February 2015
editThe last line under "Company Reputation" is cited using a lawsuit from 2002. The line says, "The company received multiple bad reviews for deceptive marketing and for failing to pay claims." However, the lawsuit cited solely indicates Globe Life was fined $5,000 by the State of Oregon for not paying interest on some Oregon death claims. The cited lawsuit does not validate the claim of "deceptive marketing" or "failing to pay claims". If this line is to remain in the article, it should be properly cited with a source that validates its claims. Corey a jones (talk) 16:54, 12 February 2015 (UTC)
Per the discussion above, I have removed the line "The company received multiple bad reviews for deceptive marketing and for failing to pay claims." due to lack of relevant citation. Corey a jones (talk) 15:09, 19 June 2015 (UTC)
- I reworded the lawsuit to include factual information from the PDF source and also updated the number of BBB closed complaints.DrkBlueXG (talk) 23:01, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

The tag above indicates that the change requests from January 10, 2019 were declined. I don't know if you can help me or not, but since you were the last to comment on this request, I am responding to see if it would be possible to get specific feedback on why the changes were declined. The goal of these edits is to provide more current stats, information, and citations for topics already covered on the page, but I am happy to make further adjustments if needed. I also want to keep this feedback in mind as I make other edits on the Wikipedia site.
Thank you,

edit- The source states that this individual is President and Chief Executive Officer of Globe Life Direct Response at Torchmark Corporation, which is differently worded than the title of the article, Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company.
- The source additionally states that he was President of Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company at Torchmark Corporation since November 2013 until December 2016 and was its Chief Executive Officer of Globe Life since January 2017." The use of the word "was" and "until" indicate states of employment other than that proposed by the COI editor. Please clarify with sources.

So far, I haven't been able to identify another third-party resource that would clarify the naming conventions for the exact legal entities, so I am withdrawing this edit request at this time. 1. Edit the Following InfoBox Entry | type = Subsidiary of Globe Life
2. Update First Paragraph to: Globe Life, based in McKinney, Texas, provides life and health insurance coverage nationwide. Globe Life, is the largest issuer of ordinary individual life insurance policies in the U.S. since 2003 [1] and has earned the A+ (Superior) Financial Strength Rating (as of June 2015). Rating Update
editPart of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. [see below] |
I have a COI since I work for Globe Life, so I am submitting the following edit request through the Talk page instead. We are required to make this update in a timely fashion.
In the top section
Please update this sentence: "Globe Life, based in McKinney, Texas, provides life and health insurance coverage nationwide, and has earned the A+ (Superior) Financial Strength Rating (as of June 2015)" to read:
Globe Life, based in McKinney, Texas, provides life and health insurance coverage nationwide, and has earned the A (Excellent) Financial Strength Rating (as of July 2020). [1]
In the History section
Please update these sentences: "Globe Life has earned the A+ (Superior) Financial Strength Rating (as of June 2015) from A.M. Best Company. Globe has had an A+ (Superior) rating or higher since 1991." to read:
Globe Life and Accident Insurance Company has earned the A (Excellent) Financial Rating from A.M. Best Company. [2]
Laurettashokler (talk) 20:25, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
- Partly done @Laurettashokler: I have updated the information in the lead for its 2020 result, but see no reason to obscure in the history section that the company was downgraded as your request might suggest. May I propose instead the sentence: Between 1991 and 2019, Globe had an A+ (Superior) rating until it was downgraded to A (Excellent) in 2020.[3]
This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I agree with the suggested change on the History section update. Please let me know if anything else is needed from me to implement.
Laurettashokler (talk) 13:10, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Laurettashokler: I apologize, upon closer scrutiny, the original statement that the company held a A+ certification since 1991 was unsourced. Googling the company brought up this Fitch ratings which uses a slightly different certification scheme, but nevertheless seemed to have downgraded the company twice in 2008 and 2009. May I know if you have a source to backup the "since 1991" assertion? If not, I propose:
- The credit rating agency A.M. Best Company awarded Globe an A+ (Superior) rating in 2015 and an A (Excellent) in 2020, with the downgrade being attributed to lower levels of risk-adjusted capitalization and the ongoing COVID pandemic, despite its strong performance in the intervening years.
- I hope this will be better. Seloloving (talk) 18:02, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Seloloving: I apologize for the delay. I have been trying to track down the citations required, but unfortunately, AM Best does not make their ratings history public. This makes putting together 29 years of citations challenging. So, we have discussed the best options internally and would like to request that both these sentences just be removed from the History section if that is an option:
- Globe Life has earned the A+ (Superior) Financial Strength Rating (as of June 2015) from A.M. Best Company. Globe has had an A+ (Superior) rating or higher since 1991.
- With that edit, does the article contain any other content that requires a citation? I am happy to help however I can to address the COI flag on the page.
- Thank you. Laurettashokler (talk) 21:30, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- Done @Laurettashokler: I have removed both sentences as requested. Feel free to reinstate them if you can find the relevant sources for the 1991 claim. Cheers. Seloloving (talk) 16:28, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Maintenance tag
editHello @Drm310:
I note that you were the original placer of the maintenance tag on this page in 2012. Having responded to two requested edits and looking at its past history, I do believe the company is following Wikipedia's policy to propose requested edits to the page when there is a conflict of interest. The original user MarkWriter is no longer active, and most of their edits have been purged of its promotional value at the time of the inclusion of the maintenance tag. I would think that it's alright to remove it now, but wish to seek your opinion. Seloloving (talk) 16:40, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Seloloving: Seems like the issues I was concerned about (a long 8 years ago) have been dealt with. I have no objection to the maintenance tag being removed now. If he should ever return, I have left a note for MarkWriter about paid editing disclosure. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 06:00, 19 September 2020 (UTC)
