American BushtitBushtit – "American Bushtit" is not the current official common name of Psaltriparus minimus based on the most recent AOU Checklist of North American Birds publication of common and scientific names of American birds. The common name remains "Bushtit." And there is no proposal to change the name at this point either.Mainesong (talk) 13:29, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Against: Wikiproject Birds standardizes on IOU for english bird names, not the AOU. The IOU lists as American Bushtit. The American Bushtit english name is used to distinguish the species from other bushtits in the family Aegithalidae....Pvmoutside (talk) 17:19, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oppose As above, IOC is the global standard for birds on Wikipedia. AOU as a regional list is too parochial, there are seven other bushtits. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 19:16, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
Oppose. There are a number of birds that can be called bushtits for short. Perhaps, the American Bushtit it is called just "Bushtit" where it is found, but this can cause confusion on the Wiki. Snowman (talk) 21:59, 14 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
