflyer 13:31, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose - per Barrelproof. This song should definitely not be the primary topic for this phrase. It doesn't stand out enough to be considered primary and there are way too many other things that readers will likely be looking for when they search this term. Some other topics have much longer-term significance than this song. Eventhorizon51 (talk) 17:30, 20 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. Another example for User:Andrewa/The Problem With Page Views. Andrewa (talk) 08:04, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
