Agreed : seems fair request to me. It was not a single attack indeed. WikiCamael (talk) 14:18, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Blocked sock. Dekimasuよ! 18:02, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Agreed : We've used this nomenclature in other multi-point strikes by the same group over a short time period (e.g. mumbai 2008). Suntzu3500 (talk) 16:32, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Victims?

edit

Is it really appropriate for "travelers" to be listed as victims? Is that standard practice in similar infoboxes? – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 14:31, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

infobox do not have any other option to be used. I would rather use "impacted" than victims. WikiCamael (talk) 14:40, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
I've removed it for now, because it seems misleading. – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 14:50, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Perpretrators

edit

Brussels Signal says the attacks use similar methods to those used by far-left elements, citing Le Figaro. (Mr grasp of French is rusty, so I won't try to translate the latter article.) Is there a source that definitely says who the attackers are? Tactics can be copied, so the similarity of tactics may be misleading. Autarch (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I would wait. The root source, as far as I can see, is "insiders" and "sources" - aka, nothing official. We should wait until the police or government makes an official statement, or its widely reported. Couruu (talk) 16:09, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Agreed. Autarch (talk) 18:43, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Disagree. If multiple reliable sources assess the affiliation of the perpetrators, we should include this for now. With careful wording. Better than nothing. gidonb (talk) 19:30, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

This BBC article suggests far-left elements or Russia, although both seem fairly speculative so far. Bondegezou (talk) 21:51, 26 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Sabotage sites

edit

Is it possible to upload the Sabotage sites map to Wikidata so it can be used in other language wikis? Or provide a tutorial for making a map? Znuddel (talk) 14:36, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Which map do you mean?
  • The one in the infobox is on Commons, so it’s readily usable on any wiki (though the text parts will remain in English). In fact, it’s already on Wikidata, in image (P18).
  • The one below the infobox uses complex templates – Wikidata doesn’t store such data; other wikis may have the necessary templates, in which case it’s just copy-paste, or may not, in which case it’s impossible to use that map. It could be redrawn from scratch using mw:Help:Map Data and then linked to using geoshape (P3896), which would then be readily usable on any wiki, but I don’t know how to GeoJSON.
In my opinion, the map in the infobox is better because it contains more data: place names, railway lines, which attacks were successful. So I’d just use that one in other wikis, without bothering to rewrite the template map in GeoJSON. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 19:36, 28 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Investigation

edit

The"Investigation" section on the French wiki ("Enquête") has much more information, I suggest to translate it: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabotages_sur_le_r%C3%A9seau_ferroviaire_fran%C3%A7ais_en_2024#Enqu%C3%AAte 31.221.247.153 (talk) 16:44, 29 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
