Please explain non-obvious reverts

An edit you reverted, appeared to have been made in good faith. You reverted it without explanation. I suppose you figured that the original editor knew why you reverted, but no one else did. So other editors would have to go looking for you reason. I found it (blocked user), but why make me - and every other curious editor - work so hard? In the future, please take a few seconds to provide a substantive edit summary when you revert. See Wikipedia:Don't revert without explanation#Sources for more reasons for this request. - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 16:10, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

I find it strange you're asking me to present information when this is the same case by the IP editor: Special:Diff/1165878759/1165879717. WP:ONUS might be on me but this took a matter of 5 minutes to find out. Also, I find it rather hilarious to link to an essay you contributed to. (You need to add an anchor if you want #Sources to go somewhere.) – The Grid (talk) 14:42, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. If I understand you correctly, it took you five minutes to figure out that "this is the same case by the IP editor: Special:Diff/1165878759/1165879717," Thank you for taking the time to do that. Once you had done that, I suggest, it would have been a courtesy to other edtiors to share that information in your edit summary. - Butwhatdoiknow (talk) 15:23, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

Minor edit; unsourced

Hello. You've been here for two decades so I'm surprised you marked this as a minor edit when it's not per Help:Minor edit. Your edit added contentious unsourced material—some supposed physical double A-side single release is not supported by that source. If you re-add it to the article, please provide a non-WP:AFFILIATE source for this upcoming physical release. Thanks. Ss112 15:29, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

The information about the double A single comes straight from their manager here but I could have sworn the pre-order included the single. That's at least why I marked it as minor in my thought process here... but at least I'm not losing my mind completely here 😁 – The Grid (talk) 15:45, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
Regarding this revert, I deliberately did not cite the liner notes because it doesn't need citation per MOS:ALBUM: "the liner notes do not need explicit citation in most cases". This is not some special case that warrants citation—it is expected per that style guide saying so that things like samples are taken from the notes; we don't need to actually include the citation. (To let you know as it appears you don't, using Template:Cite AV media notes without an author= parameter produces a maintenance error.) Also, please don't change citation styles by inserting spaces where they were not previously (I don't use spaces in citations I add), and please retain the "Notes" subheading as it is distinguishes the track list from extant information like samples and producer notes (if applicable). This subheading has widespread precedent on album articles. Again, you have also tagged something that is not a minor edit (adding a whole citation of 100+ bytes is not a minor edit), so please don't mark it as such—as above, it's not one per Help:Minor edit. Ss112 11:20, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
I don't get you. Out of the articles I have edited in the past few years, there's always some revert from you on something minor on a technical aspect. From what I can remember: adding a source that is a press release (it's not obvious unless you are familiar with NDA embargo and then see when other sources are released with similar wording), an album not notable even through it charted, now a citation style because you're going to claim making the article when a lot of times you revert other people's initial edits to albums? and even about a minor edit twice? Give me a break. I mark my edits as minor when it's not adding content which is supported by the help page.
I know this isn't personal but I think these can be mentioned better with the edit summaries. I think I have seen improvement in the years but it's been odd pushback. – The Grid (talk) 22:54, 4 February 2024 (UTC)

MOS:NAVBOXCOLOR

Hi @The Grid. I responded to your message on my talk page. If you look through my messages, I actually did engage with feedback. Iiii I I provided some feedback on the accessibility of an earlier draft. I listened to their concerns, and toggled around to see what would be the best color coordination for this new template style for Florida related Navboxes, that would balance out a fresh color scheme that was inclusive to all readers. Unfortunately, there were some editors that did not engage in any good faith, and went ahead and went rogue on those edits (which were pretty time consuming, I might add). That was what I was referencing earlier, when I brought up the policy of please don't edit war over the color of Navigation boxes and Manual of Style/Accessibility (Color).
Now, you may not personally like the Orange coloring, and that is perfectly fine. But that is just an opinion. In the same way that, I personally think the color orange actually compliments Florid Navboxes pretty well, considering the state's most associated fruit is an Orange. It is not without precedent for regional related navigation boxes to have color templates besides the base color palettes (please see these examples: Western United States, California, Washington (state), Vermont, etc). Once again, I am open to good faith feedback, but I just don't appreciate when someone chooses to not engage with me first.

Freeholdman12 (talk) 01:03, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

  1. The status quo has been fine for years for the Florida navboxes. Discussion could have been brought up on the talk pages for the Florida WikiProject or the portal you also tried to edit. It's water under the bridge anyways.
  2. If you saw that editing the templates were a time sink, wouldn't you think there's a risk of implementing all of those changes in one go? There's ways to automate such edits but think past the time consumption. There's a lot of ways to do things on here by working smarter, not harder. We also have sandboxes for templates to provide a preview before implementing such things. It's a learning curve but you won't get burnt out with such changes. That's something that can still can be done now and I get the frustration.
  3. The color choices for Florida honestly are lacking. The portal used to be red for the Seminoles which didn't jive as well until the portals got unified better for formatting. As much as orange might be a logic step for Florida, I think the harder part is getting a secondary color involved that mixes well with orange. Any thoughts?
The Grid (talk) 16:01, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Hey, I appreciate the good faith feedback! I agree, that Orange is a logical choice, but we can come to some kind of an agreement of a color coordinations that provide a nice contrast that looks more appealing to a mass amount of people.
I was looking online, and I found these two sites that offer some pretty interesting ideas, particularly as a nice contrast for Orange: https://webflow.com/blog/best-color-combinations and https://looka.com/blog/color-combinations/. I personally like the combination of vermillion and citrus yellow, that is cited in the second link. Let me know what you think. Thanks you. Freeholdman12 (talk) 22:29, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
