I want to create an article titled:

"1992 temple attacks in United Kingdom"

These are the available sources

Those who create articles, should tell whether this can be created or not?

I don't want to create if it will be deleted. ZebraaaLounge (talk) 09:16, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you can create an article about this subject. Please go here: WP:YFA. Salimfadhley (talk) 09:22, 19 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

New Wikipedia Guideline Proposed which you might be interested in

edit

Hello. I am letting editors know who participated in the recent discussions that decided whether the Killing of David Amess should be called "killing, murder, or assassination", about a new Wikipedia essay being proposed for a new guideline. The essay, Wikipedia:Assassination, explains how the common definition of "assassination" does not determine an article's title. Only reliable sources can determine whether it is murder/killing or assassination. Since you participated in those recent discussions, I wanted to drop a message to you about this new proposal. If you want to leave your opinion about it, you can do so in this discussion. Have a good day and keep up the good editing! Elijahandskip (talk) 03:07, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

How to nominate an article for deletion, and what are the rules for deletion? ZebraaaLounge (talk) 05:28, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

There are different processes for deletion, depending on the circumstances. Deletion policies are summarized at WP:DELETE. 331dot (talk) 06:57, 27 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Preferences - gadgets

edit

Just tell me which ones to mark, for editing. I understand HotCat.

  • Add two new dropdown boxes below the edit summary box with some useful default summaries
  • Citation expander: automatically expand and format citations using Citation bot
  • (S)Syntax highlighter: Alternative to the default coloring of wiki syntax in the edit box (works best in Firefox and works almost all of the time in Chrome and Opera)
  • (S)HotCat: easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions (example)
  • (U)wikEdDiff: improved diff view between article versions (not needed if wikEd is used)
  • (S)ProveIt is a tool that adds a graphical user interface to find, edit, add and cite references (demo)
  • ProveIt (classic version) is a tool that adds a graphical user interface to find, edit, add and cite references (demo). This is the classic, original version of the gadget.
  • Shortdesc helper: easily add and edit page short descriptions
  • (U)wikEd: alternative full-featured integrated text editor for Firefox, Safari, and Google Chrome (documentation)
  • Yet Another AFC Helper Script: easily review Articles for creation submissions, Files for Upload, redirect and category requests
  • (D)CharInsert: add a toolbar under the edit window for quickly inserting wiki markup and special characters (troubles?)
  • Enable the legacy (2006) editing toolbar. This will be overridden by the "Enable the editing toolbar" option in the Editing tab.
  • (D)Add extra buttons to the legacy (2006) editing toolbar
  • (D)refToolbar: add a "cite" button to the editing toolbar for quick addition of commonly used citation templates
  • Install scripts without having to manually edit JavaScript files (documentation)

I will leave this request open in case anyone else has any suggestions to offer, but my advice is to try out any which you think may be helpful to you, and remove them if you find you don't like them. Only you can know what you like. JBW (talk) 17:10, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
All of these gadgets are optional and are offered because some people like them but are non-standard because some people would prefer not to use them.
There are even more "gadgets" available as user scripts.
I don't recommend turning on a lot of them at once. You should try each one out that looks like it will help you in more-or-less isolation. Once you've used it for a while, you can decide whether or not to keep it. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 20:07, 7 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Important Notice

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Do these sanctions involve only article edit, or talk page edits also? Knight Skywalker (talk) 14:26, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Right now there are no specific sanctions against you; the above message is simply a notification that you have edited in an area where sanctions can be imposed. 331dot (talk) 16:52, 10 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Discretionary sanctions alert - India/Pakistan

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Similar to the above, there is no sanction against you, but you need to be aware that administrators have a "license to kill" in that area. I think I can discern a pro-India bias from your edits (although as far as I can tell you did not breach any guideline).

Your recent question at the Teahouse (riot, 120 deaths vs. 200 deaths) in particular gives me pause. Wikipedia articles are not in the business of assigning blame. TigraanClick here for my talk page ("private" contact) 16:53, 12 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

March 2022

edit

Hey, you recently made an edit to 2021 Bengal post-poll violence, but you did not check for the information already existing in the page. In this case, "In September 2021, A BJP worker who was allegedly beaten up by TMC workers and sustained serious head trauma died in hospital and BJP demanded a CBI probe into the issue." was already mentioned in the article. Kindly pay more attention from the next time. Thanks. >>> Extorc.talk(); 15:25, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Extorc Whoever wrote it should have mentioned candidate not worker. He lost the election but he was contesting for the post of MLA. BJP/TMC workers getting killed, but here a candidate died. Not the same thing. --Knight Skywalker (talk) 15:37, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply
