Please help me with... Creating articles, translating from between Chinese to English Wikipedia's
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (talk) 19:13, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
- For translating articles from Chinese to English, you may want to check WP:Translation. Please keep in mind that the English and Chinese Wikipedias are independent sister projects whose policies and guidelines may differ; there may be Chinese articles where a straight translation doesn't give a valid English article. Our license requires us to add a link to the original when we translate a page (that's best done on the talk page of the translated page); you can use Template:Translated page for that purpose. 1. What's a user sandbox? 2. If anyone can edit Wikipedia, then won't people vandalize pages and add whatever BS they want? How common is this and how can I prevent it? 3. Does Wikipedia use MLA ot APA citations?
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (talk) 20:49, 22 March 2019 (UTC)
- 1) A user sandbox is a sandbox created as a subpage of a user page, see Wikipedia:User_pages#SUB.
- 2) There's plenty of vandalism; much of it gets dealt with by our WP:ABUSEFILTER and never makes it through; a good portion of the rest gets spotted and reverted by bots like User:ClueBot NG. There's no real way for a regular user to prevent it but you can WP:UNDO it whenever you see it, and there are initiatives like Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit that you can join.
- 3) The short answer is that, as a general rule, it's best to use citation templates like {{cite web}} that will automatically format your references. You can find out more at Help:Referencing for beginners. 78.28.54.83 (talk) 22:12, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Please help me with... My draft article: Xiamen Bridge. It's a draft right now, not approved yet. When I go to other articles about Xiamen, though, the link is still red, as if it still doesn't exist. The same goes for the template on my user page. That's because it's an unapproved draft, am I right? It doesn't show up on search engines.
Woshiyiweizhongguoren (talk) 13:06, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
- You're right that the links are red because the article is still a draft; however, it's worth noting that if someone were to click the red link to Xiamen Bridge, they'd be informed that your draft article exists and they'd have the option of clicking the link to it. You're also correct that drafts and user pages aren't indexed by search engines, see Wikipedia:Controlling_search_engine_indexing#Other_namespaces_and_robots.txt. 78.28.54.103 (talk) 13:52, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

How do I change my user name? When I created this, my Chinese keyboard wasn't yet installed on my Huawei. I'd like to be 我是一位中国人, not Woshiyiweizhongguoren.

Hello, I'm Sjö. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ernst Chain, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Please note that creationist apologists rarely are reliable sources for anything except their own opinions. Sjö (talk) 14:41, 24 March 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't realize they were quote mined or biased. I got those quotes from a book about Christian theology. I will avoid supplying information from books like that in the future.Woshiyiweizhongguoren (talk) 15:44, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Frère Jacques, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. DonIago (talk) 13:30, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
- Alright, there's a source now. Woshiyiweizhongguoren (talk) 14:42, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
- I'm unable to load the source myself, which is a little concerning, but thanks for providing one. DonIago (talk) 15:16, 25 March 2019 (UTC)
The template on the bottom of my user page
Why is only the first line italics? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (talk) 11:04, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

Drafts and articles
If a draft is declined at AfC, you should not resubmit the draft and also create the article in main space. David notMD (talk) 13:50, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- I already fixed all the issues addressed by the last reviewer. Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 14:41, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- A second reviewer might have decided that there were additional reasons to decline the article. What you did was a non-standard short-cut. Not for you to decide that all problems are solved. If there are still flaws in the article, it is possible that it will be nominated for deletion via AfD. (I have no intention of doing so.) If that path is taken, you will have time to further improve the article and contest the AfD. David notMD (talk) 16:35, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Yes sir. P. S. I pinged you, did you see? Woshiyiweizhongguoren (🇨🇳) 17:14, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
