Text massage needed
Dude - I've given good ol' Andre a bit of a text-massage but feel he needs more of a good going over - I've put out an SOS for Circeus who's one of the best text massagers I've seen. Your writing is a bit clausey and I've done some tweaking but am worried it could get shredded at FAC (but I may be paranoid - not sure as I am not too familiar with bio stuff in terms of prose - recent FA William Shakespeare had some great prose to compare.

Good work here. I gave the article a copyedit, though the people at FAC might find more stuff to pick at. My main issues are summarize at Talk:André Kertész/Comments. The lead and coverage of his actual artistic work are the two parts especially need work. Circeus 19:20, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I like collaborations...I'm trying to clear a few things I've worked on for a while..lion is on its way and loads of folk have gotten involved...a real love-fest..need to get some stuff on lions in zoos and lion-baiting/taming...if you see anything in a library that'd be cool. Then there's Red-tailed Black Cockatoo which I'm frustrated with as there's about 2 facts it really needs which I can't just get online...I've always liked Astronomy and thought Alpha Centauri or the Andromeda galaxy would be really cool to work up. - I'll post my own somewhere - My preferance would be core topics which are generally easier to expand (For example, I found just now that Habitat is in woeful condition! That'd be easy to exapnd to at least a GA. And I saw that you had leopard on your list, so I remembered an article I worked on a while ago, Snow Leopard, which is also in need of attention - I have that "Planet Earth" DVD by the BBC which has a piece on the snow leopard, but I don't know how to cite an educational DVD. Short ones are really good to expand to rack up a few DYKS with...Circeus is great at copyediting and kick-starting stalled thingies with some good suggestions. OK - one final thing with the Hungarian photographer guy - is there anything about what the books Enfants, Paris, our chums the animals and the other one were actually about? Even just one-liners like "series of photos of cute animals/streets of paris/etc" would be extremely helpful. - What he's getting at (I think) is some critique or commentary on AKs work. I thought the same but was happy with the embellishment which you provided. I think he wants more. It would be ideal to get some critique or commentary if there was any but there is no reference to it online at all which is a total pain in the neck...and given he's held in high regard I'm not sure there'll be much if any anyway. If there is none, we can't make any -that's be OR...I'll be going back to the uni library sometime soon in the next week or so so I will see if I can find anything. Don't sweat it. If the worst comes to the worst and the FA ends, we know it's not too far off, we just have to find hte material and renominate. The best thing to knock lion on the head is some frigging references to zoos (in captivty subsection) - all the stuff online is pretty vague and I have a few isolated bytes of info I really need some extra oomph to synthesize inta something good. - I do like blue but the thing that's a real headache is the OR bit; as I look over the page I am worried that it could be contstrued as OR unless there's a relevant book with lots of twee references on it. I was ruminating over Snow Leopard but doesn't grab me hugely as I'm a little felined out at the mo'...I like oak but was musing on something more southern hemisphere-y. Something I have a book on I am thinking would be cool too. - I'm sure there's a children's colour book out there with refs. ;) Snow leopard can wait, but you'd have to agree it's not the best. As for the rest - don't be so picky. Don't Australian's have libraries out there? Seeing as my list has lots of stuff which isn't Australian (Shock awe - even a New Zealand article!) I'm sure you'll get a chance to go find one of these "library" things. ;) Seriously though, I might get bored editing bliming ozzie articles all the time. I noticed the Food and drink section is pretty thin, as is the mythology section. This is why I mused on pork (yum) and Agaricus bisporus which is the common everyday daggy mushroom. I have access to loads of cookery and food books so refs are a pushover if there's anythiong gastronomic yer interested in. Beer · Coca-Cola · Kashrut · Single malt Scotch · Tea are all former food featured articles, though none of these grab me overtly.

- More on spiders - agree about text - I stand chastised. Also - agree that vampire has got lots of rubbish - the closer I looked the more i realised it was gonna need an overhaul. Anyway, I have a reference book so can cite everything once done. I also note vampire had some issues as people argued about whether/how much modern stuff should be in it. I'd favour more as that is more in line with the perception of what a vampire is. Been AFK most of teh afternoon. Also spring cleaning and found a werewolf book too...(hehehe)

- Re noms - generally there'll be one of us who does the brunt of any given article, so we can play chief and indian alternately - you take charge with vampire then I will with the next one etc.
Re: Vampire
Yeah, I didn't notice the talk page note until after I'd already made my edit, and that was in large part because things about New England getting messed up/misspelled/misgeographied (Yes, that is now a word.) is a minor pet peeve of mine -- it just happens way too frequently, and I find it particularly stupid, especially considering the people I most often see getting things wrong. That aside, it's good to see someone's finally taking the article under their wing to fix it up, it desperately needs it. I'd offer to help, but I don't know that I'll have enough time for a good long while, so having people rely on me for much probably wouldn't be a good idea. Good luck, though, and I'll continue the quick and easy work of reverting vandalism if/when it occurs while you're working on dealing with the big stuff. -Bbik★ 08:18, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- The good thing is there are no equivalent FAs in the corresponding section Religion, mysticism and mythology so we have some free reign about headings etc. The previous version was extremely listy with no real overall structure which I can see evolving here - eg - intro, then etymology, then Common traits in folklore within folk beliefs which is equivalent to a description section really and then moving into chronological sections and presumably a section on porphyria or possible explanations etc with movies/literature/films towards the end...(?) cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 10:22, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding the folklore section - was trying to synthesise a sentence or two on how our popualr (film etc.) is really a selection of more common traits from a myriad of tales. Really cunning idea

- Hi Spawn. Sorry you got involved in this. This anon and I have been arguing since mid-February about various issues relating to Franz Liszt and Sigismond Thalberg. Nasty things have been said on both sides, but the difference is that I acknowledge my indiscretions while he persists in claiming that only I am guilty of any offenses. He is apparently offended that I have friends and colleagues here, as he has frequently criticized me for the actions of my colleagues, hence his reference to me as a "social editor." He is incorrect that I want to become an admin--I considered it a few months ago but decided against it for the time being. This whole thing is a long and unpleasant story. K. As for me, I've mostly been cleaning up annoying spelling errors on Wikipedia. There are at least 10,000 articles which mistake it's for its. - Lol, I never knew Jimbo wrote articles. Personally, I think he should just stay out of the project altogether - everytime he's in a discussion people either take his words as gospel or oppose him because they don't think his words should be taken as gospel. He can't win so I think he should just stay away from the project - it's running well on its own and he's done the hard yards, we can do the rest. Smooth coarea formula
I'm puzzled as to why you nominated smooth coarea formula for deletion. It does tell the lay reader in the first three words that mathematics is what it is about, and your proposed reasons for deletion would seem to apply equally to virtually any of the articles listed at---for example---List of mathematics articles (E). Re: your comment, you had previously said, "we shouldn't be arguing whether or not it is offensive until Gracenotes comments". If you wanted to wait "until Gracenotes comments", then why did you bring it to WP:AN before he commented? You seemed to be contradicting your own action. I don't know about the other two times you were scorned at WP:AN but this time it seems like you put the cart before the horse. If a comment appears insulting to any editor X but you're not sure, and X is an active editor, then point it out to X and let X come to WP:AN. An apology
I am deeply sorry that I offended you, that was never my intention. As a sort of excuse, I've had a splitting headache all day long and are probably coming down with a flu, so I have been rather cranky. I did not mean you to be a "Soviet supporter", but as you probably are not aware, Eastern European and Baltic editors have been harassed for a long time by group of pro-Soviets. They are staying mostly within Wikipedia rules with tagging articles, RfC's that don't lead anywhere, AN/I reports, revert warring, baseless accusations and attacks, checkuser cases etc. Probably twenty or more editors have been driven away like that during last year, Balcer (talk · contribs) being their latest victim so far - you can get more information about that him and that group from administrator Piotrus (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA). -- Sander Säde 16:03, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Order of headings on Vampire
Incidentally, are you happy with the order of headings and subheadings on vampire? Shall I put those on werewolf the same way yet or hold off a bit? - Actually..maybe holding off on a choice may be prudent until we see how big vampire gets. I thought wight/wraith etc. maybe too small, and vamp would be a good size, but it may get really big. odd clause?
Hi. the "which hindered prose ..." clause here:"In the early years of his lengthy career, his then-unorthodox camera angles, which hindered prose descriptions of his works, and his unwillingness to compromise his personal photographic style prevented his work from gaining wider recognition.
What does it mean? Why should a camera angle of any sort make "prose descriptions" (you mean "verbal descriptions"?) difficult? Why would you want to describe his work in prose in the first place, or if you did, why should such a mode be privileged by such prominence in the article. Artists usually hate paraphrasing/description of their work.

Banner removed
The "You have new messages" banner has been removed from the top of your page as it leads to people getting false messages. GDonato (talk) 21:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please do not vandalise my talk page, even if it was well intentioned. :) I am well aware of the guidelines in regard to fake message bars - they were under the section Wikipedia:User_page#Simulated_MediaWiki_interfaces of the user page guidelines. This section however, has been removed. In any case, the original text there stated that they were "discouraged" not illegal to have. The bar provides a link to my user boxes which wouldn't see the light of day other wise and I like the colour. :) The only other reason is that it supposedly wastes other's time and it's against other's personal taste. If I'm at an RfA, I'll remove it, but seeing as how I don't plan to run for adminship any time soon, I'm quite happy leaving it where it is. If you read the user page guidelines, it also states that one should discuss a user page issue with the editor before deleting any material - however both times someone's deleted the user box, they've deleted before noting it to me (The last guy didn't tell me until I replaced the user box). Also in the guidelines it says that user page parts should only be deleted after community consensus; although I've had people say they hate the message bar (Some even emailing me stating they won't post on a talk page which has one - which is kinda silly really), I've also had people say they like the message bar and either want it on their page or want to say how cool it is. I know the guidelines - I'd like to see the official proof that says I'm not ever allowed to have one on my user page. Maybe if people followed the guidelines they preach and discussed things over with me before deleting, maybe I'd be more receptive. I didn't realize that there was already a thread on here about it, or I would have just rolled my eyes and let it alone. - One person restoring a guideline (which ≠ policy by the way) for a personal agenda does not make a message bar illegal. I myself do not personally agree with Spawn Man's message bar, but I would not remove a part of his user page or talk header, unless it said something like "I HATE BLACK PEOPLE" or "HELP ME IN MY QUEST TO KILL ALL JEWS" or something like that, because that is prohibited by policy, as well as cultural taboo. The point about support votes needing stronger rationales comes chiefly from people who, in my opinion, oppose far too often on too flimsy reasons. What they regulatly overlook is the fact that because of the necessary ~75 percent support ratio, an oppose automatically weighs around 2.5 times more than a support (assuming the closing 'crat considers them equally justified). That, and the rationale to support is supposed to be presented in the nomination itself. If someone can find additional good reasons to support a candidate, that's of course nice, but it is not necessary.
However, you should probably view my comment in light of the fact that I'm a regular supporter. Trustability is all that matters to me, and if I don't judge potential misuse (be it inadvertent or intentional) to be likely, I always support (even if I don't particularly like the candidate for some reason).
But since the debates at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Wikipedia:Requests for adminship and Wikipedia:Removal of adminship started, I've heard veterans comment to the effect that community consensus as to trust a candidate or not is not considered very important. Maybe I, too, should adjust my standards and be more critical of candidates in the future, to help facilitate an imo necessary change with regard to adminship for life. OTOH, I wouldn't want to become one of those idiotic point commenters. Not sure how to proceed. Currently, I'm just a tad frustrated because I always thought that RfA was indeed a somewhat important process, and that community opinion and consensus held at least some weight with the upper echelons. I could easily have fixed that myself, of course. But I wanted to make sure that I got your attention, as a creator or major contributor to articles, for future reference. And more important, I hoped to call it to the attention of those who follow the good article candidates; maybe some of them will take a look at future candidates and help get rid of some of those who are actually more likely to end up out of place in the category listings than the one we are dealing with is, because it was a few letters into the last name before any problem would occur. Controversy
Funny how as soon as you go anywhere near anything even a tad controversial the fun starts...there could be some more heading our way with our toothy baby sometime....I was just trying to polish up and push through some nearly completed articles I'd been working on with Banksia spinulosa through and the little blue critter not looking too bad. I'd like to do Werewolf to partner vampire really too. This symbols book also has loads of stuff on colour symbolism I found out as I was flicking through it too....so I can add. My Noah idea was 2 supernatural, 2 colours, 2 cities (Sydney, say, and an NZ one), 2 foods etc. - that way making the templates is easier....cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:59, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I got over 400 edits on Lion - I'm thinking Vampire may need the same. But anyway, I feel better now some folks have helped out. I did a bit on pork but a more pressing food one is Agaricus bisporus aka the common everyday mushroom (y'know, kept in the dark and fed shit?) - I know you'll plead ignorance on the scientific part but I'm expecting the main part to be about all the foodey stuff (cultivation/ccoking etc.) - any input on that would be most welcome...pork'll need alot of work. I find with some of the bigger tasks coming and going helps - all of lion, Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, Banksia spinulosa and [Superb Fairy-wren]] I left for periods after having a mental block on how to proceed and then came back to some time later. I completely agree
The history of vampires part 1 heading is not a serious edit, in that I don't expect it to survive. It simply highlights the function of the section in the current revision. It is a history section, there are other history sections, but I can't work out which goes with which or, in fact, how many there actually are.
The subdivisions, on the other hand, were serious edits. I still think they could be changed and reordered, added to or moved to other sections, however, they highlight the logic of a generally well researched and well written section; whereas the history heading is there to point out the lack of overall logic (in the current revision's arrangement).
Actually, my hope was that the improvement of one section would motivate improvement of the whole article. Just a few headings and reorderings can make the whole thing look 200% better (I'm not exaggerating).
So please get in there and do what you like. My edit was based on the fact that I expect it to be reverted, not on a desire to provide a definitive structure myself. Cheers. Alastair Haines 07:20, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

OK while you're twiddling your thumbs I haven't anything much on the Americas and Mexico, we also have the german Nachzehrer, and Mexican Tlahuelpuchi to consider incorporating into article. I am adding refs and figuring what to do with film/lit and all the corpse stuff and more folklore inclusively. Also, this Vampire Film book mentions some art - some older than 75 years should be copyright-free - Clovis Touille - Le Reve vampyr and Mon Tombeau, also Felicien Rops. Vamps
This is not a POV. The last poster on the request for comment even noticed that I was right. Theres a whole host of scholarship that refutes the claim made by the article that Lilith as Adam's first wife is somehow "ancient" and in the OT, but was omitted. The reference made that Lilith was omitted from the OT and thereby never appears is likewise incorrect and she appears in Isa. 34:14.
Heres multiple lists of links provide that state that the story first appears in the Alphabet of Ben Sira and is in no way connected to some tradition of Lilith's omition in the OT.
On a overview of most sources on Lilith, specifically this is about her as Adam's first wife.
Jewish encyclopedia. Notice not one mention of any OT text that were omitted, how curious.
A great citation for anything Lilith
And as for Wikipedia:
Lilith's wiki Ben sira's wiki and text on Lilith in its entirity.
And lastly, the vampire book provides no citations where this idea comes from, which is something to watch for. And you have not provided a reason to why Lilith wouldn't been omitted nor evidence to support this claim. In fact the amulets you cite are dated from the medieval period and support Ben sira & not your claims. [1]

Update on vampire
I find that with some of the truly long articles, like lion, and also some others I've worked on like Banksia spinulosa, I reached a fatigue point where I needed a little break just to gather thoughts and ruminate for a bit before jumping in refreshed. vampire is a huge job as it didn't have a format like the other bio articles I've worked on etc. I also have to do a Powerpoint presentation for Friday night so am a bit sidetracked currently. The more I think about pork I think it is a bit of a mess. Also, I am going to be quizzed on poisonous fungi on monday for a game show so have been sprucing those articles to jog my memory too (with a couple more DYKs and maybe a GA or FAC in the middle with some articles I built up). I think modelling blue on green is worthwhile though it would be good to wait until the latter has gone thru FAC maybe....
Potato and maize were two others I mused upon. Have a look at them too. The AHS I'm unconvinced about and have not heard anything outside of sci-fi...oh, I'd mused on doing great Cthulhu at some point too. cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:04, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Featured List of the Day Experiment
There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. Hey Spawn, your new article about Pelagosaurus looks good except the part where you are citing the palaeos page. The description there refers to the thalattosuchia as a group and not to Pelagosaurus in particular and is based on such genera as Metriorhynchus, Geosaurus, Dakosaurus, etc... Pelagosaurus is actually the most primitive member of the group and it is unclear that if it has a fin tail as the more evolved members of the group. It has features like the plate like scutes covering the body as in Teleosaurus and the other crocodilians, but were lost in all other Thalattosuchia. It is untrue to say that it is one of the rare archosaurs to be fully aquatic as this statement refers to the Thalattosuchia in general. You might want to consult with User:Mark t young who has studied these critters extensively. Otherwise good job! Cheers. ArthurWeasley (talk) 06:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Soultans
Thanks for your work. I figured they were notable and that it was just a matter of finding sources to show it. You've certianly done that. The thing that led me to the page was that someone was trying to reserve the title Mike Marshall (musician) for the guy in the Soultans. I felt that the title should go to the mandolinist Mike Marshall. I still feel this is correct since there doesn't appear to be much info on individual Soultans members.
