Aberfeldy Distillery → Aberfeldy distillery – Per WP:NCCAPS, I've been moving "X Distillery" articles to "X distillery". I am unable to move this one as a page already exists there (a redirect). Cabe6403 ^{(Talk•Sign)} 09:21, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Think I may have messed up by trying to fix that by moving the edit history to another redirect but it still won't let the move go through. An Admin will have to sort it out but I support the move. Stuart.Jamieson (talk) 10:51, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

• Oppose. It's the title of an establishment, therefore a proper name, therefore both parts should be capitalised. Why on earth have you been moving these articles? It's completely incorrect. Look at their websites - they are proper names! -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:53, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

The website for this place is so difficult to negotiate that it's hard to see. However, other articles where the websites clearly do show "Distillery" capitalised have been moved. Examples: Glen Scotia Distillery, Glengyle Distillery, Springbank Distillery, Ben Nevis Distillery, Glen Ord Distillery, etc etc. Is there any good reason why it has been decided that these are not proper names? If not, they should be moved back immediately. After all, we don't say Edinburgh castle or the Forth bridge. Yes, these do but not anywhere near consistently or to a standard that would make us assume they are applying a proper name or even manual of style. for instance GlenScotia "Sold to Bloch Bros. and renamed Glen Scotia distillery.", Kilkerran "...built his own distillery called Glengyle." Springbank "Springbank distillery is found right in the middle of this delightful Argyll town..." and so on. This is combined with other inconsistent capitalisation across the websites - a larger RFC might be warranted somewhere central because no case is really clear. The Forth Bridge and Edinburgh Castle examples may make sense if enough secondary sources can be found to establish these as proper names. Stuart.Jamieson (talk) 19:04, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

• Support: To me it seems reasonable for articles about distilleries officially named "Brandname Distillery" to be titled "Brandname distillery" on Wikipedia (regardless of what the company that owns the distillery says on its web site) – at least unless secondary reliable sources very consistently indicate otherwise. Here are two further pieces of evidence supporting this that are found in the article: 1) the phrase "the Aberfeldy Distillery", in which the inclusion of 'the' indicates that 'Distillery' is being used as a word rather than as part of a proper name (despite the capitalization), and 2) the phrase "Aberfeldy is the only distillery in Scotland ...", in which the omission of 'Distillery' indicates that it is not an indispensable part of the name. —BarrelProof (talk) 19:50, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
