Overall:   All three alts verified; my preference is for alt1. Gatoclass (talk) 15:14, 21 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

  •   Pulled over BLP privacy concerns. There is no ironclad secondary RS about the real name, and mentioning it seems to be against the subject's wishes. We definitely should not run ALT1, and I don't think we should have the subject's real name in the article at all. —Kusma (talk) 09:19, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for picking that up, Kusma. In reviewing the nomination, it never even occurred to me that the nominator might not have an ironclad link for so basic a fact as the identity of the artist, so did not check that particular hook fact. It seems from this point I cannot even rely on nominators to know the identity of their own subject, and I am really pissed about that because it just made all my future reviewing that much harder. Gatoclass (talk) 09:57, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Gatoclass, I would have likely missed this too, but fortunately Bernzrdo asked the right question on the talk page (after you had approved the nom). Also, I think the identification of the subject's name is likely correct, but it is all WP:SYNTH and not usable on a BLP, certainly not against the subject's wishes, and doubly certainly not on the Main Page. —Kusma (talk) 10:03, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you Kusma, and yes, I very much agree, it's lucky that this was caught before it went to the MP. Gatoclass (talk) 10:22, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've expanded this slightly, although I'm slightly worried about the number of quotes in her early life - although arguably in this case, they really should be attributed.--Launchballer 11:56, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Gatoclass: Have the above concerns been addressed? Z1720 (talk) 18:28, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Another ping to Gatoclass: should this be closed, or has the BLP issue been dealt with in a satisfactory manner, in which case perhaps a new icon is appropriate so the nomination can proceed? Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 16:41, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Did <elided> reveal she is horsegiirL?

edit

I have some questions about assuming that horsegiirL is <elided>. Where did this come from? Was it confirmed by <elided>? Does horsegiirL want this information to be avaiable? As I've noticed that horsegiirL makes interviewers sign a "NDNeigh" as seen on this interview, I'm not sure if horsegiirL wants this to be known or even if it's the truth. Bernzrdo (talk) 16:20, 22 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

An IP purporting to be her management doesn't appear to want it on here either! As far as I'm concerned, she's outed herself, as she's claimed to have written Pegasus about a chap called Cornelius, which means, according to ASCAP, that she is either <elided>, Louis Koehler, or Paul Vogler, and Koehler and Vogler are different people.--Launchballer 11:25, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Many artists make the mistake of outting themselves, thinking it's private information. Giving this, shouldn't this article respect horsegiirL's wishes? Bernzrdo (talk) 16:38, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
ASCAP is subject-generated content, and Horse & Hound quotes from a press release. If it was something like a slip of the tongue on a radio interview, maybe, but this is from the subject on multiple counts. Both of the articles mentioning her NDNeigh come from late last year, by which time her real name had well and truly bolted. If you want a policy based argument, WP:BLPPUBLIC requires that such a claim requires "multiple reliable third-party sources"; the same quote also appears in Clash and WithGuitars.--Launchballer 20:57, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

I can see no reason to mention <elided> in an article about "horsegiirL". The article does not even cite speculation that they are the same person. It is WP:SYNTH to connect the two artists in this way, and not acceptable in a BLP. —Kusma (talk) 09:28, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Bernzrdo (talk) 14:54, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I assume you are referring to <elided>. They are obviously the same person, you can clearly tell by their matching tattoos and the fact that <elided> is credited as writing My Barn My Rules. There is no debate, horsegiirl is undoubtedly <elided>. 76.218.205.175 (talk) 20:42, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
And Pegasus, for which she's literally published a press release claiming to have done so, but the consensus at the DYK nomination and at Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard/Archive356#HorsegiirL is that her name should not be in the article. I've got to say, I can't wait for it to appear in more RSes so we can include it - we're an encyclopedia, we should not be entertaining spin - and if I'd have been the article creator I'd have redirected this by now.--Launchballer 20:59, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the information, I definitely agree with you. Is the only barrier to including her real name in this article the lack of a RS confirming her identity? Maybe someone should just reach out to a music/EDM news source and give them all the evidence, I'm sure someone would like to write an article about it. I also think that just because her manager said they don't want her name on Wikipedia doesn't mean anything, she is a famous artist and should have done a better job keeping her real name private if she really wanted to remain anonymous. I guess for now until a RS comes along we can refrain from putting her real name in, even though we all know it to be true... 76.218.205.175 (talk) 22:35, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Technically, there should be multiple reliable sources per WP:BLPPUBLIC.--Launchballer 22:55, 23 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't understand why some people want her Wikipedia article not to include her real name. I, for one, am always wary of people who want to remain fully anonymous while being public figures. How can I verify that you're not a pedophile or criminal? The public has the right to know!" Hieraticguy (talk) 17:26, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Your argument makes no sense. People have a right to privacy. Respect horsegiirL's privacy. Bernzrdo (talk) 13:05, 17 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
