Hello, welcome to my talk page!

If you want to leave a message, please do it at the bottom, as a new section, for better formatting. You can do that by simply pressing the plus sign (+) or "new section" on the top of this page. And don't forget to sign your messages with four tildes, like this: ~~~~

Attention: I prefer to keep discussions unfragmented. If you leave a comment for me here, I will most likely respond to it on this same page—my talk page—as an effort to keep the entire conversation in one place. By the same token, if I leave a comment on your talk page, please respond to it there. Remember, we can use our watchlist and topic subscriptions to keep track of when responses are made. At the same time, feel free to send an alert to me on this page about a comment you have left elsewhere.

Thank you!

A lengthy welcome

edit

Hi Uttarpradeshi. Welcome to Wikipedia. I've added a welcome message to the top of this page that gives a great deal of information about Wikipedia. I hope you find it useful.

Additionally, I hope you don't mind if I share some of my thoughts on starting out as a new editor on Wikipedia: If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily in collaboration.

Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's Biographies of living persons policy requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.

If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's Conflict of interest policy, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter. Regardless, editing in a manner that promotes an entity or viewpoint over others can appear to be detrimental to the purpose of Wikipedia and the neutrality required in articles.

Some topic areas within Wikipedia have special editing restrictions that apply to all editors. It's best to avoid these topics until you are extremely familiar with all relevant policies and guidelines.

If you work from reliable, independent sources, you shouldn't go far wrong. WP:RSP and WP:RSN are helpful in determining if a source is reliable.

If you find yourself in a disagreement with another editor, it's best to discuss the matter on the relevant talk page.

I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --Hipal (talk) 20:12, 7 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mumbai (disambiguation)

edit

Please note that disambiguation pages like Mumbai (disambiguation) are meant to help readers find a specific existing article quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From the Wikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'ts you should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ("blue link") in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Thank you. Leschnei (talk) 23:21, 8 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Deogarh Fort, Madhya Pradesh, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Deogarh and Devgarh. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:58, 10 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

ARBIPA sanctions alert

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Help

edit

Uttarpradeshi I have seen that you have made a new category, Category:Transport in Ayodhya. thanks for your help, now please can you make more similar categories for Ayodhya, like we have for faizabad see Category:Faizabad, actually i dont know how to make them, please if you can, it would be great. Hindu108 (talk) 12:33, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Hindu108, no i can't make more categories, i made this category per consensus on Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. but if you want to make more categories,i am not the right person to contact, i don't have much idea about wikipedia policy on making new category, so i think simplest way to do this without violating any policy is that you ask Oculi, by reading this user's arguments on Wikipedia:Categories for discussion, i feel that this user is a senior editor here, so this user might have knowledge of policies and this user might help you. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 12:45, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Uttarpradeshi ok, thanks Hindu108 (talk) 12:50, 12 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Closing a move discussion

edit

I had started a move discussion on Faizabad division page, it has completed its 7 days time period, i want someone to close this move request and also there are some other move request where i am not involved so i want to close them but i dont know the procedure, could anyone tell me the procedure, i have already read that closing instruction page, but i didn't understand much so if anyone could tell me the procedure here, it would be great. thank you. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 09:34, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi. It doesn't seem to have a clear consensus, and a user has requested waiting until a sock puppet investigation is complete. By the way, please remember indent your replies to make the conversation flow clearer. Thank you. — LauritzT (talk) 10:07, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Closing a move discussion

edit

There is another move request initiated by me, at Ravi Shankar (spiritual leader) please close this, and also tell me the procedure as i mentioned above. Uttarpradeshi (talk) 10:19, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Again, there doesn't seem to be a clear consensus. The template instructions state that the discussion may be closed 7 days after being opened, if consensus has been reached (emphasis mine). Also, it's only been 4 hours. Please be patient. — LauritzT (talk) 10:32, 14 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
