June 2011

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to QI (E series), did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. The reverted edit can be found here. Thank you. Vrenator (talk) 12:50, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't realise my edit was unconstructive. I will keep that in mind. Shuipzv3 (talk) 12:53, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
No Problem. PLease just make sure all your edits are properly sourced. Vrenator (talk) 13:00, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Here's a few of them: [1], [2]. In addition you may find it in the articles Malaria in the section "Historical Treatments", and Julius Wagner-Jauregg under "Nobel prize" (He won the 1927 Nobel Prize for medicine for this discovery). Shuipzv3 (talk) 13:20, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
I added it to the article because I thought some people might be interested in how malaria cures syphilis. It's my fault though that I didn't add refs. Shuipzv3 (talk) 13:26, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
Fine - Just make your edit and include the references.Vrenator (talk) 13:27, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Aligning templates

I want to align the "Trivia" infobox to the right, and inline with the other two infoboxes at the top. It aligns to the right, but it doesn't stay at the top. How do i align it? Shuipzv3 (talk) 04:35, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Sorry. I should have mentioned it is on my Userpage. Shuipzv3 (talk) 04:36, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Although I know tables are an evil way to layout these days, in this case, they simply are the easiest solution. I think this makes it look as you intended. Regards SoWhy 10:38, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much for helping. Shuipzv3 (talk) 11:08, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Hermitrage

Thanks! I corrected it by additing the info to the existing entry and to use redirect. Thanks. Krzyycho (talk) 09:41, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

  • No problem. Its all part of improving Wikipedia. Shuipzv3 (talk) 07:24, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Speedy Speedy deletion

Please don't tag articles for speedy deletion so soon after creation, like you did with Malayalee Association Greater Houston. You tagged it under A7 only 6 minutes after it was created. You need to give the author time to finish whatever process they're using before sending them the dramatic "Your page is about to be deleted!" WP:NPP recommends at least 15 minutes after the last edit; personally, I never tag anything other than really bad stuff (like attack pages or copyvios) in less than about 2 hours. Qwyrxian (talk) 13:11, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

Sorry. I will keep that in mind. Shuipzv3 (talk) 04:47, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Your request for rollback

Hi Shuipzv3. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 11:24, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Anti-spam barnstar

  The Anti-Spam Barnstar
I'm giving you this barnstar for rolling back a spammer's edit so quickly -- three minutes after it was added! Thank you for helping keep this spammer at bay. Wshallwshall (talk) 00:56, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Shuipzv3 (talk) 03:07, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

and i think that the siberan who knows the truth have the right to express there view on wikipedia. Wikipedia is an public encyclopedie who is made by the input of everybody, every religion, every culture. especially the siberan who knows the truth. and do you know how many satellite controls our brains. no! i know. there's 3051 of them. i knew it and you didn't knew it. so that's the proof i'm right. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.230.140.53 (talk) 01:32, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

We don't discriminate against anyone, thats why Wikipedia is the free encyclopaedia that anyone can edit. But we do have policies regarding editing on Wikipedia, such as Verifiability and Notability. After you familiarise yourself with these policies, you are welcomed to make constructive edits. Shuipzv3 (talk) 01:38, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

why are you refering me to that. you know that i dont agree that my input was vandalism. you just know youre wrong and youre afraid of the truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.230.140.53 (talk) 01:43, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

If you insist on publishing your conspiracy theories on Wikipedia, at least cite your sources. If you don't know how to do that, this will help: Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners. By the way, your edits DO constitute as vandalism, and I have no reason to be afraid of your scare tactics. Shuipzv3 (talk) 02:38, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Regarding Carbon tax see carbon pricing

Of interest, per your edits on carbon tax: see carbon pricing. (",) Correct terms, are not influenced by "everybody does it".

Here is a direct link: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Carbon_tax&diff=455205281&oldid=455183459

99.181.157.189 (talk) 05:53, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Well, if you live in Australia, the legislation is commonly called the "carbon tax" by the public and media, even though you might be right and it really is "carbon pricing". Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:23, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
And there are many ways to price carbon emissions, but the method used by the Australian government in this case is a carbon tax. Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:28, 30 October 2011 (UTC)

Edit Warring at Charlie Hebdo

Hi, thanks for the notice on edit warring. For the record: I undid a user's misquote of a linked AP article, then this went back and forth a few times since the user kept reinserting the misquote. I then desisted from attempting to remedy the vandalism through further edits, and instead requested the user's blockage, which was effected by a moderator. Ni'jluuseger (talk) 11:39, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Sure, no problem. Shuipzv3 (talk) 11:41, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Personally, I think the article needs some attention regarding its style, such as merging some sentences into relevant paragraphs, and introducing double spacing is not solving the problem. Shuipzv3 (talk) 23:57, 19 November 2011 (UTC)

Reckless Editing

Hi thank you for your post on the talk page of 220.255.2.137. Please do note that it is spelled as 'Asian Civilisations Museum' and not 'Asian Civillisations Museum'. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the spelling has been rectified, as you can see from the page history. Hello Shuipzv3.

Thanks for putting me right on this one Actually, I was only putting into acceptable format, the edit which Jmaxmiller 11(Talk) had just posted. You should read it. Special:Contributions/Jmaxmiller11

Once again, I appreciate your input.

Best wishes,

Warnings

Hi, there's no need to leave three warnings all at once like this—you can just start with the warning level you feel is appropriate (usually a level 1 unless it's clearly in bad faith). Also, if the user has {{repeatvandal}} (the box that says "this IP has been repeatedly blocked for vandalism; further abuse may result in an extended block") at the top of their talk apge, you can report them straight to WP:AIV or to the admin who last blocked them. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:30, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi, can you take a look at the last edit you made to Margaret Thatcher article. The date given in the infobox is the date of the marriage not the birth of Dennis Thatcher. Keith D (talk) 01:39, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Seismology

Why? --194.150.65.28 (talk) 06:30, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Because your edit to Seismology does not appear to be constructive. Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:32, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
But what if it is? --194.150.65.28 (talk) 06:34, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Ask yourself, is it something you want to see in an encyclopaedia? Jokes may appear harmless, but they compromise the quality of articles in Wikipedia. Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:36, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
But does it appear to be a joke or is it really? --194.150.65.28 (talk) 06:41, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
From what I can see its an attempt. Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:43, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Says someone with only forty userboxes on their page. Ha ha! --194.150.65.28 (talk) 06:46, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't see how that has anything to do with your edit. Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:48, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Well, it only appears not to have anything to do with my edit. --194.150.65.28 (talk) 06:50, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Your point is? Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:51, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
My point is that it appears you're going to let me troll you indefinitely. Grow a spine. --194.150.65.28 (talk) 06:54, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
Says the one who reverted my edit. Keep going, wanna get blocked? Shuipzv3 (talk) 06:57, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
I don't see how that has anything to do with Seismology. --194.150.65.28 (talk) 07:00, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
You already have two three warnings. Continue at this rate and you will be blocked. Shuipzv3 (talk) 07:05, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
For what? Talking to you? --194.150.65.28 (talk) 07:10, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

And blanking your page doesn't mean its gone. Shuipzv3 (talk) 07:08, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

The first one was your "joke", which resulted in this very conversation, the second was because you thought its funny to revert my edit, which was clearly vandalism. Have I adequately answered your question? Shuipzv3 (talk) 07:43, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
No. Please tell me more. --194.150.65.9 (talk) 08:33, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
I think you know the reasons yourself. Shuipzv3 (talk) 08:35, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
On the contrary! I've completely forgotten what we were talking about! (Note: I had to go and get pizza so my IP changed. I didn't do it on purpose.) --194.150.65.9 (talk) 08:41, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
No, no, no, you know it. Unless you acknowledge that, I'll remain silent from now on. Shuipzv3 (talk) 08:51, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi Shuipsv! I notice that I have not been the only registered/logged-in editor to be plagued by belligerent anons this January. The iritation is further compounded by the fact that it is generally pointless posting at the current IP address, because the anon will only jump up out of another somewhat similar-looking address to continue his/her campaign. All the best for 2012. Gareth Griffith-Jones (talk) 09:23, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, those pesky trolls have wasted my efforts and time that may otherwise be used for something useful. Happy editing to you too! Shuipzv3 (talk) 09:44, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Tense of Fictional Works

as per WP:TENSE:

Works of fiction are generally considered to "come alive" when read. They exist in a kind of perpetual present tense, regardless of when the fictional action is supposed to take place relative to "now." Thus, generally you should write about fiction using the present tense, not the past tense.
"Homer presents, Achilles rages, Andromache laments, Priam pleads."
"Darth Vader is a fictional character from Star Wars."
"Holden Caulfield has a certain disdain for what he sees as 'phony'."
"Heathcliff, who is taken in by the wealthy Earnshaw family as a child, falls in love with their daughter, Catherine."
Friends is an American sitcom that was aired on NBC.

Reubot (talk) 23:44, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

I checked WP:TVLEAD and it confirmed what you said. Thank you for setting me straight. Shuipzv3 (talk) 00:51, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Jean-Marie Le Pen

I'm french citizen, how dare you question the French opinon on such a racist and fascist party as the FN. I read you're a Malaysian guy, so you should not interfere with French interior affairs. Let me remind you that "Le Pen" is the leader of an extremist french party, who plans to deny citizenship to all strangers. He his planning (and his daughter) on instauring a racist regime. This includes Malaysian people. So if you mind about racism, you better think twice before deleting such a magnificent post as mine on Le Pen's true identity. It's for the cause. Date format

Hi! I saw your changes on Mila Kunis' article for some dates so I was wondering, what format is the best? I know when one type is chosen it should be the same in the whole article for consistency, but is it better to put the date in numbers like 2012-02-08 or in letters like February 8, 2012 or 8 February 2012? What's the difference? Is it specified somewhere on wiki what we should do? --Sofffie7 (talk) 20:51, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Since Mila Kunis is an American, and the Americans typically uses the format month before date, like February 9, 2012. See WP:STRONGNAT for date formats according to the countries. WP:DATERET also says we should follow the format already used on the page. Shuipzv3 (talk) 22:46, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Ok, thanks for your answer :-) --Sofffie7 (talk) 23:28, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

Re: North Sydney Girls High School

Hello

I do not see how my contributions to the "North Sydney Girls High School" page were not constructive. In my revision, I merely corrected the logo so that it displayed the image properly rather than '130px' (broken link) before. Please undo your reversion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ConcernedHistorian1 (talkcontribs) 13:12, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

You actually fixed the first image in the infobox, I'll give you that, and I have reverted my error. However, why did you put 'edittt' in another image down below? That messed up the other image. Shuipzv3 (talk) 13:35, 16 September 2012 (UTC)

Dill

I saw your recent edit to the article on Dill. I saw that you changed "bao" to "baoz" in a link. I don't know enough to comment on whether this is correct or not, but when I looked at the edit just before yours (in Edit History), I saw that in the very next sentence the word "bao" appears. If the word is changed in one place, shouldn't it be changed in another? CorinneSD (talk) 16:18, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Oh thanks for pointing that out, I didn't pay enough attention and overlooked that. I'll fix it right away. Shuipzv3 (talk) 17:23, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Submarine

Hello there Shuipzv3!

Now, it seems as if you have altered an ammendment that I made to the Submarine page, wherein I summerised the character of Oliver as a 'ninny'.

You seem to have taken umbrage at this fact, and rather oddly referred to the usage of the classifier as 'biased'. I disagree. I think that it is obvious that the film makers intended Oliver to appear as a bit of a ninny: a noun which the online dictionary suggests is derived from innocent, and means naive or simpleton, which Oliver clearly is (in the nicest way possible).

It looks like that you either disagree with my assertion, or you don't understand it. Now, if it is the latter, then you should have left alone, and if it is the former, you need to watch the film!

Who on earth/the internet gave you the right to swap usueful and insightful details about at your discretion?!?!

Last month I chucked a few quid Wikipedia's way: I think I might be asking for it back if this is the type of service I recieve!!

Please explain. I'm sure that there has been some misunderstanding!

Your pal

Sugartips — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.112.37.144 (talk) 19:02, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello Sugartips. Allow me first to thank you for your donation. The reason why I reverted your edit was because it violated one of the three core policies of Wikipedia: Neutral point of view. The contents in the encyclopedia should be written from a neutral, objective stance, and your edit that "Oliver is a bit of a ninny" does not constitute neutrality. This Oliver in the film may be a ninny after all (and yes I do know the meaning), but the aim of the encyclopedia is to be objective, and not to be someone's (including yours') personal opinion. I do welcome constructive edits from you, and I urge you to familiarise yourself with some of our guidelines here such as Verifiability, No original research, and Vandalism. Happy editing. Shuipzv3 (talk) 11:00, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Submarine continued

Ok Shuipez3- what a lovely reply.

I don't agree with what you have said though- think about it; the boy's ninnyness is his defining characteristic, like alcoholic is Nic Cage's character's defining feature in Leaving Las Vegas, or PTS defines Robert De Niro's Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver!

But I am not one to argue- if I change it to waht it should be, you'll only change it back!

All the best pal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.112.37.144 (talk) 18:40, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
