Tixati

Hi, according to this article, Tixati is among the top 10 most popular P2P applications grouped by the file sharing applications category. A Google search for "best bittorrent client" reveals websites like Gizmos Freeware and Tom's Guide which talk about Tixati, and Lifehacker which mentions only Vuze and Tixati as an alternative to uTorrent. This makes me think that Tixati is actually quite popular. Do you think this is enough for it to be a page on this wiki? Squc (talk) 06:58, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

  • The thing is, most of that sort of thing is routine - just appearing on one of these lists isn't grounds for notability, and popularity is not the same thing as notability. Gizmo's Freeware is not a reliable source, for starters - it's not a bad one by any means, but it can't be used for notability. Tom's Guide is possible a reliable source, but again, it's a routine list of 10. Tixati is mentioned all of once in the PDF, and although it may be a reliable source, there's no evidence to back up its claim - and again, popularity and notability are not the same thing. Tixati is only mentioned very briefly in the Lifehacker source. There's still not enough there, I'm afraid. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 08:01, 14 July 2013 (UTC)

I invite you back to the discussion and request you reconsider your stance. The article's issues ARE addressable... and I plan to do the work later tonight. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 02:36, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks Luke. Sometimes I just get lucky with my google-foo. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:23, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
Agreed. I find the "Find sources" created by AFD template to be ofttimes problematic. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 09:32, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hi Lukeno94, I have granted rollback rights to your account in accordance with your request. Please be aware that rollback should be used to revert vandalism/spam/blatantly unconstructive edits, and that using it to revert any other type of edit - such as by revert-warring or reverting edits you disagree with - can lead to it being removed from your account...sometimes without any warning depending on the admin who becomes aware of any misuse. If you think an edit should require a reason for reverting, use a manual edit summary instead of using the rollback tool. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 15:03, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. Regards from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker. -- SuggestBot (talk) 23:47, 15 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi mate. Are you in the process of taking this bullsh*t to ANI? If not, I might post an urgent request for closure at AN. It's just getting silly. Stalwart111 09:19, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

  • I actually suspected as much, from your querying tone there. All good mate; I'll get on it and then we can consider other things beyond that. Cheers, Stalwart111 09:37, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
  • And we're   Done. Happy to help with an ANI case with regard to the paid editing and disruptive AFD conduct if you are so inclined. If you don't feel like a trip to the drama boards, your original suggestion of a WP:COIN thread may be in order. Stalwart111 10:50, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello! There is a DR/N request you may have interest in.

This message is being sent to let you know of a discussion at the Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute discussion you may have participated in. Content disputes can hold up article development and make editing difficult for editors. You are not required to participate, but you are both invited and encouraged to help find a resolution. The thread is "2012 Delhi gang rape case". Please join us to help form a consensus. Thank you! EarwigBot operator / talk 19:10, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

DRN discussion

  • Hey,
The best thing to do is to state our claims, and ignore. Unless something really needs answering, there is no point of doing anything remotely close to giving him any bit of attention. I trust the DRN volunteers to be stable headed enough to handle this situation, and help close it.
Regards,
TheOriginalSoni (talk) 21:43, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

A minor change to DRN

Hi there, you're getting this message as you are involved in a case at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard which is currently open. Today DRN has undergone a big move resulting in individual cases on subpages as opposed to all the content on one page. This is to inform you that your case is now back on the DRN board and you will be able to 'watch' the subpage it's located on. Thanks, Cabe6403 (TalkSign) 13:21, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

ANI, User:TransVannian

Former admin, Luke. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 01:05, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

An understandable error. It's hard to think of you otherwise.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:11, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
It wasn't meant as criticism, Bbb. Just a note, like a hairshirt. Drmies (talk) 01:29, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
  • In my eyes, Drmies, you're an admin without the tools :P In all seriousness, sorry for the error, I filed the report just before I went to bed. Interesting to see that TransVannian continues to try to drag my name through the mud in their unblock request... Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 06:17, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Just to clarify, I didn't think Drmies's comment was criticism; nor was my mine. I agree with Luke's comment about Drmies being an admin without the tools. Despite his use of the word "deftly" (thanks), I wasn't so keen on NAC; what about EAC (emeritus admin closure)? :-) An unblock request that attacks another editor is generally not a good idea. When the block was in part for attacking another editor, it's even worse.--Bbb23 (talk) 14:37, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Heh, Drmies is the highly sophisticated English prof. I just struggle, vainly, to keep up with him. Emeritus: "honorably retired from assigned duties and retaining your title along with the additional title 'emeritus' as in 'professor emeritus'" ([1]). Drmies, Administrator Emeritus.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:01, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
  • You need to archive this page, Luke, it's way too big and takes too long to save comments (my guess is it's all those tables). The size of your talk page is almost 10x the size of mine.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:05, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

AN case about Baboon43

I wish to inform you that a case has been filed at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard per consensus at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Baboon43. I am letting you know since you participated in the RFC/U. MezzoMezzo (talk) 06:10, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Aligarh Muslim University

Well I cannot grasp this edit. User:TheRedPenOfDoom ought to wait to get the RfC closed before removing it, this is my rationale for restoring it. Can you get the RfC closed by someone else? Because I see your comment there too. Or will a fresh RfC work? Any thoughts? Faizan 12:02, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

  • If TRPOD's edit was as bad as you claim, then in the THREE months it was out of the article, someone would've reinstated it. At the end of the day, the information is a duplicate from the other article; that's an indisputable fact. The only thing that might be worth including is "X number of presidents" and "Y number of prime ministers" in that section. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 12:32, 21 July 2013 (UTC)
I am going for an RfC, thanks. Would like to see your participation there too. Faizan 06:13, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Sidecarcross disambig stuff

No, thank you for pointing it out to me. Nowadays the disambiguation bot would pick this up almost straight away but back then it went unnoticed till you did your bit. I'm happy to fix it, where I can, after all I created the pages with links to disambiguation pages. Thanks, Calistemon (talk) 18:53, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

  • I got bored, so I decided to do some gnoming that needed doing. There's plenty that I've tagged as not knowing what they are; some others I've probably messed up. Feel free, Calistemon (or any talk-page stalkers I may have) to go and clean up anything I've done :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 18:56, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Warren Hughes

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I am glad to be reviewing the article Warren Hughes you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by GA bot, on behalf of The Rambling Man -- The Rambling Man (talk) 15:38, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Warren Hughes

The article Warren Hughes you nominated as a good article has failed  ; see Talk:Warren Hughes for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:12, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Juan Manuel López

Thanks a lot! The article seems very complete (more than I usually do). I tried to improve the introduction, and added two databases. Good luck! --NaBUru38 (talk) 18:34, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Not a problem, NaBUru38. It's no surprise that the article was deleted before; the article was only showing little glimpses of notability (although it was definitely established, albeit without proper referencing) and most people aren't inclined to try slightly more unique searches than just the guy's name. Regardless of that, I don't believe in releasing a half-arsed article; I can safely say I only have done that once, and that was simply because I had no idea what else I could add without voyaging into OR territory. Also, thanks for further improving the article - I'm not sure where you got ninth from for the 2012 International GT Open though? Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 19:20, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
There are two ways to count places in standings. One way is to say "López was 9th because 8 drivers scored more points" (as in golf). The other is "López was 5th because Leo and Bruni tied for 1st, Tandy and Holzer for 2nd, Barba and Malucelli for 3rd, and Giammaria and Ramos for 4th".
If you check the official website, here you see that López was ranked 5th in 2011 and 5th in 2012. Ties were separated in 2011 but grouped in 2012.
As far as I know, the most usual and reasonable ranking method is the first, so that's what articles should say. I'll post this at the WikiProject Motorsport, ok? --NaBUru38 (talk) 19:30, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
  • I don't have an issue with checking, because, in fact, it's a problem for pretty much all the endurance racing-related articles of this type; there's a huge amount of inconsistency across all of them, and indeed, across sources as well. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 19:39, 23 July 2013 (UTC)

Royston Drenthe article

Some the changes you made to the Royston Drenthe article are incorrect. Drenthe made 46 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid and 17 for Hercules, for a total of 63 La Liga appearances Source: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/royston-drenthe/leistungsdaten/spieler_35631_gesamt.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tom Collingsworth (talkcontribs) 00:23, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

  • If you look carefully, you'll see that I've deliberately not listed the word "league" in his appearances for Real Madrid, Tom; that's because it is the total number he made. However, I had originally messed up and written 19, getting confused with the loan spell below it - I only found that out after reverting some IP-based vandalism, and then realizing that one of the edits was right. Introduction and infobox for Ping Fu article

Hi Luke, it's been a little while since anyone weighed in on the discussion on the Ping Fu Talk page about updating the infobox and introduction. Based on your earlier positive review of the suggested updates and Larry's recent approval of the new 3D Systems source showing (absolutely and definitively!) that Ping Fu is a VP at the company, would you be comfortable updating the article with my proposed versions?

I've gone ahead and updated the suggested infobox (and markup) on the Talk page, so if you do grab the markup, the new 3D Systems source has already been added in. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 00:34, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

NPA

Please don't say things like "...makes you look even more silly..." It just escalates things. You've been around for a while, so you should know better. The last thing we want is an escalating back and forth argument. Please just keep it about the edits. Thanks, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:24, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

  • I deliberately phrased it in a NPA-compliant way. There is an SPI open against these IPs and that account, and Waterspaces has been around, and socking, for even longer than I have been editing. I do appreciate your advice though - just letting you know where I stand :) Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 11:25, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Cheers. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:43, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
You were right. :) Oh, well. I had to assume good faith. You now have one more person watchlisting the articles. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:20, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
  • Some sockmasters are incredibly obvious when you've seen them once; this is one of them. :) I'm not criticizing your position at all - it was entirely correct given the fact you were unfamiliar with the master. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 06:37, 26 July 2013 (UTC)
