Re: Juve 9

@Messirulez: Hi! Firstly, good for Higuain for scoring a brace against Napoli in the Coppa Italia, but he missed one or two chances today that should have gone in. But what a beautiful win today it was nonetheless!! 3-0 is a wonderful score to take back to Barca with us, however, we must know that it is far from over yet. That was some beautiful footwork from Cuadrado, then to link up Dybala, that swivel and strike of the ball to curve it so perfectly to the corner was absolutely stunning. His second goal was another thing of beauty with a first time hit; a bullet to the corner. Ter Stengen got there just nearly, but the shot had so much power and placement it wasn't going to be stopped. Buffon made a quick reflex save on Iniesta, which didn't look like much, but it was very crucial. Higuain missed so great opportunities...shooting it straight at the keeper on a breakaway...probably thought he was offside...and what was he thinking doing a sort of weak finesse shot from the top of the box...he could've done more. Chiellini did a good job to get on the end of that header, and I love those post and in goals! Pjanic, again, didn't impress with the ball. We were a bit fortunate on one or two occasions, especially that shot that just went wide on the far side...which I think was caused when Lemina just came on, he coughed up the ball wastefully that led to that. The ref was okay, but still got a few calls wrong. Kehdira was most certainly onside, and Cuadrado's goal should've counted from his cross, although the Barca defender would've probably done better with it if no offside was called. Right at the end there it would've been good to see Dani Alves get a goal against his former team, but he hesitated too much with it. Overall, it was a great game, but I'm really anxious for the second leg, as it would be a huge feat for Juve to go through; they just need to be cautious. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:26, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Yes, a good result against Napoli (I'm glad we made it to the Coppa Italia final again), and glad as always to see Higuain score, and also good to beat Chievo, but what a result today in the Champions League agaisnt Barcelona! It's still only the first (home) leg, and Barca did manage an incredible comeback against PSG at home in their last match, after an even bigger deficit, but to have a three goal advantage, and to not concede a goal against a team like Barca going into the second leg is an amazing result; I don't know if we could have even realistically wished for a better result! Like you said, there is still a while to go: first we have to make sure we get a good result in the second leg and actually make it through to the next round, and only IF we do, it will only be the semifinals, and there are still other difficult teams left in the competition, so we need to keep our heads down and be levelheaded and keep up the hard work and concentration! Still, a great result againt a team like Barca must be such a boost! The team were excellent and really organised and defended well and attacked well and even did some nice passing out from the back under pressure, and we kept the front three fairly quiet (Bonucci, Chiellini and Alex Sandro were all fantastic), although I suppose Busquets wasn't playing which might have made a difference in midfield. Dybala played really well (really glad to see him put in a performance like this in a big European match), not just the goals, which were fantastic, but his workrate, technique, movement, set-piece delivery and passing were also all great. Great save by Buffon on Iniesta...fantastic positioning, reading of the game and reactions, and the fact that we got our second goal almost immediately after the resulting corner shows how decisive a big save can be, and he made some other good stops, catches, and punches and just lead the team with his usual vigour and always read situations well and played the ball out nicely. That was a ridiculous pass by Messi for Iniesta's one on one opportunity (in between four-five players), and he did well to see that Dani Alves had missed Iniesta's run and even if we get through (aside from that I thoguht Dani Alves played really well, even though he was a bit too aggressive at times, which led to him being booked eventually, but this also really stopped Barcelona from playing their usual game); he didn't have a great game, but even his pass to Suarez was really good, and I can't believe he missed that - good pressure from the defenders and Buffon even though he managed to free himself and shoot - I was certain that was going in. I'm glad Chiellini got the goal against Suarez's team after the 2014 World Cup incident and since he couldn't play in the 2015 final (nice delivery from Pjanic). Yes, Higuain was a bit wasteful and probably should have played the ball to Mandzukic for the tap in and not been so selfish; that was frustrating...he also missed a great opportunity with his head at the beginning, although he did force a save from Ter Stegen which Dybala almost got to in the first half, but even that other shoot from the edge of the box he took was too weak when he had time, as you said. I didn't like that Lemina held on to the ball so long at times instead of trying to play it to a teammate in a better position; he is an interesting young player but I don't think he's Pogba either, and he has frustrated me at times; same with Rincon who gave away the ball in a good position and also conceded an unnecessary foul on Messi from a great position (thankfully his free kick hit the wall). Shame about the Khedira offside call and the Higuain selfishness, and even Dani Alves' indecision at the end as you said (I don't know why because he used to have a good shot...) because I agree that we could have had even more goals, but maybe it's better to "only" be ip 3-0 so we are focussed for the second leg; yes I agree that because the whistle had gone then Umtiti (I think it was) didn't really follow Cuadrado, so he might not have scored it). Khedira played really well and with intelligence and efficiency as usual, although at times maybe he was over confident on the ball, when that is one area where I don't think he is quite world-class, and he did give it away in some dangerous areas. I thought the ref did well overall, except for two daft calls: one was Sergi Roberto's absolutely horrendous challenge on Mandzukic; Mandzukic was chasing the ball down and had the advantage and Sergi Roberto dives in with his studs up, going nowhere near the ball, and takes out Mandzukic (yes he defended himself with an elbow, but can you blame him!? That was a savage challenge and if he hadn't made it, Mandzukic could have been through in behind the defence, albeit on the left flank), which seems like a blatant yellow or even red card, but he rolls around on the floor and somehow it's Mandzukic who is booked (Mandzukic has really impressed me in this unusual winger role; he isn't the most skilful player, and he isn't scoring a lot in this position, but he runs like crazy, defends, wins balls in the air, holds up the ball for teammates, and he set up Dybala's second goal). And the supposed Khedira "dive" was also a bad call...a blatant foul, the challenge was late, and isntead Khedira is booked for diving, when we would have had a free kick in a good area, with Pjanic on the ball...those two calls seemed to change the momentum a bit for me as well. I also think Iniesta was fortunate to stay on as he should have been booked for his late challenge on Dybala at the start; the only reason why he wasn't is becaue he's Iniesta... The Chiellini handball: my view, if it hadn't hit his chest/face first, then yes, it should definitely have been a penalty, because his arm was up and he blocked a shot, but as it hit another part of his body first how can you call it a handball; he had already blocked the shot, so it was no longer a goalscoring opportunity. I hope we can pull off a result in the second leg; it will be difficult to play them at home, but one of our strengths is our defensive organisation, so hopefully that will help, but it will definitely be a difficult match. Fingers crossed! Best, Messirulez (talk) 00:06, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: Totally agree the defence was solid, and this was defeinietely a great result beyond what we probably thought was possible as you said. I just hope we can put one past them at home, that will be the sealer. We can't just go out there and defend, which, although we defended a lot today, we also had great attack and took most of our chances. I think Busquets will be back the next leg, so something else to look out for. Yeah the Khedira "dive" was BS also, totally not a dive on a late challenge as you said. Another thing that annoyed me was when, I think it was Mandzukic again, who had a good workrate as you said, was challenged, went down and stayed down, but the play continued, and I think it was Piques who instead of putting out of play like a normal sportsman like player would do, they keep it going...funnily enough, we win a foul anyway. Yeah, I'm surprised no Barca player contested the hand ball on Chiellini...as we've seen before, some refs will call those, or not see it hit his body first and calls it anyway, so we wre fortunate with that as well. At first I thought the ball struck Cuadrado in the face or something as he looked in distress as well, but it was just his collision with Chiellini. Yeah, Rincon wasn't the best, he even messed up a pass or two, especially that long cross across the pitch which caught his foot wrong and went out of play, but if it went right, it could've amounted to something. But again, great result, keep the foot on the gas, as it would be huge to make it to the next round! Avere una buona Pasqua! Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 00:44, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: Hey!! I can't believe we were able to keep two clean sheets against Barcelona! I thought the first game, our defence was a little stronger, as Barca had a couple better opportunities in the second game they couldn't finish off, but then again, Neymar in particular was so very wasteful! We could've had a couple goals ourselves which would've been nice to seal it off, but Higuain didn't play all that good. I thought Pjanic had a better game on Wednesday as he was able to find more space and give a few solid deliveries. Buffon also played very well, stopping two manageable, but important stops. But there we go again with the sometimes careless back passing which led to an ultimate Buffon error in passing it off to the wing where, I think it was Cuadrado (who had another excellent game), was closed down quickly and Khedira had to clean up the mess, ultimately receiving a yellow card for a slide he probably didn't have to make, meaning he will miss the next match. Although, this might give someone like Marchisio a chance to play, however, since he hasn't played much in this year or in the tournament, it would be nice to have Khedira who's been with it the whole time. I also liked how Allegri kept pushing the players even in the last few minutes, as if we absolutely needed to keep a clean sheet! That sort of mentality will progress you further. I'm excited to see the semi draw with Monaco! I think it is one of the better draws, but again, they mustn't underestimate any opponents at this stage. Monaco is a lot better than they were when we faced them two years ago, so Juventus will have to keep up the work and come out swinging. I can really taste the victory this year; I hope it comes to fruition! Maybe even the Treble?? *Knock on wood*. Have a good weekend! Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 12:49, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
I know! it wasn't necessarily our best game, but the fact that we managed to shut them out away, with all the attacking talent they had, and defend so well that we didn't concede too many outright goalscoring opportunities is impressive and demonstrates our organisation and strenght of character! Chiellini, Bonucci and Barzagli all played really well, and Alex Sandro was also solid, and although Dani Alves left Neymar open at times, he was often stuck to him and fouled him often and prevented him from doing too much. Higuain at times looked very good and other times he was poor; it worries me that in Europe his conversion rate isn't as good, and it's a shame he slipped on that shot (great pass by Pjanic, who was a bit inconsistent but overally did well and worked hard), and other times he went for power over accuracy. I thought his movement in coming deep and his hold up play and link up play in the middle of the park were very good, but then in the final third, he often made the wrong decisions with his passes or runs, although the same could be said with a lot of our players, even Cuadrado and Dybala at times, which is a shame, as we defended well and our counterattacks started off really well, very organised and effective, and when it seemed we were about to get into a scoring opportunity, either someone didn't make a run, or misplaced a pass, or held onto the ball too long, or didn't use the space well enough, so I feel that we need to be more clinical if we want to win the compoetition. I suppose we were being a bit consertive as to not offset the defensive balance, but if Barcelona had managed a goal, then I think it would have been a tougher match and we might have regretted not capitalising on our earlier counterattacks. Buffon had a good game and made a good save at the end, although one of his punches wasn't good and Messi missed an open net volley (although it wasn't an easy take) and one of his passes to Alex Sandro wasn't great, but overally he did well and led the defence well and made good decisions overall (even Neuer who had a great game agaisnst Real Madrid misplaced a long pass which led to a goal and fumbled on a cross, so it happens I guess). Yeah, at times some players like Cuadrado and Dani Alves (and Lemina when he came in) took some unecessary risks which led to some dangerous situations, and I also would have liked to see Marchisio play over Lemina, although maybe he isn't 100% fit yet, but he's far superior and experience and better technically and creatively, even though he might not be as mobile or energetic anymore. Yeah, I thought Allegri did well and the team seemed quite composed and strong tactically and mentally, and this is a good experience, so hopefully they can keep this up and go all the way. We technically got a good draw for the semi-final on paper with Moncao, when you compare them to Real and Atletico, but it will be a tough set of matches, as they have been playing very well as a team and are very confident, organised, and united, and they have impressed and knocked out some strong teams in these past few seasons (although maybe Borussia Dortmund could have put up more of a fight against them if they hadn't had to play so soon after the terrorist attempt on their bus; I felt for the players as I'm sure they were even nervous mentally in the second leg as apparently the match was delayed as their bus was stopped by police again for a security check or something). They also have some good and solid players, a mixture of young talent and experience, as well as Falcao who seems to be rediscovering his form after injuries, so we really need to prepare the games well, and most importantly, not underestimate them, and capitalise on any opportunities we might have; we have to defend well, but we also need to be more clinical in front of goal. I really hope we can do it, I want us to win so badly; to be in the semifinals again is a great feeling, and we need to take advantage of a more favourable draw, and not be arrogant, but work hard and keep our heads down and stay concentrated and take every game one step at a time, especially as if we do overcome Monaco over both legs, facing Real or Atletico Madrid in the final won't be easy either. I don't even care about the treble to be honest, even though winning it would be amazing, especially as we did come fairly close to clinching it two years ago; I would happily give up the Coppa Italia final and the Scudetto if it meant a Champions League title! Best regards, Messirulez (talk) 16:53, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Heyyy! I'm ecstatic Juve were able to make it to yet another final; the only difference, as Chiellini pointed out, is the very real belief the players and the fans have that Juve can actually win this year. We will likely face Real Madrid, which won't be an easy opponent, but the way Juve's played this year, they should be able to get the job done. All Juve need is a draw I believe with Roma to win the league so they can focus on Champions League (and cup) thereafter. I can't wait till the June 3rd weekend to watch this match, it will be a stunner. Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch either semi final matchup, but from what I've seen from the highlights, they've been great, just need better finishing, especially from today's match. We will need to take all our chances against Madrid. Buffon played decent once again I saw, however that mistake at the beginning almost cost them the opening goal which could've changed the game, but it was offside anyway. Too bad he couldn't get the clean sheet. The finishing could improve as I said, but Subasic did play really well. Dani Alves played a good role in the first goal, then that volley was excellent. As Buffon said, this is equivalent to a World Cup, and should be treated as such; I really hope these next few weeks will become part of Juve's victorious history! Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:47, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

I know, I'm so pleased we're back in the final and that we managed to win the second leg as well! It's been so long since we've made two Champions League finals in three years (20)! We didn't start the match off well, and that defensive error led to that early chance where they hit the post which really could have changed the tie, (is that the mistake you meant? I didnt' realise it was offside. Gigi came out a bit rashly there and probably should have stayed up, but it wasn't entirely his fault either as the pass was defelected I think and he was initially trying to get to it I think), and then Gigi made a decent stop on Falcao even though it was incorrectly ruled offside. Chiellini made an incredible clearance; I don't know how he managed to deflect that away from the goal and not put it into his own net, but if he hadn't managed to clear it, I'm certain Falcao would have scored. It was great to score on the counter from Buffon's throw after we had been struggling a bit; smart play by Dybala and a fantastic cross by Dani Alves, who had an incredible game, and his volley was incredible. It's a shame we were a bit wasteful, and that Higuain's goal was just a hair offside because it was a great run and finish and another wonderful pass by Dani Alves. Aside from the punch which led to Dani Alves's goal after the corner, Subasic played very well with his saves on Dybala and Mandzukic, and Dybala made some really nice throughpasses, which unfortunately Higuain didn't convert because he was being overly cheeky, while Pjanic took too long and saw his shot blocked (although I'm surprised considering his vision he didn't notice Higuain who was open, same with Dybala before our second goal; Higuain was a bit frustrated about that, especially when Cruadrado selfishly chose to shoot and not pass it to him in the secodn half, I would have liked it if he could have scored. Gigi didn't have his best game, but I had heard he had a back problem before the game and there was a chance we wouldn't be able to play, but he made a couple of decent saves and started the counter attack which led to the first goal. I just hope he's in really good shape for the final, along with the rest of the team, as I really want to see him lift the trophy and finally win it. Hopefully the third time for him will be the charm, as the saying goes! It's a shame we couldn't keep the clean sheet and break the record, although the unbeaten streak we set was still quite impressive and even better than the one we set under Capello when we had two legendary centrebacks like Cananvaro and Thuram, and a world-class full-back like Zambrotta, as well as Buffon in his prime, while we were also supported by an excellent two-way player in midfield like Emerson; what was most annoying about giving up the goal was that we really fell asleep for a second there, just letting the player walk into the area from the flank after the short corner, and then completely ball-watching when we had five players in the area, while Mbappe somehow managed to squeeze through them from behind and score what was essentially a tap-in from the low cross; at least it woke us up a bit. The defenders still did well overall, and Sandro, Dani Alves, Barza and Bonucci also all made some good defensive plays, even though Barza struggled a bit with Mbappe over both legs in one on one situations when he had lots of space, because of his agility, skill and turn of pace, even though in his prime he was really good in one on one situations. Yeah; we'll see what happens at the weekend with Roma. Playing in Rome won't be easy, but the fact that we only need a draw to win the title is good; I'm not sure what would be better, to have to fight for the title until the end, or to win it early, because the last two times we lost the Champions League final we had already won the league a few matches early, lol, and maybe we weren't as concentrated, who knows. More than anything, I would want us to win this final finally, as Buffon said, it would be the equivalent of winning the World Cup. This year has been great and we certainly seem more mature, stronger mentally, and a bit more confident in our abilities and we have the belief that we can pull off a great result, but playing either of the Madrid sides will be extremely difficult, probably our toughest match yet in the competition. I hope Chiellini will be fit for the final this time round, considering how well he has played in the competition, and as it would be great to see him and Buffon, and Barzagli, Marchisio, and Bonucci win the title for all they have given, as well as the newer players; I just hope he behaves himself as unfortunately he has faced some very harsh refereeing decision against him when we have played against Real Madrid in the past, if they do make it to the final, and they are favourites after having won the first leg so easily, but we will see what happens after the return leg today. I can't wait for the final; I really hope we can pull it off this year; it would be such an achievement for all the hard work by the players, coaches and management, and if we play the way we have been, being organised, intelligent in our attacks, and extremely solid and concentrated defensively, while also being clinical in front of goal, then we can win it, but it won't be easy. I suppose losing the 2015 final was an experience for many of the players, as well as facing Manchester City last year and almost pulling off a comeback against Bayern, and gaining other experienced players like Khedira (I hope it wasn't a serious injury that he had) and Dani Alves, or even Higuain and Benatia (who have reached the semi-finals of the competition in the past) really helped the team gain that drive and mentality. It's interesting because in 1998 we also beat Moncao in the semi-finals, and we faced Madrid in the final, which could potentially happen again, but we lost unfortunately, partially due to a terrible refereeing decision (the only Real Madrid goal of the match was offside), although it was a terrible match in general, so I hope that isn't the case this season and that we can play a good match and win it, especially considering how many finals we have reached and lost. Fingers crossed! Best, Messirulez (talk) 16:55, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: Yeah that was the mistake I was talking about, the rash rush by Buffon. I think once the ball hit the post and almost went to a Monaco player, he was offside and that was how it happened, could be wrong though, just what I saw from the video I saw. Yeah, that clearance by Chiellini was very risky, but had to happen as you said, Falcao was right there; surly would've gone in. I read that Khedira should probably be fine. Can't really speak to how Barzagli played since I didn't see the whole game, but I doubt we will play with three centre backs in the final, but I know what you mean. Yeah Cuadrado was a little slow on that play and he did have some time to make up his mind but ultimately wasted it, something that needs to improve now that we know we're facing Real Madrid. Ateltico put up a good fight, which still shows anything can happen. Yeah I hope it doesn't turn out to be like the 1998 final, but I think it will be very different. We did beat Real Madrid in 2015 in semis, but the teams are different now. Zidane even said Real Madrid aren't the favourites, which is probably true, but not necessarily Juve either, it is a very close match. Real Madrid will be competing for the league until the last game so they will need to focus on that as well. I think winning the title would be good now to get out of the way. Juve's already drew their last two games against opponents they could beat, so I don't think it matters too much. The Coppa Italia got moved to 17 May next week so hopefully that will be a booster. We knew what it meant to lose a final two years ago and beat the same team this year after they came back from the dead against PSG, and we know what's on the line now; Fino alla Fine! Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:16, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, the Juve players did well to clear that out. It was uncharacteristically rash of him to come out like that when he usually stays up as late as he can, and if he had I think he would have stopped the shot, but I suppose even he can have a moment of nervousness after all these years, and I guess the fact that the player was wide open caught him off guard a bit. I'm glad that didn't go in as I was sure it was a goal, and that would have changed the tie for us. Barza was still good, but in both legs when he was left exposed one v. one against Mbappe with a lot of space, he struggled against him as would anyone I think, except for maybe a quicker, younger, more agile full-back over short distances. He still defended with experience and made some good interceptions and tactical fouls etc. Yeah, that interception by Chiellini was an incredibile piece of defending; I hope he plays as well as he has been playing in the final. So we will officially be playing Real Madrid, the defending champions; Atletico did well after a terrible second leg and it's still nice for them to win that match against their rivals in their last European match at the Calderon stadium. To be honest, after 15 minutes they had two goals and the momentum and it seemed they might manage to pull off a comeback, but then Benzema did really well to beat some players and play a great ball across the area and after Oblak's save Isco just had to tap-in the rebound, which sort of ended any possibility of a comeback. I hope Allegri will prepare the team as well as has in the past and take note of Real's strengths and weaknesses. It wil be different to the 2015 match as firstly it is a one off match, and although Real have lost some players since then I feel like the team is much more experienced and confident now, and some younger players have improved a lot, and because of that they really have a lot more depth now, which means they can almost afford to play one team in La Liga and the rest in the Champions League, which is good as it takes the pressure off some of their players. At the same time, although he have lost a few players, we also gained some new ones and I feel like the team is more united. I still think Real will be the favourites, although maybe it might seem like it will be a more balanced match on paper than in past encounters; I really hope we can do it this time. Yeah, we will see what happens on Saturday; ususally after or before a big Champions League game (like with two years ago) we haven't done quite as well in the league, but I don't mind that to be honest as our goal was to get to the Champions League Final (and win that final!), so I don't know what the match will be like at the Olimpico at the weekend, although I suppose several players who didn't play on Tuesday night might be starting. Like two years ago we also have a Coppa Italia final to play, and I'm glad it was moved to next week, so hopefully that will give us time to prepare everything; that would still be nice to win as it is a final, but obviously if I could chose between winning one of the finals, I would love to win the Champions League above everything else, although if we managed to win all three titles that would be absolutely amazing. I think we have really come close to winning the major treble three times in the past (1972: we won the Serie A title, but lost the Coppa Italia and European Cup finals; 1983: we won the Coppa Italia but came second in Serie A and lost the European Cup final; and in 2015 we con the Serie A and the Coppa Italia but lost in the Champions League final. Then aside from that there were some other near misses: in 1998 we also won Serie A, reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals if I'm not mistaken, and then lost in the Champions League final; and in 1997 and 2003 we managed the same feat but lost out earlier, in the Coppa Italia quarter finals. In 1995 we narrowly missed out on a different treble, winning the domestic double but losing in the UEFA Cup final). I just hope we can defend as well as have, and then attack in our usual organised manner, but then be more clinical in front of goal; it would be nice to see Higuain finally score a decisive goal in a major final, especially against one of his former clubs! Fingers crossed and Forza Juve! Best, Messirulez (talk) 13:41, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Ciao! Great wins for the Coppa Italia and the title! The Treble is still alive! I think this is an added bonus because the players will not only have a burning desire to win the Champions League, but the Treble as well! Can't wait till next Saturday! Forza Juve! Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:05, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

  • Yeah it's great that we won a third consecutive double and a record sixth consecutive title, which also saw Buffon equal Virginio Rosetta, Giovanni Ferrari, and Giuseppe Furino as the player with the most Serie A titles ever (8!). It was nice to come off the defeat to Roma and claim the title at home with a dominant performance; hopefully the defeat to Roma really helped us realise that we can't take anything for granted and that we need to stay focussed and motivated now until the end of the season. Real also wrapped up the La Liga title this weekend; I really hope we can beat them in two weeks time to win the Champions League (and the trouble), as it would be such an amazing achievement, especially 10 years after we won promotion from Serie B following Calciopoli, and I would love to see so many of our players win it (especially the ones who have been so important to Juve's resurgence under Conte and Allegri), some of whom are still with the team since or even before the 2006–07 Serie B season. Playing Real Madrid, the defending champions, in the Champions League final will be very difficult, and we need to make sure we prepare the game well and that we are extremely concentrated and organised both defensively and when we attack, and we have to be clinical in front of goal whenever we get any opportunities and try and limit theirs as much as possible. I really hope we can do it; it's been so long since we've won the title. Best, Messirulez (talk) 16:20, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

@Messirulez: .................. I really can't believe this has happened again................. 2015 we knock out Madrid and lose 3-1 to Barca in final, then 2017 we knock out Barca and lose 4-1 to Madrid. What killed me is how we only conceded 3 goals in the whole tournament, but concede 4 today, with the fourth, we were already deflated. I can't stand these Spanish teams, or Ronaldo! What also killed me is how we played pretty well in the first half, but like absolute shit in the second. Higuain didn't do a thing besides feed Mandzukic for his goal, but there wasn't much support, and Dybala didn't play all that good either. The first half we had around, what 3 or 4 on target with their 1? Navas made a really nice save on Pjanic early on, which gave him some confidence. Their first goal was completely avoidable, Chiellini lost Ronaldo and he was left open on the pass back to him for a pretty easy shot by his standards...and the shot was almost blocked by Bonucci's foot, which hurt watching how close that was on the replay. But Juve didn't sit back by any means after that, you could sense a quick Juve response, with Mandzukic's coming up just over 5 minutes later, and what a half bicycle it was! Compared with Zidane's goal in 2002 eh?, but Mandzukic's truthfully wasn't as good, although excellent. From then on up until half, they were going back to forth, and I thought the ref was decently fair in the first half. Then came the second half................right from the start, they didn't have the look like they did before. Real Madrid dominated chances in the second. But all of their goals could've been avoided. Their second goal wasn't really our fault...came off of an unfortunate clearance and also from an unfortunate deflection off Kehdira from a long way out. The third was really just shameful...the play that ruined it was (I think Kehdira) waited for the ball to come to him, which is never smart, so it was easily picked off and whipped in to Ronaldo with poor marking from Chiellini and Bonucci...that third goal was really the dagger. After that we struggled to get back into it and you could feel the game slipping away. The ref in the second half was pretty bad I thought, calling some really dumb fouls on us, and seldom on them. When I didn't see Cuadrado in the starting line up, I was pretty shocked, also shocked by choosing to play 3 at the back. Allegri shouldn't have strayed far from the team that beat Barca. I also think he waited too long to make some changes after things started to get bad. The red card on Cuadrado was laughable however, captain Ramos really showed what he was made of with that disgraceful charade. With 5 minutes left, you're really gonna send off a guy, and their down by two?? My God. It really is a shame though because Juve had everything going for them to win it this time. Che vergogna! We've been runner-ups waaay too many times. This was the year to make a special season with a Treble and for Buffon. He now has one more year to do it, and hopefully he finishes it off with a Champions League followed by a World Cup!! (2017 Turin stampede was also terrible). Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:52, 3 June 2017 (UTC)

I'm so annoyed; we didn't deserve to win for how we played in the second half, and Real certainly dominated and deserved to win, but it's not fair that karma hasn't rewarded Buffon for his loyalty and ability, and instead someone talented but as unbearably arrogant as Cristiano Ronaldo who shoots his mouth off before the final saying that he hopes Buffon and the BBC make errors and play badly and wishes that it will be a tragic night for Juve and glorious night for Real gets to win the trophies when he was invisible almost every game and only scored tap-ins, and his first goal was going right at Buffon but Bonucci's defelction put it out of his reach (still, why did Chiellini leave him open in the middle!?). Buffon was very unlucky as he couldn't do anything about any of the goals. I don't know what happened; we were better in the first half and really kept control of the ball well, and their goal only arose from a counterattack and their first shot, but then we came back and Mandzukic got a great goal and we were tied going inyo half time. We lost it in the second half; we were already nervous at the start, but after the second goal, which was ridiculous, it was over and we were not concentrated; it was only their third shot on target, by Casemiro, and it gets deflected again and takes the most unbelievable spin out and then back in and falls right into the bottom corner by the post, which Buffon could do nothing about once again. I can't stand the abysmal journalism I've read, like this ESPN article by so called "pundits" who have the gall to say Buffon was terrible on the second goal; how on earth could he read that deflection, and with that many people in his way, and if it had been an inch to the left or right it would have either hit the post or we would have stopped it; obviously it was meant to go in, what can you do. Then of Course Sandro's chance instead hits the post. The third goal, I don't know why we had Sandro on Ronaldo instead of Chiellni or Bonucci he is such an aerial threat; maybe because Sandro is quicker. I thought some calls were a bit silly (why was Dybala booked for a pullback but Casemiro wasn't booked for two bookable challenges, especially when he should have been sent off agaisnt Bayern, but Vidal does instead; also why does Cristiano Ronaldo never get booked for going to ground so easily, it's so frustrating.), although I don't think they really influenced the game. The Cuadrado incident was stupid, but the game was over at that point; Cuadrado was really dumb to shove Ramos in front of the linesman, but you would think the officials would have had a better view of the incident, and Ramos, who had already been booked for a dangerous foul/tackle, should have been sent off for his despicable simulation,; the officiating for such incidents is a joke. Ramos is a great player, but he has done this too many times, and it's ridiculous that he should get to lift the Champions League trophy after such behaviour. I was glad to see Rio Ferdinand comment on the episode. I remember in 2013 when Ronaldo similarly fell to the floor when Chiellni's hand was raised and Chiellini ended up being sent off. Why doesn't Cristiano Ronaldo reecive a five match ban for playacting!? It's disgraceful behaviour and it needs to be treated more strictly, as all it does is demonstrate how one can succeed through deception, cheats and lies. The fourth goal was just disrespectful as at that point it was over, they had a two goal advantage, and we were a man down; it wasn't needed, but we defended very badly. I really hope we can come back next year, but it won't be easy; what can you do, I suppose it's only football! Best, Messirulez (talk) 19:23, 4 June 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: I know right! Reading all the bad mouthing from Ronaldo on Football Italia the past couple days was annoying as hell! But Buffon really couldn't do much on any of the goals. And yeah that second goal, he was decently close to getting it too, but somehow the deflection sent it so perfectly placed in the bottom corner. What annoyed me even more about the red card was how it was so close to the end, and yes the game was basically over, so all the more reason to let it go...and if anyone should've gotten the card it was Ramos. I later read that it wasn't actually a shove that sent Ramos down, it was apparently a stomp on his foot, which I couldn't see on the camera.....oh well...I'll be surprised to see what they do over the summer, maybe try and strengthen the midfield up more, maybe get rid of Allegri, invest in another goalkeeper?...right now they've gotta focus on international duty, I hope they can hammer Liechtenstein so we get our goal differential up for when we play Spain in September! Also good job on the Audero article eh! I'll probably nominate both Totti and Buffon's article for FA status soon, I'll keep you in the know. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:55, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Can you believe Bonucci leaving Juve for Milan??? It was so sudden; I thought it was all BS again! They say he will make around 8 million which is a record for Serie A...that's even more than Gio and Pirlo to play in MLS - plus it's euros. Loyal players like Buffon and Totti are hard to find now-a-days...such a shame. I guess we still have Barzagli and Benatia, but still a blow for sure. Dani Alves also is gone...hopefully we'll get De Sciglio. I think Douglas Costa was a decent buy for our attack. We're going to need to find another keeper with Audero and Neto gone too... Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:46, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

I really can't believe it, it was really quite surprising! It's quite crazy that after the whole Donnarumma situation he ended up staying and now they also ended up getting Bonucci. It's certainly disappointing that he left after all this time, but what can you do, I suppose I gave a lot for the team, but he also had the good fortune to develop alongside great players like Chiellini, Barzagli and Buffon, unlike Ranocchia (it will be strange without the full BBC, although I suppose Benatia's name also begins with B, lol; hopefully he can recapture his performances from a few years back when he was with Roma). It still seems odd that at the age of 30, when he's one of the best defenders in the world, that he's going to Milan, who aren't even playing in the Champions League, rather than a bigger European team (obviously Milan historically are one of the greatest teams in history, but right now they are still rebuilding), especially when last year both Conte and Guardiola wanted him (for quite a bit more as well). I heard rumours saying he wanted to stay in Italy for personal reasons, but ever since the argument with Allegri they had fallen out and he wasn't happy with the club, and yes, Milan offered him a record salary and the captaincy, and this season they seem to be rebuilding their team. What can you do. Now it will be tough to replace a top right back and a top centre back. Douglas Costa is a decent buy on the right wing (but didn't we also sign Cuadrado permanently in that role? I think Costa might potentially be better as Cuadrado can be inconsistent) and he is certainly a promising player, De Sciglio wouldn't be bad either (he's still fairly young but unfortunately now I don't think he will be as good as he once seemed he would be), but neither of those are amazing acquisitions either if we want to really be competitive in Europe next season; I was hoping maybe we could get James Rodriguez, or someone like that who will be leaving their club, but he ended up going to Bayern Münich; hopefully we can get a world class midfielder, or a striker who can really win us important European matches, but right now it doesn't look like we have gotten better this year. The Patrik Schick deal also fell through following his medical, which was very strange, considering he's so young and has potential; that's a bit of a shame. I guess we won't be getting Berardi anymore, although I don't know how good he will turn out to be; there were rumours of Bernardeschi joining Juve, who is quite good and young, but he's also no Baggio, so it's frustrating to see the media laud him excessively. Yeah, we will also need another keeper on top of everything as, unless we somehow win the Champions League, Buffon will call it quits at the end of the season (along with Barzagli); I heard rumours about us getting Szczęsny a month ago as a potential replacement for Buffon, which does not seem like a logical solution, although as a backup he would be good. It would be nice to get a good young Italian goalkeeper as well. Best regards, Messirulez (talk) 21:50, 14 July 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: lol that's funny about the BBC :p. But yeah the Donnarumma situation was weird as well...hopefully we can take him next year as a slight for the Bonucci deal lol. If Bonucci were to go anywhere, I was surprised it was within Serie A... well maybe it will make the league more competitive at least. But Bonucci was on a contract at Juve until 2021...these contracts really mean nothing...do you know what they do behind the scenes to allow to transfer a player under contract? I heard Bonucci and Dani Alves had tension from the Champions League final, and we know the tension between Bonucci and Allegri. The only teammate to salute Bonucci publicly was Buffon... I was thinking the same thing about Costa and Cuadrado...but at least we've got more options in that space. But we will need to also focus on the CB RB and keeper for sure. Juve have Carlo Pinsoglio as back up right now, who isn't even that young, but they'll definitely need another quality keeper before the season starts. That was a shame about Rodriguez too...but whatcha gonna do...Bernardeschi would be nice, but I don't think the Viola are going to give him up. I've heard Schick is supposed to be taking new medicals soon, but he isn't a star either really. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:38, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

Re: Italy/U21 4/Captains/GA

Hmmm...I actually missed that page so thanks for mentioning that. I could go back and do that as it is the main page for Italy captain's...think only thing is do you think it's clearer for readers to link it to the captain sub-section on the main Italy page as it has the list of official captains in order of progression instead of a list of all players who appeared as captain for Italy? I'm fine with either one though. Also I was looking through the list, and I noticed that Roberto Baggio isn't included there; I know that although he was eventually expected to inherit the armband from Maldini (before Sacchi excluded him from the team), he made his only starting appearance as Italy's captain in a 1994 World Qualifier away against Scotland, which ended in a draw and he went off injured, as I included it in his article, and I know that he wore the armband on his final appearance in 2004 but only towards the end of the friendly match against Spain, I think as Cannavaro came off; I'm not sure if he wore it again for certain intervals during matches, but he was never actually Italy's official captain. Do you know anything about this by chance, and if only starting appearances as captain count?

Best, Messirulez (talk) 16:06, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

@Messirulez: When I made List of Italy national football team captains I went off of what the Italian page listed. I also inserted "note tabs" for the players that were actually designated captains. By all means, if you see any error with the list, please touch it up. I'm not entirely sure if switching arm bands mid game count as a captain appearance, but I think they don't count. But looks like Baggio should be there. I also seen the England box link "England" as the main page and "captain" as the captain page. Maybe that's better. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:31, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Baggio's profile from the source page that I and the Italian page used for every player on the list of captains page. Shows a "C" icon for captain for the Scotland game. Does that make sense? We can add it. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:37, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I think we should add Baggio in that case for that single appearance! I'll go back later and fix the links to the main Italy captain's page! Thanks! Best, Messirulez (talk) 16:43, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Sounds good. I'll add him to the list. One thing though.... Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 101#Team Captains succession box: use or no use? on the FOOTY talk page shows a consensus not to use the succession boxes.....to me I really don't care...but that's probably why some players didn't have them there to begin with. A lot of the England captains didn't have it, took me a half dozen tries till I clicked a captain with a box still. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:49, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Hmmm I hadn't realised that...I added them in as many of the recent Italian captains had them, and all the Juventus and Milan and Inter captains had them. Well, if someone removes them, I won't complain as that was what was decided, but otherwise I don't see the problem with having them there. Also, on the official FIGC website it also says Baggio made one appearance as Italy captain, so thanks for adding him in now! I guess the Italian page must have forgotten to add him...I will check again. Best, Messirulez (talk) 20:55, 15 November 2016 (UTC)
@Messirulez: Sounds good, like I said, they don't bother me...Wiki is just bureaucratic. Anyway, yeah Baggio should be there as he's on the official page, thanks for pointing that out. I added him to English and Italian wiki ;) I'm going to look through that as I see some discrepancies between the wiki page and it. For example, Buffon's captain appearances are one less on the official site. The EU site they source for each player shows 28 appearances for Baloncieri, but the official site says 27 for example. I'll likely change these (and I think a few players are missing), official site says 96, we say 85 players... I took a look and for example they have Emiliano Viviano, on the official site, listed as having been captain twice...there's no way he was ever captain...these must be sub captain appearances?...but why would they sub on Viviano and then on top of it give him the arm band...doesn't make sense??...I don't recall. @Messirulez: Also how'd you like the last two games? Pleasantly surprised they beat Liechtenstein 4-0...but Spain beat Macedonia 4-0, so we're getting killed in goal differential. They were a little wasteful not to put more in the back of the net in the second half.. it could very well come down to Spain vs Italy next September. Also good Italy held Germany..couldn't watch that game though. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:54, 15 November 2016 (UTC) Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:45, 16 November 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, I was also surprised we were 4–0 up in the first half against Liechtenstein; although it's really disappointing that we didn't score in the second half considering we had such a lead, so much momentum, and several chances, and as we actually need to score more goals if we want a chance of topping our qualfiying group...despite dominating, we were pretty atrocious in our passing and movement despite some good ideas from our more creative players...we always had the issue of some of our players not understanding the plays or passing behind each other or not making runs to get onto passes; and we even made a dreadful back-pass which Buffon this time did well to anticipate and get rid of (good to see he didn't pull another mistake like the one against Spain; he was also solid against Germany, although it still worries me that he looks a bit slower with age) as we really should have conceded there. And yes, we needed lots of goals to improve our goal differential, so maybe he should have put on another striker in better form than Eder...I don't know why Ventura brought Zaza on as well, of all players we had, when we needed more goals...he was sloppy as usual and has been terrible at West Ham. Despite his first half goal, I thought Immobile's runs in the second half were all over the place, although he did better in the friendly against Germany. And yes, Spain thrased Macedonia, whereas we barely scraped by them...so that makes things even worse; for once, when we are usually stuck with groups with several tough but not brilliant teams, we actually have a group with almost all easy teams, but then we also get Spain, so we risk finishing second and going to a playoff regardless because they score so many goals and concede fewere because of their possession game (even if we do somehow manage to finish with the same amount of points), whereas other teams have way easier groups than us. Israel are also right behind us at the moment with three wins, which is also an added stress. I bet if Ventura had brought Giovinco along Giovinco would have managed a goal or two, or even set one up...it's not like their defenders were any better than most MLS defenders, and with his pace and skill and creativity and goalscoring form I'm sure he could have helped. I'm not too impressed with Ventura at the moment, although we did quite well against Germany, even though it was only a friendly, and they didn't have several starters, so it didn't really mean anything; but havin said that, we defended well in the first half for the most part, even though Germany dominated, and then in the second half we were better and should have probably scored and even won it (Belotti did really well all match and was so unlucky not to score when he sat Höwedes on the floor with his turn and then struck well to beat Leno only to hit the post; the only criticism I would have of him was that early on in the first half when we countered, maybe he should have passed it instead of having a strike from distance himself, but I can understand that a striker wants to have a go to try out the ball etc. Otherwise he was the man of the match for me); I suppose despite our better second half, Germany did have a dubious goal disallowed and Donnarumma probably should have done better, but he's young, so for now it's important he gets expereince against a team like that, although I hope Perin will also play in friendlies as he's older and also talented and needs more international experience...we can't burn Donnarumma out or put too much pressure on him when he's that young and promising.

Best, Messirulez (talk) 16:06, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

@Messirulez: I completely agree. Giovinco could have definitely been of use, even as a sub to come off the bench in the second half and pop a couple goals in or set up plays!...especially since Liechtenstein isn't a great team...definitely MLS teams better than them. I don't know why Ventura brought Zaza even in the first place...and especially why put him on when we need more goals like you said. Yeah..Spain is killing us in Goal differential so basically our only hope is to get a win next time we face them...won't be easy. And Israel is right behind us, yes..we cannot think that it's only Spain and Italy and everyone else in the group is automatically out, or we'll be sorry...I saw from the highlights Donnarumma's mistake...fortunate that it was offside...but he was very slow to react..Italy still needs to develop as a team..they're still testing out new aspects..Zappacosta getting debuting, new faces etc (although they have Balo and Gio right under their nose!)..Soon enough they will be brought..Speriamo...It really would've been nice to beat Germany after eliminating us in the Euros..............Sorry to ask again, but did you get a chance to see my message on your talk page regarding the captains etc....it is really confusing....I'm wondering if you have a take on it? Thanks! Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:39, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I moved my comment down here now; sorry I can't be of more help...I really don't know why it's like that: "I checked and I honestly have no idea about those anomalies on the FIGC Italy senior side list of Captains page...unless it means they captained the B-side, but I didn't think Italy had a B-side anymore...or maybe they captained in unofficial friendlies, but I don't know why they would be listed; just leave it as it is at the moment I guess. That's weird the official site would make mistakes like that. It's definitely not substitute appearances as in that case Baggio and Del Piero would have more appearances as captain. For the older players, I'm not sure what appearance record to go by, as maybe some olympic matches or other matches from minor tournaments weren't counted, but I couldn't really say." And yes, Zappacosta did fairly well; Eder is good defensively, and although he has the potential to be a good player for us as he can score and create, is quick and has good skills, he hasn't played well in a while, especially offensively, so I would probably rather have Insigne play, especially when Immobile already runs a lot.

Best, Messirulez (talk) 16:46, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Silly me! I didn't see that was part of your comment as you put a little page break there (even though you do that sometimes and I usually see it!...) anyway....yeah that's really, really odd.......I made some changes yesterday to the English captains page for example, Buffon's, Adolfo Baloncieri appearances etc to match the official site...but their supposed mistakes are offputting. I was going to make the same changes to the Italian page but wanted to hear what you said first. Maybe I'll still do the changes there and see if anyone reverts them, and maybe someone else on the Italian wiki will know why it's like that! Thanks anyway, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:57, 17 November 2016 (UTC)

@Messirulez: That was a nice controlling win over Liechtenstein last week. It brought us only 4 goals behind Spain. The match against them in September will be decisive. The U21 Euro should be good; Italy have a strong team this year. But this Donnarumma news is crazy eh? I wonder where he will go now. I hope Juve can keep Dani Alves, and start making some signings soon. Verratti would be nice to strengthen our mid, but probably a slim chance. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:51, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, a good result for Italy, and we got some goals, finally, although we were playing pretty poorly at first and it was frustrating we were struggling to score initially (although it's a shame Candreva's brilliant volley was ruled offside so early on). The Spain match will be tough, but even if we manage a draw we will still be behind in terms of goal difference (so frustrating), so we would really need to win as I doubt we will beat them on goal difference, but there is even a chance we could lose, so I'm worried we might have to settle for second place and risk having to play a playoff. It will be stressful to have to try and qualify that way, and very it's annoying when we have been playing quite well and when other teams have easier groups. Yeah, Italy have a good under-21 team (just shame Romagnoli being injured and that Belotti missed the cut-off); we started off well, but we played pretty badly against the Czech Republic (I was disappointed with Rugani and Donnarumma, although probably Donnarumma is unsettled due to all the media scrutiny - yes, very crazy news; the same with Dani Alves, his behaviour is disappointing, especially his comments regarding Juve and Dybala, but at the same time he really took us to the next level this season and was so important and decisive; it looks like both Gigio and Dani will be going to different clubs), but at least we managed to beat Germany and go on to the semifinals; the Spain game will be tough, but I hope we can "avenge" the defeat from the 2013 final, especially as the refereeing in that match was atrocious, even though Spain were still probably the better team (Spain were awarded a penalty for a perfectly clean tackle in the area when the score was still tied...). Yeah, I hope Juve can get some reinforcements; it's always hard to tell what will happen with all these transfer rumours. We have signed a couple of players (Schick, and apparently Renato Sanches has almost been finalised); I would love if we could get Verratti, but who knows what he will decide to do, and I have a feeling he would probably either go to Barca or Bayern if he left. It seems that Chelsea have made a huge offer for Alex Sandro; it's a lot of money but it would suck to lose him, especially if Dani Alves is going, as we don't have any good replacements for them. Apparently we might be getting Szczęsny as a back-up for Buffon for next season and then as a potential replacement after that; to be honest, I don't really think he's much better than Neto; at Arsenal I always found him to be inconsistent, and even though he had a good season with Roma last year and has improved, and I don't see him as a long term replacement, but who knows it we will actually sign him or not. Re: Dybala striker/centre-forward vs. forward + country vs international

Yes, I've had this problem in the past, and I don't think there is a definite answer or rule, but generally (and I agree with this), most pages use "forward" for a player like Dybala, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Ronaldinho, Baggio or Totti, who can play in multiple offensive positions (as a second striker, main striker, centre-forward, winger, etc.), as it is a more general description, and usually in the style of play section (if there is one), it specifies what roles he can play. Hope that helps! Best regards, Messirulez (talk) 15:50, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

@Messirulez: Thanks for the input. If he persists, I'll request page protection. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:56, 22 March 2017 (UTC)
I thought so as well; I was going through pages trying to make the honours list consistent, but a user reverted my edit and pointed me to the format outlined in Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players, so I was planning on going through and reverting all my previous corrections...not sure what to do though as a lot of pages say international as well... Messirulez (talk) 17:11, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: Hmm... That's strange, maybe that guideline should be amended. Who reverted you? I'll probably raise it at WT:FOOTY. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 17:43, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
The user's name is Macosal, and he added a link to that page in the caption when he reverted my edit on Matthew Ryan's page; I had changed the "country" sub-heading to "international" in the honours section, because I had seen that on Messi's page (and we had used it on all the Italian Good Article Pages we had fixed up), but accourding to the guidelines on the template page, the sub-heading should be country...so at the moment, I stand corrected! I just hope I didn't annoy or frustrate any users when I had changed the sub-headings to international (I had also done that on Cristiano Ronaldo's page). But I'm still not entirely certain if one is actually more correct, as I've seen both sub-headings used on several different Good Articles, so it might be a good idea to raise it. Best, Messirulez (talk) 18:06, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
@Messirulez: Overwhelming support at the project page for international instead of country. I've changed back the Italian players you re-changed back to country to international. An update from the Sustainability Initiative

Thank you for supporting the Sustainability Initiative!

Hi, Vaselineeeeeeee! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.

What's new?

We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)

What's next?

Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.

Please help!

Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:

  • Ask other Wikipedians to sign the project page as well – this way we can show the Wikimedia Foundation that this is an issue that the community really cares about.
  • Talk to Wikimedians you know about the importance of reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement.
  • Improve and translate the project page on Meta.

If you have any questions, you can contact us on on Meta. Again, thank you very much for your support! --Aubrey and Gnom (talk) 09:29, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

New articles for Italian referees

Hey dude, I hope everything is well with you; I know it's been awhile since we've talked. I wanted to run the idea by you of creating, probably not now but definitely at the end of the season, as many articles as possible for Italian football referees. What do you think? Italia2006 (talk) 21:50, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

@Italia2006: Hey! I'm doing pretty good thanks, hope you had a good Easter! Yeah I think it'd be a good idea since most referees we state in the footballboxes for Serie A matches, don't have Wiki articles. I must admit, it's not something I'm particularly interested in (more so creating Italian clubs in European football articles), but it's definitely something I could help you out with. I mean, most would probably be a few sentence-ers like Antonio Damato as I won't be capable of translating everything from the Italian articles. I can probably help you out in mid-May once I finish up some university related things. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:43, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I need help creating this image on the English Wiki from the Italian wiki here. I don't really know what to do, never created an image before. The Italian Wiki states the copyright expired; you can read more about it there (I think a little translate button should appear at the top of the page if you need help reading it...at least it does for me on Chrome). Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 14:19, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

I don't speak Italian and, worse, am not familiar with Italian copyright. If that image indeed is in the public domain, not just in Italy but also in the United States, you can upload it to the Wikimedia Commons via their Upload Wizard (you may need to download it from the Italian Wikipedia to your computer first, then re-upload it to the Commons). If it's not PD in the US, the English Wikipedia likely cannot make use of it. Huon (talk) 17:19, 19 May 2017 (UTC)

Your Technical move request

Regarding this request, I have declined it as a Requested move is already underway. An RM expires in 7 days after which an uninvolved editor may close the discussion and perform the move. Since you have already requested a RM, there was no point placing a request at Technical moves. Regards, Yashovardhan (talk) 18:21, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Thanks, I understand, I knew I should've waited till tomorrow. Do you suggest I re-post this request tomorrow if still no response, or would you be able to take care of it? Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 18:28, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
No don't repost anything. After your RM expires, any uninvolved editor (probably an admin or someone with the page mover rights) will move the page and close the RM after assessing the rationale. You see WP:RM is a backlogged area so reposting the same thing at two different places will only cause more trouble. Next time, if the move isn't controversial, you can directly request a technical move (without a requested move on the talk page). If controversial, request a requested move on the talk page only. Ping me if you've any other questions. Regards, Yashovardhan (talk) 19:59, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Yeah I think that was my first mistake doing the 7 day move option - should've gone straight to the technical request page because mine is uncontroversial with the sources I gave...I just didn't notice that request page until after the fact. As the nominator, and since there is no discussion, if it stays this way, I will withdraw my nomination. Then I will come back to the technical page request. There's no point staying in the backlog if there's no controversy or appetite for discussion. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 20:18, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
I'd suggest not to withdraw your nomination yet. Wait for a couple of days if your requested move is closed as moved, good enough. I'd have closed it tomorrow myself but I guess this discussion with you will make me slightly involved. Discussion actually depends on the number of editors watching the page and this, directly on the topic. You can advertise the RM at relevant wiki projects as well to generate more discussion. Yashovardhan (talk) 20:46, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Per Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions: "If the nominator wishes to withdraw a proposal about which no one has yet commented, or which is unanimously opposed. In this case, the nominator may close the discussion as "withdrawn"." I am going to withdraw and re-post at technical requests (I've requested page mover rights), but in the event I don't get it, this page should be moved ASAP. Italy vs. San Marino

First of all, you cannot erase or hide the fact that some players have been called up by the Italian senior national team for a friendly match against another senior national team. So, these players should at least be mentionned in the last called up player list, as I am doing now.

I don't know why this natch has not been reported in the calendar, but in Italy is will be treated as all the other matches, with live broadcast on national TV, etc.. Newspapers and Sport journalists tal about the first cap for all the young players that have been called up. On Wikipedia, this match is a fact, an information, that has to be reported.--93.35.183.231 (talk) 19:08, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Vaselineeeeeeee. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Swarm 21:45, 31 May 2017 (UTC)

@Swarm: Hi, and thanks. I have a question if you don't mind: With this user right, am I still not able to move a page where the target name has an existing page, because that would require deleting the redirect page to make way for the article taking that name? Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 13:46, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Hey, you can do that with this right. You just need to perform a round robin move. Read the instructions linked by Swarm carefully. Yashovardhan (talk) 15:31, 1 June 2017 (UTC) (talk page watcher)
@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Ah, I see, thanks. Is there any rule as to what you move the target page to, or do you make it up because you won't opt to create a redirect anyway? Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:42, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
See WP:SWAP and WP:PMR - there are very clear rules for this. You are better using a tool listed there which does this automatically for you. Yashovardhan (talk) 15:46, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
@Yashovardhan Dhanania: I saw WP:SWAP but it doesn't say what you should move the page to for what I can see. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:49, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Did you see WP:PMR#Round-robin page moves? Also, better use this tool while switching pages to make work easier. Yashovardhan (talk) 16:04, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Sorry! I was staring it right in the face and didn`t notice it at the page mover page; thanks for being patient with me! So convention is to move it to Draft:Move/ (page name). Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:11, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

Ya, and that's a temporary placeholder. After that, you will need to move it to the main page where its supposed to go. Yashovardhan (talk) 16:19, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Yeah exactly. Can you see if I put the code right, I don`t see any other "swap" option. User:Vaselineeeeeeee/common.js. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:21, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
You should see it under the more menu on the top right. I will check your common.js page... Wait for a moment. Yashovardhan (talk) 16:24, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
You got it all wrong. You need to import this script. The link was right under what you copied. Yashovardhan (talk) 16:26, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
@Yashovardhan Dhanania: Ok I see the option now, thanks. Is what I copied before needed? Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 16:32, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

Not needed... It just automatically check 'move subpages' when moving pages...Sort of a convenience thing. Yashovardhan (talk) 16:50, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

A page you moved

You might want to see this.. If you find any merit, undo the move and start a RM on the talk page. Regards, Yashovardhan (talk) 13:17, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

@Yashovardhan Dhanania: I saw the IP move it to contested technical moves after I've already moved the page. But honestly, there is no indication for on the talk page for it's contention, and the sources that are listed on the article as the nominator said, state the game is The floor is lava. I don't see a need to undo the move unless the IP discusses. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 13:41, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
EDIT: I see the IP is discussing, I will communicate with them, before another move. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 13:42, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
It's best to discuss if the IP is discussing. The best way forward may be to start an RM. If no consensus is reached there, the page move will have to be undone (policy). Your move was good otherwise and I will be glad if the IP can point reliable sources/policies to support his point. (The problems with a contested page move! I've faced so many issues while working at RM. It's just impossible to satisfy everyone :) Yashovardhan (talk) 16:45, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Problems

Dude, we have big problems. Apparently (I was completely unaware of this) it has become consensus now to remove the "Overall" and "Results summary" tables from season articles. The user who did so cited the fact that this information is already contained within other tables. While I could agree with that argument concerning the "Overall" table, at no other point in any of the tables is there a breakdown of home vs. away form, which I don't think is useless information. Interestingly, so far he's only edited the Sampdoria articles back to the 2014–15 season. What should we do? What can we do? Italia2006 (talk) 21:24, 16 June 2017 (UTC)

@Italia2006: I saw BletheringScott's talk page, Kante cited this discussion. Again, to me it doesn't really matter, but I guess they should be removed. At least I don't think many Italian season articles have these tables. I can check Juve, Lazio, Milan; you wanna do Roma, Fiorentina, etc? Also, 2017–18 Genoa C.F.C. season is the last Serie A season article to make, do you mind making it? Also, if you wanna work on some referees, give me a few names and I can look into it. Thanks. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:18, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
I agree with what you've said. And actually I was going to do the Genoa article earlier this week but forgot about it so that'll be up and running soon. As for the referees, let's not worry about that for now I think, I'd rather we have all the transfers listed for the articles because that seems to be the last remaining weak-point of the articles in general. Italia2006 (talk) 22:32, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
@Italia2006: Cool. Do you mean transfers listed from the 2016-17 season articles or from this upcoming season? 2016–17 A.C. ChievoVerona season is in really bad shape with a ton of matches not updated. I recently finished off the Palermo article, and checked the rest, and they're all updated (thanks for that)...but I don't think I have the will to finish off Chievo's too. No rush. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 22:41, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
No no, I meant for this upcoming season. I had a feeling the Chievo article was in bad shape, there was this user who used to update it but it looks like I'll have to step in (which I'm doing for the 2017–18 Chievo article anyway). No what I mean is, if you look at the 2017–18 Roma article and see how complete and detailed the "Transfers" section is, what I'm saying is that my goal is to have all of the season articles be that complete. Italia2006 (talk) 22:54, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
@Italia2006: Personally, I don't think the loan ins from the end of the season are necessary as there are many and most will leave to another club in a short time. I'm going to remove all the overalls and results summaries from all the 2017-18 articles to have a fresh start. The ones left over from before are there and aren't hurting anyone so I don't think it'll be necessary to go back that much. Also, when we create a new season article, I don't think it's good to leave the next season in the infobox (2018-19 in this case) unlinked, even though there would be a redlink now. This is because next season, we may forget to link them; this way it will already be done. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:12, 16 June 2017 (UTC)
I don't have any objections to the above, cheers. Italia2006 (talk) 03:03, 17 June 2017 (UTC)

Rethink

Hey dude, I just wanted to let you know I've been doing some thinking regarding the recent changes made, and I have to say I disagree with the removal of the "Results summary" tables. Now the argument that was made in favor of removal was that the information was contained in other tables, etc., in the article, correct? But if you really think about it, the Results summary table is a breakdown of home vs. away form and statistics related to that. This is information which is not contained in any other table in any of the articles, and I think home record vs. away record is extremely pertinent information, not just useless filler. I'm seriously thinking about arguing for its re-inclusion. I still have no objections to the removal of the "Overall" table, however. Italia2006 (talk) 19:22, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

@Italia2006: I can see how they say it's duplicated information since it's in the league table, but yes, it's slightly different because of the home and away. They'll probably argue it's not a significant difference in information, or information that particularly needs to be given, so to not include it. Again, it doesn't matter all that much to me. Maybe bring it up again at FOOTY and see what people have to say. I wouldn't argue for or against. Regards, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 23:00, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

@Italia2006: Thanks for adding them back on the 2017-18 articles. Thanks for commenting as well. I've done them now for Juve and Lazio seasons too. Hey, what do you think about this in the 2017–18 Juventus F.C. season article - in the transfers section (old state)? Do they belong even though they occurred last season? Pizza

That's great. Why didn't you do that in the first place? SlightSmile 17:47, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

@Slightsmile: haha I don't know. I think some people were complaining a while back because it's the same image in the infobox as Neapolitan pizza, but who really cares if that's the case? Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 17:48, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
That was my first choice but was already taken further down. Looks so yummie, doesn't it? SlightSmile 17:53, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
@Slightsmile: Yeah mhmhmm...I just took a pic from the Italian wiki. Have you really never seen arugala on pizza though?? I guess it's not vera (true) Neapolitan, but it looked the closest (other than using the one that is there now). :p Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 17:58, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
I went in there as a reader a few days ago to look up - get ready for this, if it's spelled with one or two z's. That image jumped right out at me - in a negative way. THAT is a pizza! Have you actually seen pizzas look like that in TO? SlightSmile 18:09, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
@Slightsmile: Wait, you went to Italian wiki to see if it's "piza" or "pizza"? Anyway, I don't know why the called it rucola, because it's just arugula! I mean TO doesn't really have a style itself, but I've seen pizzas with arugula (probably not as much as in that picture, and not usually my choice) usually with prosciutto, shaved Parmesan and/or a balsamic reduction (venturing away from Neapolitan). What do you see where you're from? Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 18:26, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
I went "there" into the English Pizza article, not the Italian one. There the lede image is the napoletana like (now) here. Where I live the it's mostly pepperoni and I don't like pepperoni. SlightSmile 18:49, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
I see the ambiguity. THAT is a pizza! as in "You call that (the rucola) a pizza". I do that sometimes. I say something and it comes out different of what I mean. SlightSmile 18:59, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
@Slightsmile: Really, where you located? They don't have any real pizza restaurants other than like Pizza Hut? Italian restaurants in Toronto or Woodbridge like this are authentic. I usually go for a Pizza capricciosa or Pizza quattro stagioni. Most of the Napoletana pizzas I've seen in TO have anchovies on them, which I like. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:02, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Yeah sure there's variety here. As often as not I'll go for mushroom pizza. But even the classy places now rarely see Neapolitan pizza which is the kind I like. Oh well. For pizza I order out more. When going out it might be more for Sichuan, or steak or maybe suchi. Or just a quick bite. SlightSmile 19:22, 11 July 2017 (UTC)

Inter Milan

Hi ! I don't speak English as my mother tongue and, until months ago, I used to write on Italian version; could you be a bit more accurate about the "bad" (for example: grammar mistakes, informations about Inter...) Thank you ! --Sean Ago (talk) 15:30, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

@Sean Ago: Ciao Sean! Please don't take my words too personally, I really commend you for trying, it's just that there's still some gaps in your English proficiency (I'm the same with my Italian). Let's take 2016–17 Inter Milan season as an example. "the Dutch manager barely spoke national language". You forget to insert "the" a lot. It should be "spoke the national language". "In another disappointing season, Inter confirmed the constants of recent years". Firstly, the sentence isn't in neutral point of view. "Constants of recent years" doesn't really make sense. I think I get what you're trying to say in that this season was similar to the last, but the wording is wrong. "by Pioli who sit on the bench for six months". It is supposed to be the past tense "sat". "dependence by the performances of singles". Again, I know what you're trying to say is "individuals", but "singles" isn't the right word at all. And there is a lot of POV too, even if it says it in the source, there's a way to tone it down a bit to make it more encyclopedic. "worst group stage of club's history", again insert "the" after "of". "too players bought without a positive feedback" doesn't make sense at all. maybe you mean, "too many players bought without a positive contribution", but again there's unnecessary POV. "fruitless policy of young (Bakayoko, Pinamonti, Gnoukouri, Miangue, Yao and Radu are almost never used" doesn't make sense. "It came out in a negative collage, resulting - for the third time in last 5 years - that Inter missed to reach UEFA competitions". Should be "in the last five years that Inter missed out on reaching UEFA competitions". As you can see, almost your whole addition has grammatical errors that would make reading it a struggle. To be frank, I would say that it's not good enough to be writing whole paragraphs into the English Wikipedia. I think I'll have to go back and review your additions and make the corrections. If you have any questions about if something is grammatically correct or not please let me know. Saluti, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 17:25, 28 July 2017 (UTC)

Collins Italian Dictionary translates "stem" with "stelo, gambo": what does it mean in the 2015–16 season, about the performances of individual players ? --Sean Ago (talk) 15:15, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
@Sean Ago: Yeah, it isn't a direct translation like a stem from a flower. Stem in this context basically means that it is "a result of" or "derived from". Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 15:18, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
@Sean Ago: Please avoid nicknames like Nerazzurri. Also numbers below 10 should be written in full, such as "six" or "eight". "Lackness" is not a word and neither is "Conquested". "Conquered" is, but "achieved" is better. And instead of saying "thanks to" say "due to". Do not refer to the club Inter as "his", they are not a person; use "they", "its" "the club" depending on the situation. Saluti, Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 19:00, 31 July 2017 (UTC)

Consistent vandalism on 2016–17 S.S.C. Napoli season

Can you do me a favor and request protection for this article? Every time I come back to it I have to revert vandalism, and I mean easily four or five times now. Italia2006 (talk) 19:29, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

@Italia2006: I don't think it'll get granted...seems pretty sporadic. And even if it did it would likely only get protected for 3 days. Anyone can request at WP:RFPP. If it continues it may need to be permanently protected. If it is also only one IP that is causing the vandalism you can report them at WP:AIV. Regards. Why Italian and Brazilian flags are bigger than Swiss one ? I'm talking about the flags listed in Squad section. --Sean Ago (talk) 17:20, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

@Sean Ago: That is how the Flag of Switzerland is officially shaped. Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 17:59, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
@Sean Ago: Also, I don't know if you use « to represent quotations in Europe, but in English we use ". Like he said "he didn't want to waste time". Vaselineeeeeeee★★★ 03:41, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
