Fiction edit

According to A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle, it was a chance encounter at the bar here between Dr. John Watson and a friend, Stamford, which led to Stamford introducing Watson to Sherlock Holmes with a view to them taking rooms together at 221B Baker Street. It's probably too much detail for this stub right now, but ought to be included if the article is further fleshed out in the future. — TransporterMan (TALK) 21:41, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Y Indeed; this has been done. Andrew (talk) 20:19, 11 January 2014 (UTC)Reply

What was in the basement? edit

I have seen reports that after the first war, a bar was set up in the basement. It had no name, but was informally known as the ‘Cri’, with entrance from the back street. Reports of its exact nature vary. Any record of this? 2A00:23C7:E284:CF00:39E6:D10E:135D:AB9E (talk) 12:30, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Criterion Banquets edit

Judging from the countless photographs of Piccadilly Circus, the Criterion Restaurant was for a period of time called Criterion Banquets. Here is just one photo from flickr.com: https://www.flickr.com/photos/trainsandstuff/27739284847/ Maybe it stands for Criterion Banquets Hall. Photos reveal that the sign was here at least between 1959 and 1963. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wjvanb (talkcontribs) 18:11, 4 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
