Disambiguation link notification for August 4 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of Victorious episodes, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Dan Schneider and Cat Valentine. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of Settlers Way Elementary School edit

The article Settlers Way Elementary School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Elementary schools are rarely notable. Newer ones even more so.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Los Americans edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Los Americans requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://latinola.com/story.php?story=9562. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Copyright issues edit

I've deleted the page because ultimately it had two issues: it had copyright issues and it was also promotional in tone. The copyright issues were the bigger of the two problems, although I will warn you that promotional tones are fairly serious as well.

The issue with copyright is that Wikipedia cannot take material that has been posted elsewhere, as copyright is automatically assumed in all situations except where the content/site is clearly labeled as being fair use. If you are the copyright holder (and it sounds like you either are or know the person who is) then you can file a ticket through WP:ORTS giving permission, but this would not solve all of the issues. The unsaid thing about copyrights is that most of the material is usually written in a fashion that is too promotional for Wikipedia. This is because the original text was likely used on someplace/something used to promote the given topic. That's perfectly fine elsewhere and even recommended, but it's not really OK for Wikipedia. Even if you were to give Wikipedia permission to use the material, it'd still need to be re-written in a neutral, encyclopedic tone.

I also have to ask: do you have a conflict of interest? If this is the case, then you need to look over the COI guidelines and also disclose this on your userpage. I also need to express a little bit of caution over something you wrote on the talk page: "WE can change and explain more with directors approbals..." This gives off the impression that you can only re-write things with your director's approval, but I need to caution you that there is no WP:OWNERSHIP of pages and when/if a page is posted in the mainspace, it can be edited by anyone. Aside from something violating a guideline (WP:NPOV, WP:ADVERT, WP:RS, and so on), anything can be added or removed from an entry. The director does not have any control over a page on Wikipedia, as this is the site that anyone can edit and it's not like LinkedIn or other sites where you have control over the page's contents. I don't mean that to sound harsh, just that I want to make sure that you're aware of this before you start on a new draft. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:37, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of Equation of Love edit

Hello Texancool,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Equation of Love for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is significant enough to be included in an encyclopedia, and the artist doesn't have an article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Ueutyi (talk) 05:15, 12 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

JC Gonzalez article edit

There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

  • You have chosen not to participate in that discussion. That's fine, you don't have to. In the meantime, though, the article you wrote is likely going to be deleted, and you need to realize that sticking a GA star on it was a bad move. I also just deleted that Equation of Love article, as promotional. If all you're doing here is promoting this one person, I foresee a relatively short career here.
