Edit warring edit

The last couple of days have seen an edit war on this article centring on MacAnthony's business interests. On the one hand, there is some material which should not be included – the policy on biographies of living persons states that unsourced or poorly sourced negative material must be removed. On the other hand some of the material which has been removed does not fit this description. The bit about the Sunday Times Rich List is adequately sourced. The investmentpropertyrumours blog is not a reliable source, and is thus not appropriate. The London Gazette is fine, but needs more context. All it says is that a company has been voluntarily wound up. Oldelpaso (talk) 17:17, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Reference to the collapse of MacAnthony companies around the world has been well hidden and reference to those collapses are very relevant as MacAnthony tries to keep the bad news from the public. When a Spanish Lawyer levels public criticisms on someone like MacAnthony you know there are good grounds.... Watch this space. —Preceding unsigned comment added by HuttonIT (talkcontribs)

Edit Removals edit

I am aware that Darragh MacAnthony does not wish his failed property empire to be made public knowledge but it is and activities around those failures will be addressed. Please refrain from damaging the content on this article. If they are not factually accurate please discuss do not just damage the entry. —Preceding unsigned comment added by HuttonIT (talkcontribs) 22:36, 24 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hard Facts - Get Discussing edit

Lets get started on this page properly now that someone with a proper authority level in Wiki is watching the output properly. Thanks to Oldelpaso (talk)

Does any genuine Wiki editor have a full list of companies started by Darragh MacAnthony or his other Directors?
To publish this list there needs to be valid evidence of all his property companies.

  • Who
  • When
  • Where
  • Are they still going concerns
  • If not when did they go into receivership or liquidation and who did they owe money to.

Has there been any court cases against Darragh MacAnthony or any of his companies? This is irrefutable if evidenced correctly and very valid if his reputation as a Football Club Chairman is challenged.

Please ensure that any references are credible and capable of proof or from reliable sources. Original court documents, Companies House PDFs or direct links.

This discussion and the final public page has to demonstrate valid verifiable evidence and not just blog references or deletions of what is put there will follow.

Rachmha please contribute or keep out of it.

Finally are there any royalty free photographs of either MacAnthony or his Company premises or even his football club, which could be included in this article as there appears to be a distinct lacking of images available.

Bear in mind that that the article should be a biography, not a dossier or loose collection of facts. While it should strive to be comprehensive, its comprehensiveness is necessarily limited by the source material – only material based on reliable, published secondary sources may be included, and care must be taken to avoid giving disproportionate coverage (undue weight) to any aspect whether positive or negative. A couple of examples of well-developed articles about contemporary businesspeople are Tory Burch and Tom Peterson. Oldelpaso (talk) 18:46, 6 December 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Oldelpaso before anything is published they need to be clarified and verified here first. It would be nice if there were more interest but people are frightened to talk about MacAnthony or his past, which has gaping gaps: Timeshare Sales Man, Multi-Million losses to clients and he keeps this news out of the press by using Carter-Ruck to good effect. The hero chairman of a mediocre football team has a lot to hide and for good reason. His companies have even been investigated by the SFO (and I know this from first hand knowledge). A balanced view of this person's Biography is indeed needed here or Wiki becomes yet another Media source for his Media machine containing only one side of his history. HuttonIT (talk)
I am not placed to comment on the nature of MacAnthony's activities, but one thing I have done is to run a few searches on the LexisNexis newspaper database. Very few articles mentioning him were published before he bought Peterborough. No British or Irish national newspaper article mentioned him until 2005, and from then until the Peterborough takeover these were mainly brief quotes in property supplements or advertorials. From then on there is a torrent of football-related articles. Oldelpaso (talk) 19:52, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Self Publicity Does Wiki Allow this? edit

It is evident that his page is now being used for self publicity and nothing more. If anyone has any news about Darragh MacAnthony then join the discussion. Editing the main page for self publicity without verification and only reference to self promotion material, I am sure, is not within the Wiki remit. We need a moderator to do something about this or lock the page to prevent the MacAnthony fans or even himself promoting him.HuttonIT (talk) 16:35, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I feel that the reference to Entrepreneur should be removed as it may embrace Wiki when the truth behind how MacAnthony got his millions from when the matter goes before the Spanish courts. His employ now is simply that of Football Chairman. In November 2010 he resigned as the Administrator of his own holding company, Overseas Property Group SA, Société Anonyme, registered in Luxembourg but is still suspected to be the sole shareholder of what remains of his empire. Despite telling the world he had nothing to do with his companies since 2008 leaving the companies to others. HuttonIT (talk) 22:02, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

MacAnthony Companies edit

There is a need to clean up the Business Interests area. There is reference to MacAnthony's MRI property and MRI TV but not the fact that most are now insolvent and left millions owing and hundreds of customers with no properties they thought they were buying.
MRI TV Insolvency is documented in the London Gazette

There are other sources like companies house to show MRI Overseas Properties in the UK was liquidated but I feel someone should consider these entries because Wiki still shows MacAnthony as a successful business man yet he has left a trail of debt and devastation behind him which is not reflected accurately in Wiki and as I am viewed as a disgruntled customer, although not, someone independent should do the research and alter the section. HuttonIT (talk) 11:34, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

As no one has bothered I have added references to three of the MacAnthony companies which have been liquidated or are in the process of being liquidated. References are to the London Gazette and the Irish insolvency Journal.HuttonIT (talk) 21:50, 14 October 2011 (UTC)HuttonIT (talk) 21:59, 14 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Self Promotional Vandalising of Wiki Article edit

It appears that during the past week the article has been vandalised by Celebrate19. Can one of the moderators consider restoring the content and locking the article. It is worth noting that MacAnthony has just published a book about how wonderful he is and may be related to the timing of this vandalism. Oldelpaso has removed some of the content but not restored the factual content removed my Celebrat19. Is this type of self promotional vandalism permitted where someone is desperate to re-write history to remove facts they would prefer others did not know.HuttonIT (talk) 22:18, 14 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

The user Celebrate19 needs to be banned including their IP address. The vandalism should also all be reverted. I can see that Oldelpaso has reverted some of the vandalism from the Talk page but not the main article. It may also be that Wiki administrators should seriously consider banning any reference to Darragh MacAnthony: it simply provides another publicity vehicle and may act as a magnet for his followers, lawyers, publishers and media people to self promote and 're-write his history'. It also gives some credibility to his claim to fame missing out the reason he is in Court in Spain. Deletion of the page may solve all Wiki's problem over this man and the persistent vandals. In future could end up being mentioned in the notorious criminals section but just now total exclusion would provide a more positive and swift solution simply replacing the page with a locked page explaining why he has been excluded from Wiki. MRISG (talk) 15:31, 16 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
MRISG I think you may have made a good point about deleting the page and locking it down. Mr MacAnthony and/or his keyboard warriors appears to be trying to re-write history to eliminate all his past and would appear to be trying to appear as clean as the driven snow. Yet his full behaviour and history is not allowed to be documented on Wiki just as self promotion or Peacockish writing is not advisable or even allowed. The deletion of the page may prevent Wiki being used as just another media tool for his ego and suporters. Oldelpaso may be the best to decide as he is one of the administrators. I found this page which may put more light on what has been happening here: [1]. It is very apparent Mr MacAnthony's and/or Keyboard Warriors have been hard at work burying the bad news.HuttonIT (talk) 09:43, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Any user can initiate a deletion discussion by following the instructions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. However, I do not think it likely that doing so would result in deletion. If MacAnthony's only claim to notability was his real estate business, then maybe, but his football activities have almost certainly resulted in enough coverage to meet the criteria set out by Wikipedia:Notability (people). As to whether any action should be taken regarding User:Celebrate19, the point is moot at present, as the account has not edited since the initial burst of activity on the day it was created. Per the protection policy, articles are not pre-emptively protected from editing, though this article clearly needs more regular editors to cast their eyes over it.
The net result of all edits since 10 July can be seen here. Generally speaking, matters which are sub judice should not be mentioned, unless the case itself is the subject of widespread media attention (like Julian Assange, for example).
Whether the article says MacAnthony attended college for two months (sourced to The Times) or three (sourced to an op-ed by MacAnthony) makes little difference as far as I am concerned. The other changes merit discussion. How much should a biographical article go in to the details of companies owned or formerly owned by the subject? Some mention is clearly appropriate, but an article should not become a coatrack for tangential material. One thing that would be useful to know, and is not presently clear from the article, is whether MacAnthony is currently active in the real estate business. If yes, what is his currently active company called, if not, when did he leave that sector? Lastly, on a semantic note, does publishing an autobiography make someone an author? Does it depend on whether or not it is ghostwritten? Oldelpaso (talk) 15:03, 22 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

References Vandalised Too edit

I have just had a more thorough look at the article and the references have been vandalised to include self promotional garbage to and to include spurious and moving MSN searches.
Wiki administrators need to take a very close look at this article and seriously consider their options as I and certainly MRISG should take a back seat as we both should not be seen as a part of or drawn into any more controversy with this page.HuttonIT (talk) 10:04, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Self Promotional Content edit

This page appears to be being vandalised again. This time by [[2]] I have suggested in the past that this entry should be either locked or deleted to prevent such vandalism and the use of Wiki to self promote and re-write history. Any suggestions? HuttonIT (talk) 10:55, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

HAve added a welcome note. Also added about weblinks, just a mention. Most probably a COI from the IP. Will throw a spam warning, might work if not I agree on an RPP. Murry1975 (talk) 11:14, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
Murry1975 thanks I suspect the culprit is someone from MacAnthony Media, going by the IP address Peterborough is nearby and possibly believe it to be the Media Man from the POSH club. As you can see this is not the first instance of self-promotion and Wiki vandalism.

It also appears they are trying to promote the Helping Hands Group of which Darragh MacAnthony appears to be the Chair. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/The_Helping_Hands_Group where the same comment about his book is shown HuttonIT (talk) 12:48, 3 October 2012 (UTC)Reply
