A seemingly interesting topic, I will take care of this review. Go Phightins! 03:24, 29 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry I forgot about this. Now I will begin.

Some general comments in somewhat chronological order:

  • I don't think the lead does a very good job at all of summarizing the content in the article; it does an adequate job of summarizing the buildup, by information on the other key sections (the "during" and the "after") is lacking in a big way.
  • Terrific background section; well-cited, interesting, and informative.
  • I will AGF on the sources behind a paywall; the only two subscriptions I have are ESPN Insider and HighBeam, none of the newspapers, so I cannot really check those sources.
  • Call me a nerd, but I would like to know a little bit about the umpires for the series...were they American, Cuban, a mix? Did the MLB Umpires Union have anything to say about the series? Did they get paid extra for going to such a country? If so by whom? I would just like a little information, as that seems like it has potential to be an interesting sub-plot.
  • The "aftermath" section could use a few additional references...they are a tad sparse, though that article substantiating paragraph one is good. This is a minor concern, though.
  • I seem to recall that captions to images should not have ending punctuation

Thanks for the review. I'll make the needed changes in the next day or so. A couple quick responses for now though...

  • Yeah the lead is too short. I think I recall saying that to myself even as I nominated the article, and yet I haven't expanded it. I'll get on that.
  • I can add detail on umpires. I believe it was a mix. And thank you for giving me permission to call you a nerd :)
  • In addition to the lead, I thought the "Aftermath" might be the other area needing some beef up.
  • Image captions should end in punctuation if they are full sentences. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:20, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Okay, I've done some work on this now. Let's see if I've done enough...
  • Lead has been expanded. I think the major points are covered.
  • I added information on the umpiring as I could find it. MLB umpires refused to work the series, so it was a mix of minor league and Cuban umpires, though I can't find a full roster of them.
  • The aftermath section has been expanded. One of said Cuban umpires defected in 2009, and I mentioned the WBC. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:32, 13 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
