Template:Infobox building now has a public transit access parameter

After years and years of people proposing it basically uncontested on the talk page but it never getting actioned, we've finally added |public_transit= to {{Infobox building}}. There are 22,000 transclusions, so there's plenty of work for any of you who want to start using it; feel free to pick your favorite buildings and add the information for them. Article Trafic Light - colour names

The article "traffic lights" uses mostly the term orange when refering to the third colour usually between green and red. Even if the colour used appears darker or more reddish than pure yellow, in most cases amber would be the better reference to the actual colour. But then formally speaking, even this is at least questionable and sometimes explicitly wrong. For example, German Traffic rules explicity refer to it as Yellow. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.134.162.73 (talk) 10:02, 13 October 2020 (UTC)

Walkit.com - dead site and app - OK to edit?

Please see our article Walkit.com and have a look at my query at Talk:Walkit.com. Briefly, I think it is gone - the site is gone, the app is dead etc. There isn't really an RS saying so explicitly (though I did find a listing for the company saying it was defunct) but there is circumstantial evidence aplenty, and there is as far as I can see no evidence that it does still exist. We also have WP:BLUE. Can't I just edit it to state what seems obvious? I am unsure of the rules here. If Project people here have a view do please join me at Talk:Walkit.com to add your 2p or 2c worth! Thanks and best wishes to all DBaK (talk) 10:13, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered, this looks like an WP:IAR situation. I'd add the information, but also add a {{cn}} tag to indicate that it should be sourced if a source can be found.
If you've searched thoroughly and there really appear to be no sources indicating that the site has gone offline, that adds to the notability concerns that I see the page is already tagged with. You may want to consider nominating it for deletion. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 04:29, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
Thank you very much, Sdkb, for the helpful reply. I will give it a while in case anyone else wants to chip in, then proceed along those lines. Afair the notability tag is quite old and I think it subsequently won a couple of awards/lists and stuff, so I will probably aim to be content with updating it and leaving it. I am probably guilty of applying the Idiot's Test of well I've heard of it so it must be notable! Anyway, I won't do anything in a hurry – the Internet will probably survive a day or two more of this being unedited! Thanks again and all good wishes DBaK (talk) 08:20, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

I've now updated it to reflect what can currently be seen. Best wishes to all DBaK (talk) 21:58, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

A class criteria MfD

Hi all, I have noticed that you have a pro forma A-class review instructions page. It appears never to have been used and I don't expect it will be used, so I've nominated it for deletion as I don't think it is particularly helpful to your project. It's very similar to some other A class review instructions around so I am guessing it was created without much specific thought. I have done this without prejudice and 100% respect if there are variations in opinion here :). The MfD is here: Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:WikiProject Transport/Peer review/A-Class review instructions. Hong Kong Roads

Hi, I've been looking at the unsourced articles lists, and I've found a huge pile of ones about Hong Kong: not piddly little side-streets, but the major roads on the island. In my heart-of-hearts, they're notable, so I feel like making a concerted effort to 'prove' it by adding sources. But... Roads bring up so much other noise by regular search methods. Is there a general guide for finding RSs for roads? Is there a better way to search that cuts down on slogging through addresses and travel guides and other such unhelpful hits? Standard for semi-combined or coincident stations in different networks

Toronto has several different public transit networks that are sort of integrated, but not entirely. One great example in Toronto's Union Station, which is actually three stations:

Another is Exhibition GO Station and Exhibition Loop, the former is for rail transit and is operated by GO Transit/Metrolinx, and the latter is for rapid transit and is operated by the TTC. When the Ontario Line is constructed, a TTC station would join the Exhibition GO Station. Is there a standard for when articles for coincident and shared named stations should be merged or kept separate? From a certain perspective, these are just different platforms in the same station, serving different transportation modes. Many thanks! TimeEngineer (talk) 17:09, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

Article missing on safe streets movement

Although we have Vision Zero, we seem to be missing an article on the safe streets movement/pedestrian activism more generally. USCG Captains License - REFLIST errors

I'd like to offer to edit the Reflist but don't know how. 1) some Reflist links go to specific training schools rather than list of all approved schools. 2) some Reflist links are invalid ( "Charter Boat Captain Information") = 404. Should be updated to current page: https://www.dco.uscg.mil/nmc/charter_boat_captain/

Crime associated with public transit

Do we have an article about crime in the immediate vicinity of transit stops? Not on the transit, but (for example) the fact or perception that criminals could use transit to reach more-distant target areas that previously had low crime? I know anecdotally when I've lived in places where transit projects are proposed, sometimes affluent residential or shopping areas are opposed to stops because "it brings in the criminals". User script to detect unreliable sources

I have (with the help of others) made a small user script to detect and highlight various links to unreliable sources and predatory journals. Some of you may already be familiar with it, given it is currently the 39th most imported script on Wikipedia. The idea is that it takes something like

  • John Smith "Article of things" Deprecated.com. Accessed 2020-02-14. (John Smith "[https://www.deprecated.com/article Article of things]" ''Deprecated.com''. Accessed 2020-02-14.)

and turns it into something like

It will work on a variety of links, including those from {{cite web}}, {{cite journal}} and {{doi}}.

The script is mostly based on WP:RSPSOURCES, WP:NPPSG and WP:CITEWATCH and a good dose of common sense. I'm always expanding coverage and tweaking the script's logic, so general feedback and suggestions to expand coverage to other unreliable sources are always welcomed.

Do note that this is not a script to be mindlessly used, and several caveats apply. Details and instructions are available at User:Headbomb/unreliable. Questions, comments and requests can be made at User talk:Headbomb/unreliable.

Wheely

Hello! On behalf of the vehicle for hire company Wheely, I have submitted an edit request to update the article's History section. The replacement section I've proposed offers a slightly different overview of the company's early history, removes unnecessary mention of someone unrelated to Wheely, and corrects a statement about service in the Middle East. I don't edit articles directly because of my conflict of interest, so I'm hoping a WikiProject Transport member might be willing to update the entry on my behalf. Thanks! Eyes needed on transportation organization article

An article I wrote five years ago, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance, was recently nominated for deletion. The sourcing I identified shows the organization to have a major role helping with each state's driver safety efforts. The media sources are announcements of the group's safety efforts in transportation trade publications, but there are also some non-traditional sources including state web sites, which include background info in the states' driver safety manuals. Does this look like enough to keep the article? TechnoTalk (talk) 03:33, 15 July 2022 (UTC)

Feedback on a bus body userspace draft

Hi folks,

Due to WP:WikiProject Buses being inactive and on the advice of WP:Helpdesk, I'll make an enquiry here.

Would anyone be willing to have a good look through my userspace draft, User:Hullian111/sandbox/Alexander R-Type, and give me some pointers on how to improve it for submitting it for draft review? I've worked on it for the best part of two years, and I'm slightly concerned that the scope needed of the article, detailing one of the most common bus bodies in the UK and Ireland of the 1990s, has lead to it becoming a burden to edit.

A couple of things:

  • Yes, there are some blanked sections which need sorting, i.e. "The FirstGroup were the biggest operators of Alexander Royales, purchasing [x] from 199x to 1999" and "First West Yorkshire purchased [x] Royales from 1997 to 1999", as well as some bits highlighted in all-caps. I have intentions to complete them when I can find a source, however those are starting to become rather hard to come by. It might be best to suggest to delete them or integrate them into another paragraph in some way.
  • A lot of the sources cited in the article are WP:OFFLINE, and some of those might not be properly filled out. I have a large collection of photographic extracts from many piles of UK bus & coach trade on hand, but from around September 2019 to early-2020, I didn't consider noting some of the dates, page and issue numbers of the magazines. In that regard, I've tried my best to make up for it.
  • Speaking of the magazine article citations, some of them mention that the then-new buses are fitted with "Alexander bodies" or "Alexander R-type bodies", with but a few of them specifying whether they are RH, RL, RV or Royale bodies, hence why I feel the draft quality is a bit dubious. What should, therefore, be done about that - should I consider breaking down R-type deliveries by powertrain variants or keep them as-is?
    • There's also a case where an article states SB Holdings (Strathclyde Buses + Kelvin Central Buses) ordered "150 Volvo Olympians with Alexander RL bodies", but on a site I use as a reference point for bus deliveries, I can only track down a total of 60 Olympians with RL bodies that were delivered to Strathclyde; the remaining 75 (52 for Strathclyde, 23 for Kelvin Central) all were built with Royale bodies, which I assume was a change in order after the article was published. Because none of these articles are online, however, it is tricky to verify if this is the case.
  • Would giving a few citations describing how many R-types were ordered by the Stagecoach Group one year, i.e. from one article stating "240 Leyland Olympians with Voith transmissions of which 100 wil be Alexander RS(?) bodied", be sufficient to demonstrate it was most popular with the company? Other articles state a vast amount of Olympians, Leyland and Volvo, were ordered by the group, however they don't mention the Alexander body type, and it seems impossible to give an exact number of how many R-types were delivered to Stagecoach.

Feel free to discuss here or on User talk:Hullian111/sandbox/Alexander R-Type - unfortunately, WP:Peer review doesn't quite work on user talk pages. Just really want to get this page out the mud and into a more finished state. Hullian111 (talk) 17:19, 3 January 2023 (UTC)

Project-independent quality assessments

Quality assessments by Wikipedia editors rate articles in terms of completeness, organization, prose quality, sourcing, etc. Most wikiprojects follow the general guidelines at Wikipedia:Content assessment, but some have specialized assessment guidelines. A recent Village pump proposal was approved and has been implemented to add a |class= parameter to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, which can display a general quality assessment for an article, and to let project banner templates "inherit" this assessment.

No action is required if your wikiproject follows the standard assessment approach. Over time, quality assessments will be migrated up to {{WikiProject banner shell}}, and your project banner will automatically "inherit" any changes to the general assessments for the purpose of assigning categories.

However, if your project has decided to "opt out" and follow a non-standard quality assessment approach, all you have to do is modify your wikiproject banner template to pass {{WPBannerMeta}} a new |QUALITY_CRITERIA=custom parameter. If this is done, changes to the general quality assessment will be ignored, and your project-level assessment will be displayed and used to create categories, as at present.
