DYK nomination

Clarification

edit

This article has been rated as 'Start-Class' on the quality scale. I have removed from the WPMILHIST template (above) all criteria checked against the 'B-Class' status, filled out by Molestash, because they are not applicable here as of yet. See: Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/B-Class FAQ for more info. To fill out this checklist, the article needs to be nominated for the 'B-Class' assessment first. The 'Start-Class' criteria are already met per Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment including picture, multiple links and subheadings. – According to the page views, this is clearly the primary topic. Hoops gza (talk) 01:27, 3 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

This is a valid point. Should we wait for the June/July results, or would they be affected by this vote again? Mind you, entries about Nazis get a higer number of hits on average. For example Wilhelm Dörr (Nazi) has been viewed 468 times in 2012-05 while Wilhelm Dörr (athlete) has been viewed only 82 times in 2012-05. Poeticbent talk 23:07, 3 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
Well, the idea of WP:Primary topic is that it is "much more likely" that a user searching for the name is looking for that particular topic -- and not any other topic with that name. Wikipedia hits are not the only determinant of "primary topic"; some other sources of evidence are listed at WP:Primary topic. One of these is Ghits. After reading your comment, I decided to try a Google search. Even though I had recently done web searches for Bruno Müller the Nazi, today when I searched on the name in Google, several of the top hits were for living people. The top result is a German guitar player by this name. I also get hits on the CEO of a company named Muller Martini, an artist named Bruno Müller-Meyer, a biologist in Zurich and a man in Brazil named Bruno Müller, and a bunch of pages on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Not all of these people are notable, but I think some of them probably are. My overall impression is that the Nazi probably is not the primary topic within the meaning of WP:Primary topic. Regardless, it would be better to evaluate this after another month or two have elapsed, so that the freshness of this article doesn't bias the rssults. --Orlady (talk) 05:14, 4 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Support The "Nazi" qualifier is distasteful anyway, if sometimes necessary. --BDD (talk) 19:17, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak support, or wait. I would prefer to avoid using "Nazi" as a qualifier. I think Orlady makes a good point about readership stats though - DYKs inevitably get a spike in readership numbers, so if our decision is to be based on (or strongly influenced by) hit count, it should wait until after the spike has subsided. bobrayner (talk) 10:37, 6 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Move error

edit

As I was moving this page I hit a database error that messed it up and I was not able to return to it until now. At this point what I've done is move the former Bruno Müller (Nazi) to Bruno Müller, which now contains the entire page history. Bruno Müller (rower) can be found via the hatnote. Hopefully this arrangement is suitable.Cúchullain t/c 01:53, 13 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
