Did You Know
A fact from this article appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the "Did you know?" column on May 8, 2006.
The text of the entry was: Did you know ...that Miss Cranston pioneered the social phenomenon of tea rooms, introducing "fairyland"-like interiors designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh?
Current status: Delisted good article

How many? edit

In 1878 Miss Kate Cranston opened her first tearoom, the Crown Luncheon Room, on Argyle Street, Glasgow [...] On 16 September 1886 she opened her Ingram Street tearoom [...] She opened new tearooms in Buchanan Street in 1897 and Argyle Street in 1898, then completed her chain of four establishments with the Willow Tearooms in Sauchiehall Street, opened in 1903. [my emphasis] That would seem to make five in all, unless one of the earlier ones had been closed in the mean time.195.195.244.154 12:16, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's how the sources cited phrased it, but as noted under the Walton and Mackintosh section she acquired a smoking room somewhere, and by 1898 had expanded (and refurbished) the Argyll street operation: I've rephrased it to clarify that point. ...dave souza, talk 14:36, 9 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

GA Sweeps (on hold) edit

This article has been reviewed as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed.

1) The lead should be expanded to 3-4 paragraphs.

2) I put 3 'fact' tags in the article. Please, add citations.

I will check back in no less than seven days. If progress is being made and issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far. Regards, Ruslik (talk) 11:49, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Since there has been no improvements I will delist this article. Ruslik (talk) 06:39, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
