A barnstar for you!

  The Original Barnstar
For actually resolving the issue on a maintenance template I placed. Rewriting is really hard, much moreso than mindlessly deleting problematic content. Thank you. Mach61 (talk) 23:53, 28 December 2023 (UTC)
@Mach61, thanks very much for the kind message. Wracking talk! 20:18, 29 December 2023 (UTC)

WP:HOCKEY

Howdy. Though we disagree on a certain topic, concerning ice hockey. Just wanted to let you know, I'm grateful that you haven't tried forcing the changes you want, via the editing route. About a year or two ago, an editor (via edit-warring) tried to replace the Soviet Union as a birthplace in many hockey player bios, under the argument that Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania were 'never' a part of the USSR. GoodDay (talk) 22:58, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out. I hope you find it genuine when I say I operate in good faith and do not intend to be disruptive. Best, Wracking talk! 23:03, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Policy 713

Hello Wracking, I recently added a new section to the Policy 713 article based on pretty relevant information that hadn't been added yet, as well as made some expansions upon the article itself. Would you like to give your opinion on it? Thanks. B3251 (talk) 13:46, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

@B3251: Yes, I'll take a look soon (in the next few days). I'll also respond to any other comments you left on the talk page re:my notes. Thanks for reaching out! Wracking talk! 17:16, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Copy-edit to Westminster Abbey

Hi Wracking, are you still working on this article? You haven't edited it since 15 January. Cheers, Baffle☿gab 05:33, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

@Baffle gab1978, yes I am! Thanks for checking. IRL stuff got a bit crazy! Wracking talk! 00:02, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
That's what I thought; no problem. :) Cheers, Baffle☿gab 01:12, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to articles about living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 09:53, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Quick question about Yonkers, New York

Do you think I should remove the [relevant] tag from the sentence regarding how Yonkers is considered a City of Seven Hills. I did change the source but I’m not sure if I should remove the [relevant] tag or the sentence itself. The Cadillac Ranger (talk) 02:56, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

@The Cadillac Ranger, good question! I think the [relevant] tag is no longer needed but a supplementary source may be needed (the source establishes use of the term, but not its origin). The City of Seven Hills moniker should be mentioned outside of the lead as well (perhaps in the geography section?; MOS:LEADNOTUNIQUE) Wracking talk! 03:42, 3 February 2024 (UTC)

NHL 4 Nations Face-off

Hi there, I was wondering when this draft would go to release. Obviously not right now, but I figure either once formal venues are chosen or when rosters are complete. Conyo14 (talk) 05:52, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Conyo14: It should be fine to publish whenever per WP:FUTURE. (I wouldn't be upset if people want to hold off until it's more firm, but I think it's a helpful summary of what's been verified so far.)
If we go the "publish whenever" route — I think it's fairly close to being ready for mainspace (after addressing the bolded notes I've left, or anything else I/others think of). I haven't exactly been rushing to finish, so no idea on timeline (feel free to jump in if you'd like). Wracking talk! 06:04, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

Lebow page

Lebow is suggesting legal action. I say it is hardly worth keeping the Rabinovich material at this point since this is only one relatively minor portion of a fairly detailed biography. It is just not worth it. Algyx0262 (talk) 21:34, 3 April 2024 (UTC)

@Algyx0262: Please discuss this at Talk:Bennett S. LeBow, not on my talk page. If anyone is suggesting legal action, please report it immediately per WP:LEGAL. Thanks, Wracking talk! 21:39, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
Not sure where to report it. Someone on the Jlebow thread of the talk page for Lebow mentioned a letter from his lawyer, and it is unclear the reason why they would be sending it Algyx0262 (talk) 22:00, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
