Reverts edit

Thanks - for info 3RR does not apply to vandalism and I had clicked on "report" after the last revert but I guess you were there before me. --Nigel (Talk) 12:38, 15 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wow - all I can say was when I first started a bit of vandal stuff I panicked but was told by someone somewhere that 3RR didn't apply. Looking at the page again I guess it is that "grey" area. All in all I think I'd probably let my edit record be looked at by anyone and take it from there but thanks for the comment - hope you have a good weekend - cheers --Nigel (Talk) 07:03, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

September Esperanza Newsletter edit

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
 3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!

You mentioned the "Cute 1 4 U" incident. What was that? I'm just wondering, I don't have a need to know. I actually had seen this user, my spider-sense started tingling (real 11 year olds don't use IDs like that, I don't think), but her link to her MySpace page checked out, so I figured whatever and left it alone. Dole edit

Quite so, it's best to be civil whenever possible. Nonetheless, I think in a case like this- where the offence was blatant- fairly short shrift is merited. I note that the individual concerned has gone on to subsequently repeatedly vandalise the article and has now been blocked as a vandal. I didn't really think it was a case of pejorative name-calling- rather a simple and apt description. It is not a question of familiarity with Wikipedia policy- it is a question of common sense. However, thanks for your advice, I shall take it on board, although hopefully I already have a fairly good idea what I'm doing. Badgerpatrol 14:49, 27 September 2006 (UTC) Reply

Hey, Srose. Are you not bothered by the complete lack of encyclopedia building done by users like Amrykidcount? I'm not talking about a lack of featured articles or anything, more a lack of any kind of mainspace activity at all. -- Steel 15:24, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the 3rd opinion. (While waiting, I went and provided a 3rd opinion on another topic. Seemed only fair.)

Apparently 'Dan' doesn't like your opinion and has re-deleted the text. He suggested I create a biased article to move the text to. Help and ideas needed edit

Hi,

Remember me ;) ? Sorry you've been spammed, but I hope you'll find for a good reason because I'm currently looking for help with a new project. I would like to harmonise all the warnings and templates we issue, with goal to creating a standard look, format and content to the messages. Even if you use VP, VS or any of the other vandal tools out there, I still feel this is worthwhile. Please visit here for further information, and leave me a message if you're interested, or tell me to get lost ;) if you haven't the time. Regards Khukri (talk . contribs) 13:37, 20 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Lieutenant Rose,

You recently said you were willing to help with the user message and template harmonistion program. We will be starting the actual changes, we hope within the next week. But prior to that, what we would like from yourself is instead of an evening of vandal fighting or patrolling recent changes, you monitor the RC page for those actually doing the reverts and leaving user page messages. We would like to make as many people aware of the fact that the templates they use are going to change. If you could seek out the RCP's and Cut n Paste the following message to their talk page that would be appreciated, or reworded as you see fit. Cheers lass. Khukri (talk . contribs) 09:09, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Upcoming template changes
Hi, I've just noticed that you recently left a templated userpage message. I'm just bringing to your attention that the format and context of these templates will be shortly changing. It is recommended that you visit WikiProject user warnings and harmonisation discussion pages to find out how these changes could affect the templates you use. We also would appreciate any insights or thoughts you may have on the subject. Thanks for your understanding. Best regards ~~~~

There had been several back-and-forths between myself and this user (who, by the way, had a different Userid at the time. Take a look at his Talk page, he's copied the other Talk page over, thus losing the history and violating GFDL). He was being what I consider purposely obtuse. I was frustrated with trying to drag out of him what it was that he was trying to do. So, you don't like my comments to him. Should I grovel at your feet? November Esperanza Newsletter edit

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
 • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
 • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
 • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
 • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

I wasn't going to send thank-you cards, but the emotional impact of hitting WP:100 (and doing so unanimously!) changed my mind. yes, there's already one thing. i don't think, that the part of the preambule in constitution needs a citation, as the text is a copy-paste from preambule of the constitution —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sorent (talkcontribs)

 • Thanks... I think I messed something up when I used the word count tool in Microsoft Word. I've seen that Website... unfortunately it's almost identical to another source I used. I'm going to try a search under several different, less frequently used common names, though. :) Srose (talk) 17:57, 16 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

It looks like the deletion police are trying to circumvent a previous AFD again. See Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:List of media personalities who have vandalised Wikipedia. As you voted keep, could you cast your vote again? - Ta bu shi da yu 23:09, 21 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hiya Srose. User:Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington rolled back my message, I'm afraid, so I rolled back again. I'm not sure if you would have caught my message, however on the off chance you didn't I put it back again. Sorry if this causes any disruption or annoyance! If you get a chance, could you make a comment of the MFD? Thanks! - Ta bu shi da yu 11:26, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I never "voted" keep - or delete - in the prior AFD. I merely commented that vandalised may be spelled with an "s" or a "z." As the MFD has now closed, I will not be participating. Srose (talk) 15:50, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I still thought you might want to contribute. I call it voting, even though it's not "voting" in the normal sense. Apologies if I annoyed or upset you in any way! - Ta bu shi da yu 16:03, 23 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

March days edit

What's your opinion on adding this? since the whole article is made to attack Armenians, other sources state otherwise.

"The brutalities continued for weeks. No quarter was given by either side: neither age nor sex was respected. Enormous crowds roamed the streets, burning houses, killing every passer-by who was identified as an enemy, many innocent persons suffering death at the hands of both the Armenians and Azerbaijan's. The struggle which had begun as a political contest between the Masvat and the Soviet assumed the characters of a gigantic race riot."

Source: The Armenia-Azerbaijan Conflict: Causes and Implications By Michael P. Croissant - Page 14 Nareklm 00:32, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

 • It looks good by all means; it's cited and certainly NPOV, reflecting the atrocities committed against both sides. :) You may not need to add the whole thing, of course, just so that facts are not repeated too much. Srose (talk) 00:43, 27 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I noticed theres already this, "The brutalities continued on for weeks. Enormous crowds roamed the streets, burning houses, killing every passer-by who was identified as an enemy. The Armenian archbishop Bagrat wrote a letter to the Armenian mission in Baku, explaining the March Events. The letter began with the usual accusations that the Azerbaijanis, being the disciples of the Turks and the Germans, could not be trusted. Having thus disposed of the Azerbaijani version of the events, Bagrat stated that the battle was waged by the Musavat and the Soviet, while the Armenians remained neutral." but since its just smushed in there i can add mine instead since this one does not have citations. Need help on a page you previously mediated edit

You previously mediated the March Days page 5, to a successful version. Yet User:Aivazovsky came few weeks later and removed the whole page, and one of the users with whom the mediation was carried out User:Nareklm (now User:Artaxiad), supported this removal. The page is now reverted, although it's in the middle of conflict and ArbCom case 6. Please, assist us on the March Days to protect the mediated version from further edits. I repeatedly appealed to the user to contribute to talk page before making such major edits, but my calls have so far been ignored by User:Aivazovsky and User:Artaxiad. Thanks a lot in advance. History of WikiProject Estonia edit

Hello,

I notice you haven't been active on WP for a long while, but hopoefully you'll check here every now and then.

In your editor review I noticed that you've said about WikiProject Estonia: "Yes, that WikiProject turned out to be embarrassing! In all fairness, though, I wasn't aware of Striver's track record. Since learning of it I've changed my 'vote'. It seemed like a Project focusing on a conspiracy theory, but now that I've looked at it more closely, I share everyone else's concerns."

As I was not participating in WikiProject Estonia then - and not that active in Wikipedia, too - could you please enlighten me why it turned out to be embarrassing - and what happened with Striver (talk · contribs)? You may not be aware, but recently WikiProject Estonia has become at least semi-active again - with quite a lot of new editors. It isn't, perhaps, as good WikiProject as it could be, but at least it is no longer dead. Sander Säde 06:42, 10 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I remember how you helped me a lot in my early days. Well, I have a few questions worth asking.

 1. How would you like to join this Wikiproject?
 2. What do you think is a good job for me?

Please reply on my talk page. Thanks! Laleenatalk to me contributions to Wikipedia 11:53, 28 July 2007 (UTC) Reply
