Jane Haining edit

Hello - your edit [1] has been reverted As it introduced a spelling mistake. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C5:9313:B900:9CEE:858C:22CA:2558 (talk) 22:41, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

That's not a spelling mistake. See WP:ENGVAR. It it simply a variation between American English vs. British. S0091 (talk) 22:45, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
Per cent is the standard spelling, with percent being a corrupt niche variant. You will also note the article is about a British person, and in Britain standard spelling is used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C5:9313:B900:9CEE:858C:22CA:2558 (talk) 22:51, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Now that I look at it, it is fine with me. Sorry to waste your time. DarthFlappy (talk) 22:55, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. British person means British spelling so per cent is correct in this instance. If they were an American, then percent is the correct spelling. S0091 (talk) 23:00, 24 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pending changes reviewer granted edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

You reverted a change I made. I think it's perfectly clear what is meant by 'incidental content.' Help! edit

Hi, I was trying to fork Wikipedia:Dashboard/Pending changes for my userpage so that it displays the current number of pages, like this:

Pending edits awaiting review (5 pages)

With {{Pending Changes backlog}} and Special:PendingChanges of course.

but I can't seem to fugure out what how to use User:DatBot/pendingbacklog (what {{Pending Changes backlog}} uses) to get the current backlog number. Any suggestions? Thanks!  Darth Flappy «Talk» 22:12, 22 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

That template uses a switch based off of the first parameter to determine which value to return. The value you want is called 'info'. To use it bare naked, you'd say something like:
Pending changes awaiting review: {{User:DatBot/pendingbacklog|info}}
Which would render looking like:
Pending changes awaiting review: 2 pages according to DatBot
I think that's the only tricky part, you seem to have the rest down. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:36, 23 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Terren Peizer edit

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Why did you remove the link to the Ontrak website? Since we want to have any many references as possible for this page, linking to the page that shows that he's the director should be useful.

Also, you are aware that the "COI" in the edit request stands for "Conflict of Interest"?
Mr. Peizer obviously hired some PR hack to whitewash his page, so we should be very careful in following her wishes.
He's using dozens of shell companies to hide his actions, and Crede is one of them (which as actually currently involved in a lawsuit re. stock price manipulation), so we should keep those names in public view (I've added a section with all his shell companies now).

Frescard (talk) 22:45, 24 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Frescard: are you referring to this one were I removed the external link,[1] or this one were I removed "and Crede Capital Group"? I'm ok with reverting the "and Crede Capital Group" edit if you want, but I don't think that we should keep the EL (anyway, when I open it it's dead). I stopped editing when how much it looked like a bad faith COI request sunk in. this sentence was toned down to (hopefully) comply witih WP:AGF.  Darth Flappy «Talk» 02:15, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
For whatever it's worth, I'm sincerely trying to make requests aligned with Wikipedia best practices, and specifically with WP:BLP. I believe a lot of the article, cited as it is to legal documents, press releases, and other primary sources, violates WP:NOR. (The various inline external links also contravene the MoS, as noted.) I've provided some thoughts on the most obvious issues, but I'm open to feedback as well. Frescard, I'm aware you've also responded on Talk:Terren Peizer, but I didn't want to miss responding here either. Mary Gaulke (talk) 03:21, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I agree, the article has a bunch of primary external links acting like sources. I'm not sure why Frescard readded the EL I removed or what's going on with the Financial Vehicles section. @Frescard:? I think that I'll work on the article some (no promises, live's busy!).
Now that I think about it, I should have worded my comment better, sorry about that. (I was angry with the "stock promoter" thing) I feel kind of bad for you because, of all the editors out there, the two editors who look at your COI request both have userpages complaining about POV pushing.
One more thing: I think we should close this thread, copy it the Talk:Terren Peizer page, and continue the conversation there, any objections?.  Darth Flappy «Talk» 13:53, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Agree! Thanks for the response. Mary Gaulke (talk) 17:13, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Since the thread is still here, I'm gonna reply quickly:
It looks like there was a syntax error in the Ontrak link (to the board of directors). I've fixed that now, and it should work.
Re. Financial vehicles: Since anybody who's interested in Peizer will be interested mainly in his investments, we should list the names that he invests under (they're basically aliases). Unfortunately, he has a lot, but I think we need them all to give a complete picture.
Re. May Gaulke's bad faith edits: I don't see her *contributing* to the article. All I see are deletion requests, hiding behind technicalities like in-line links and primary sources. If one reads those respective guidelines neutrally — *without* looking for a loophole to remove unwanted content, then it's obvious that both are acceptable in the cases I used them.
Frescard (talk) 17:45, 25 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Custom signature edit

You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error, specifically formatting tags that are out of order.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Move two tags in your signature, as I did in this edit.

More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures or respond here. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 00:15, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Jonesey95: is this good? Also, what about all the signatures on other pages.  Darth Flappy «Talk» 12:11, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
That looks great. Thanks for fixing it. As for the signatures on other pages, they are on a very long list of (literally millions of) pages to be fixed. You can hunt them down and fix them if you want, but it is probably easier to let a gnome or bot take care of it. – Jonesey95 (talk) 13:53, 28 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi... edit

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to review Request Edits at Talk:DeVry University#Request Edit May 27. As I mentioned at the time, I had a second round of requests to make on behalf of DeVry but did not want to overwhelm the reviewer. But I see now that the Request Edit queue has 80 items and seems to be moving very slowly. Since you already familiarized yourself with the article, I wonder if you might give an independent review to the second batch of requests located at: Talk:DeVry University#Request Edits July 23. Thank you either way for your work as a volunteer. NaturaRagazza (talk) 19:09, 13 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'll try to get to it. I have some things to do both on Wikipedia and IRL first so I am not sure how long it will take.  Darth Flappy «Talk» 11:47, 14 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for August 18 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited DeVry University, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Memphis. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:40, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

User talk:ProseKobe edit

I think that instead of just putting a COI notice 7 months later on a user that's only been here in December-January span for a single subject, it would be better to look at the user's edits and make changes to them if needed. 2606:6000:60CC:C900:581C:E21B:9836:D906 (talk) 20:28, 23 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Change of Cardano ADA to Ada edit

Hi DarthFlappy,

I noticed you changed a key component of the name in the Cardano (cryptocurrency platform) page. This is improper nomenclature use. Just like Ethereum is called ETH and Bitcoin is called BTC, Cardano is called ADA (as is seen by the ticker symbol on the right hand side). Sadly, since the admin changed the edits I am unable to revert or change the edit back! Would it be possible to revert this change?

    • EDIT I actually double checked the website and it seems it doesn't really matter what the capitalization is... So perhaps you are right ;) Thank you for making the edits :)

Thank you :) Blockchainus Maximus (talk) 20:08, 15 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Sources needed for Days of the Year pages edit

I see you recently accepted a pending change to January 12 that did not include a direct source.

You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the edit notice on that page, the content guideline and/or the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide.

All new additions to the DOY pages without references are now being either reverted on-sight or in some cases where the patroller is especially motivated, immediately sourced. I've gone ahead and backed this edit out.

All the pages in the Days of the Year project have had pending changes protection turned on to prevent vandalism and further addition of entries without direct sources. As a pending changes patroller, it's not required but it sure would be helpful if you didn't accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages.

Thank you and please keep up your good work! Toddst1 (talk) 23:45, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am really struggling with all this. I just want the correct information about me to be updated and edited.

All the information about me is on my website to see and that is the only proof I have short of sending a copy of my deedpoll - www.sophiamackieellis.com and on https://www.spotlight.com/interactive/cv/2457-1209-5589 and on https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2405497/

I can't even understand how to use this site, I don't understand the use of coding or tildes. I just need someone to help me update this old incorrect information. I have a film to promote in 8 days and this information is detrimental to my career. Whoopsieboots (talk) 17:47, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
