Not sure which image is the best to use for the infobox. Below are some images from the airport article.

Control tower at Domodedovo airport

Domodedovo passenger terminal

Domodedovo International terminal

Or alternatively we could just use the map image.

HOW THE HELL? How did the guy that wrote this stub KNOW that this bombing is part of the Chechenian War???? I mean, it is suspected so, but it is not known for certain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.234.173.198 (talk) 15:41, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

The real question is, what else could it be. This isn't our speculation, it's everyone's. Wikipedia isn't about things that are known for certain, it is about reporting the opinions offered in quotable sources. --dab (𒁳) 16:45, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I think it's down to how the explosion occurred in the baggage reclaim, so implicating an employee. Otherwise security of inbound flights will be questioned. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:53, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps not if it happened in arrivals... The Rambling Man (talk) 16:59, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Wrong name makes Wikipedia look like idiots

edit

It is an American habit to call airports, "international airport". I have even seen Americans call it Heathrow International Airport.

Now it is on the main page for the world to laugh at Wikipedia. Let us change the title and take out the word "international". See http://www.domodedovo.ru/en/ Nesteoil (talk) 16:58, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not sure the "world [will] laugh" at Wikipedia for using the name by which the airport is commonly referred. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:01, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
indeed. Anyone who discovers an error in Wikipedia, or even a presumed error, and concludes that "Wikipedia look like idiots" in my book looks like an idiot. Omg, I found an error in Wikipedia's 3.5 million articles, you guys must be idiots! --dab (𒁳) 19:32, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
If it is a common mistake, fewer people will laugh. The name is on the main page which makes errors potentially laughable as opposed to buried in an article. For example, if the logo said "Wikipedia, the fry encyclopedia" instead of "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia", that would be an embarassing mistake. However, if it is in the Wikipedia article buried, it's just a typo. To user:dab, better to leave a message on my talk page to call me an idiot. Nesteoil (talk) 20:58, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I just want to point out that several Airports in the UK have "International" in their name, for example:

It is up to the airport to decide what official name it should have. On Wikipedia Domodedovo International Airport is called DIA not DA, if you want to change it to "Domodedovo Airport" then take the discussion to Talk:Domodedovo International Airport. This article should copy whatever the Airport is called on Wikipedia. We should have consistency throughout this encyclopaedia. IJA (talk) 21:12, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

While the original poster seems pretty disagreeable, I think he's right; checking the official website of the airport, it seems it should be called "Domodedovo Airport" or "Domodedovo Airport Moscow," or something like that. D Haggerty (talk) 00:48, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I am very agreeable, not disagreeable. I did not know of the international usage. I thought it was an error. However, it seems that the airport, itself, is imprecise and changing with its own naming. Nesteoil (talk) 16:15, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
However it's official name is "Domodedovo International Airport", see here IJA (talk) 01:58, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why is the navigation template in that horrible side-bar, rather than the standard footer format? Lugnuts (talk) 18:22, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

There are a number of side-placed navboxes. They are horrible. I don't think we have a Wikipedia-wide approach. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:38, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
It is the {{Campaign}} navbox, which is used on battles and terrorist attacks. I agree that it is terrible. (And that most other side navboxes are also terrible.) Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:40, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Terrible, agreed, change. It also gives the perception that we're trying to place the event in a context before anything certain is known. Lampman (talk) 20:02, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Culprit?

edit

Do we not yet have the information to say who the suspects for the attack are? 146.87.52.50 (talk) 18:35, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

It says in the article, suspected suicide bomber, whose head the authorities have recovered. Russian press are saying "Arabic", but of course, take that with a pinch of salt until we get further reliable sources to back up the statements. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:37, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
We can still edit the article to say the so-and-so news agency suspects that "Arabic" people are behind the attack (if that is indeed that they say). Equally if there are other sources which state that it is too early to say then these might also be included for completness sake.Greenshed (talk) 20:44, 24 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Victims

edit

There was only one UK victim, initially announced two but it was revised see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12278369 can someone update accordingly as article is semi-protected 86.63.26.124 (talk) 19:14, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

2011 Domodedovo International Airport bombingDomodedovo International Airport bombing — Unless there has been an earlier bombing on this site, the "2011" is quite superfluous. WP:AT advises that titles should be concise and no more precise than necessary. It is important that readers know the event happened in 2011 but this is what the text in the article is for and not a job for the article title. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 02:23, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Lead too short

edit

I've restored the {{lead too short}} tag as three sentences is really inadequate per WP:LEAD. An editor moved a large chunk of the old lead into subsections, but has gone a step too far. We need to summarise the whole article in the lead. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:34, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I've tried to do that, and have removed the "lead too short" tag. Tbmurray 12:37, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Very nice job, thanks. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:07, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sentence fragment

edit

"The Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, consisting of former Chechen militants and politicians living in exile[citation needed], released a statement sending condolences to the victims and condemned the bombing, suggesting.[64][65]" - Suggesting...what? Either the comma and the word "suggesting" should be removed, or something should be added after "suggesting". The word was added with this dif, so I'm assuming it was just an accidental addition. I'd remove the word myself, but the page is locked. 72.37.244.28 (talk) 15:28, 31 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

"Foreign citizen"

edit

Isnt this an oxymoron ? 192.54.144.229 (talk) 07:33, 8 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

I assume the page is refering to citizens of foreign [foreign to Russia] countries. --Yalens (talk) 18:41, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
